will any rover 111i parts fit a metro? 26 Jan 2006 (Forum)
I'm guessing not, but if anything would fit I would remove it before the car goes to the scrap yard. The 111i had a new middle and back box 8 months ago, and new plugs and leads at the end of November. Thanks -

Focus - splutters on acceleration 10 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Gentle acceleration, or easing off the throttle when it does splutter, seems to stop it. Starts fine, and cruses along fine. The local Ford garage replaced the leads and plugs which fixed it for a few days but it's now back as before. Before I chuck too much money at this, is there anything easy or obvious I should check or suggest a garag checks? Thanks Nick -

Citroen BX starting problem 30 Aug 2005 (Forum)
While contemplating my Xsara's stubborn door, my neighbour sought help with his J-rej BX which he can't start. Although he does very low mileage the plugs and all the leads seemed in good nick but on cranking the engine I could see no spark. It's a 1.9 (carburettor) with electronic ign. in what looks like a conventional distributor. There was no warning of any developing problem. -
Wrong way along a motorway 17 Jun 2005 (Forum)
The police used a stinger to stop him but he did a U turn and drove on on his wheel rims. What on earth leads a man to deliberately drive like that? Many years ago on the M20 I was passed by a bloke driving the wrong way and it is a very frightening experience, the approach speed leaves you with split second decisions and I was'nt expecting it. -
Dirty Petrol - Rover 414 19 May 2005 (Forum)
I've got a Rover 414SLI 1990 H with an intermitent running problem - after about 1o mins running it starts to miss fire but only as if on 1 cylinder then picks up ok - its got new plugs, leads, dist cap & rotor arm, air filter. The coil was changed about 20K ago - is it dirty petrol as it seems to be worse after say a motorway run but will 'miss' going up/down the off ramp? - Any help will be appreciated as its driving me mad! -
SEAT recall Brake Vacuum Pipe 9 Mar 2005 (Forum)
If the pipe leaks, the brake servo loses it's function. Without the servo assistance a lot more force must be used on the pedal. But this will not lead to a total failuire of the braking system." FoC examination and if necessary replacement - about an hour. -

Draper Battery Master 25 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I know there has been discussion here in the past about the charging of little used car batteries using trickle chargers that are designed to be connected to the battery for long periods without disconnecting the vehicle's positive and negative leads. Does anyone have experience of the Draper Battery Master? The reason I ask is I was considering buying one of the more expensive chargers, but my annual subscription to Practical Classics magazine is due and I see today that the latest subscription "free gift" is one of these Draper chargers! -
Subaru Legacy Engine flat spot 17 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I though at first it was caused by cheap supermarket petrol but switching to a proper brand has not helped. Could it be fuel filter, HT leads or...? Thanks. Sad Chicken -
Foreign driving offence ticket scam 11 Jul 2004 (Forum)
Anyway, apparently there's a growing scam in certain parts of Europe which involves sending UK/foreign motorists what seems like official documentation demanding payment of fines for motoring offences which never took place. I'm not sure what claims or threats the 'documentation' makes but it's all convicing enough to lead some to aprt with their money apparently so beware. -

c180 sport 29 Oct 2003 (Forum)
I have checked the brake fluid etc, and everything is normal. The ABS light doesnt come on with the BAS light, which leads me to believe that the ABS sensors must be ok. Also, the car is a manual, and is constantly jumping out of 2nd gear. Does anybody know what could cause these problem? Thanks for any help!! Peter -

My '93 L reg BMW 518 has just been serviced by a local specialist who advised me that the down pipe leading into the catalytic convertor has split, is blowing slightly and therefore needs replacing. They are quoting £550 + Vat BMW or £350 + Vat 'pattern part' does anyone know if I can get this welded instead and if not what should I go for as I intend to keep the car another 5 years? -

Rover 214 intermittant fault 1 Jan 2003 (Forum)
Today it wouldn't start from cold ( unusual, as it is more problematic while half warm) and the battery went down. I got it going with jump leads and a shot of easy start, but I haven't cured the fault. Any ideas ? Gratefully received . -
Mazda 323 23 Oct 2002 (Forum)
But what is strange is that after stopping and turning off engine for 10 mins then starting up again the problem is not there. I guess that its the damp weather affecting the leads or distributor cap but wondered if I can use anything to stop this from happening. Any ideas? -
