  • any - how long to get the best from your vehicle 3 Aug 2018 (Forum)
I reckon it takes me about 4/5 months before i can get the best from a new to me vehicle, though i don't think you ever stop learning. Was issued a new lorry at work in Feb, and we have fuel consumption displayed automatically on the depot fuel pump every time we refill. OK so it was new and the engine obviously tight, but at first my fuel figures were  disappointing to me (nothing ever said by work), but now several months later the figures are much better, though the warm weather must be playing its part as well, be interesting to see what happens this winter.

  • Help pick an SUV, auto, petrol Max £16K 5 Jun 2018 (Forum)
Must be high seating (so SUV think), petrol only (conditions are always town driving so don't want diesel, DPF issue etc), automatic. Under 16K and ideally year 17 on so have some manufacturers warranty. Also like the look of Android Auto/Apple CarPlay for phone connection with a nice large touchscreen. Not too bothered on inbuilt sat nav as can use the phones sat nav as only used sparely anyway.
  • N/A - Tesla autopilot 28 Apr 2018 (Forum)
Unproven tech in motor vehicles is going to cost innocent victims their lives. We have radar cruise control, automatic braking and other so called safety sytems which give the drivers a false sense of security. The latest I observe is brake lights coming on for no apparent reason when following on the motorway due to these systems.
  • Any - Customer service from Hell 7 Oct 2017 (Forum)
I frequent, (or  perhaps haunt) another forum concerned with the model that I currently own.  Its useful for finding out stuff like how to replace bulbs and to have a moan about automatic gearboxes.  There's a post on there from someone who took their car to a Ford dealer in a very large Southern city for gearbox work. When they got it back, a nearly new premium tyre had been damaged (possibly a Goodyear or Michelin), the car, which had been washed before delivery to the dealer, was filthy with grass under the wheelarches as if it had been taken off road, the alloys were black with muck and there were scratches on the paintwork that hadn't been there before.
  • Mazda 2 2006/07 1.4 Petrol - Any good? 25 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Question - any owners out there care to comment on Mazda 2's from 2006/07 in 1.4 petrol guise? I would prefer an automatic but HJ says they can go wrong and manual is a better option.  Any views on this? Not looking to replace Polo for a few months so no rush and would hope prices have dropped to £2.5k when I eventually take the plunge.
  • Suzuki and others. - Warning Light Reset 18 Dec 2014 (Forum)
The issue is not unique to my vehicle it seems to be a general "false positive" on Suzukis that should probably reset automatically but doesn't always do so. I have paid to get the  light reset each time and thought I should have a go at fixing it myself at the next event. This happened last week so I went on line and found the Autel MS300 Scan Tool with several U-Tube reviews that said it works for resets and it's simple to use.
  • Driving in Europe with HID Xenon lamps!! 28 Jul 2014 (Forum)
They were totally clueless, and although the Skoda garage looked in the workshop manual, the Ford place insisted on arguing that you can't adjust it!!! I know that height adjustment is automatic, but I think that sales should make buyers aware of such an important issue when ordering with Xenons as normal light deflectors do not work. Has anyone here had these problems too, or in the case of driving abroad, found an easier way then removing the bumper on a VAG car to adjust them for driving on the right?

  • Ford Focus - Door Protectors 15 Mar 2014 (Forum)
I have, on several occasions have realised  my Ford Focus 2012 has not locked properly. This car has the automatic door protectors which are connected to the door mechanism. The problem I find is that you have to be careful that you give the door extra force when closing. This does not mean slam but, failing to give the door a good shove, results in the door left open a jar.
