  • SEAT Alhambra - G201 ESP brake pressure sensor 1 Aug 2013 (Forum)
If that is the case then my warranty clearly states that the ABS pump is covered. How can I find out if the sensor is internal or external to the ABS pump in my car? I have a 2008 Seat Alhambra 2.0TDI Stylance. Thanks.
  • Grand Scenic - air conditioning 17 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Also, the renault forum says that the faulty wiring to the a/c compressor  (DF1070) is covered by a recall but we are being charged over £150.  Has anyone else had this done and been covered by the recall?   Thanks
  • Six month lay-up 6 Aug 2008 (Forum)
My daughter's leaving the country for six months, and will be laying up her five year old MX5, by leaving it outside on a hard standing. I've suggested a car cover and solar trickle charger (although they seem mutually incompatible) to no avail. I've convinced her to put the hard top on. I've read the FAQs, and done a forum search. It'll be SORNed and have insurance cover.
  • Ford S-MAX (2006 - ) - Tyre goo 4 Aug 2008 (Forum)
Annual fee or pay on call out? My breakdown cover is with autoaid (pay and claim and much recommended), not sure what help they would be but I can call my own contractor rather than theirs if I breakdown and subsequently claim the money back. I'd have to check the small print of their policy but even if not covered I'd like to know of any 24hr national tyre services if they exist.
  • Vauxhall Cavalier (1988 - 1995) - 94 2.0 Mk 3 DOHC Ecotec Petrol - Clutch Change 7 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I tried to change the clutch with the gearbox insitu, following the Haynes Manual. After removing the end cover I was unable to withdraw the drive shaft as there was no thread in the shaft to attach the slide hammer. There is no end cover bolt on the drive shaft. I have done this before on an Mk 2 I used to own.

  • Aston Martin DB7 (1994 - 2003) - Insurance 20 Apr 2008 (Forum)
As the owner of a number of high performance cars, including an Aston Martin and an Alfa Romeo GTA, I always regard it as a personal challenge to improve significantly on my insurance renewal premiums when I am notified of them. I have just received my Alfa renewal and it was £423 including breakdown cover.
  • Ticking Fiesta 27 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I have a 1 year old Fiesta with the 1.3 iron age engine which has covered 5,000 miles. The first thing I noticed when driving was a ticking / tapping noise at mid to high range revs. The decal on the rocker cover illustrates that the exhaust valve tappet clearance be set at 0.5mm, the handbook suggests 0.3mm.
  • BMW 1 Series Convertible - dealer warranty 26 Mar 2016 (Forum)
i bought a car using a finance company which was found through ZUTO (the broker). when buying the car from the dealer it come with a 6 months warranty which covered wear and tear. after 1 month the car started to develop a grinding noise so i asked two independant mechanics, one of which was a bmw specialist, to listen and have a test drive. they both said that its sounds like the first motion shaft bearing and is a common fault for my model.
  • New cars - Drab interiors 12 Jul 2025 (Forum)
I have been spending a lot of time with a mate taking him to look for a new or newish car. He seems to tust my judgement a bit. It seems that unless you go quite bit upmarket there are very few choices where the seat covers are not black. Only one we have seen is an MGHS trophy with the optional Tan leather that is within his budget.

  • Mercedes AW169 2011 classic - Cracked plastic door mirror 1 Jun 2022 (Forum)
The plastic cover of door mirror was cracked whilst I was in a car park.  All electrics etc work properly. Is it possible to just replace plastic part ?  If so, is it a job an amateur could do ?
  • Untaxed vehicles 9 May 2021 (Forum)
If a vehicle is uninsured it is liable to be seized by the police if it is flagged up on their ANPR system. Does anyone know what the consequences are for driving around in a car that is not taxed ?  Would that also receive the same attention on the ANPR ? And, importantly, does driving an untaxed vehicle nullify the insurance cover  ? By the way, I’m in the clear.
  • any - Electric charging points 17 Mar 2018 (Forum)
There were items which looked like charging points labelled 'Tesla' under polythene covers at Fleet service station today, sign of the times? How long will it take to charge the average electric car and how will battery performance drop off as time goes by?

  • Mondeo HT leads 15 Apr 2004 (Forum)
Just changed the plugs in my Mondeo (2000W), and want to check the HT leads are ok as the car has now covered 103k miles. Is it possible to do this by measuring their resistance with a common multi-meter? If so, what value should a lead not exceed if it is in good condition?
