  hi ,ive just bought an Xsara hdi 2001 ,the same day I had the stop light and beeping come on and car wouldn't start and noticed fuel pump was not priming so took it back and they replaced pump in tank and all was well till next day,when tried to start first thing stop light and beeping was back also was running very groggy on tick over then died so tried again and same happened but noticed temp gauge was on nothing then 90 then stayed at 0 and fan was running, so left it for a minute or so ticking over groggy and beeping and flashing stop ended gauge still on 0 and revs returned to normal and could rev smoothly and every time today starting and running was fine with no lights /beeping so any help would be appreciated ,I'm suspecting it will do same on the first start tomorrow 8-O ,cheers guys

  It  may be a rear seat belt reel but I can't fathom out how to get to them. My only other thought is that it may be the anti syphon device in the fuel filler pipe. It is a tinny rattle like something knocking lightly on bare metalwork. Any ideas out there?

  It's about the right size and reasonably economical.  Need some thing similar but with a better reliability record and if possible, better fuel econcomy.  Looked at  Audi A3 but they are probably just out side our budget and seen used with 70K miles for £10K.  Don't want new but around 1-2 years old budget around £9K, might push it to £10.

  Changed Heater Plugs,Oil and Filters Also Control box for pre-post system, there is a leak somewhere in fuel system, as there is air in the manual priming pump every time I go to restart the car after a couple of hours of being parked up. Been to Citroen Dealer, HaHA ,could be faulty injector(s) might have to change 1 or could end up changing 4,at £250 a pop!

  If I wanted to save trees etc I'd walk everywhere. I don't so I drive. If I wanted a car that had no torque and s***ty fuel economy then I'd buy a s***ty little 1 litre petrol car with 50bhp and less than 100lb/ft of torque not a 110bhp diesel that can develop 200+ lb/ft torque. STOP trying to make regular cars Eco friendly and let those of us who want to drive drive and let the tree huggers walk everywhere and eat veggies.

  This takes hot exhaust gases after they have passed through the diesel particulate filter, cools them, passes them back through the intercooler at relatively low pressure, then recombusts them at optimum temperature in the combustion chambers. Multi injection that involves injecting fuel during the combustion process as well as before helps create the necessary temperature to regenerate the particulate filter, however the engine is being used. This is a PR puff piece that's been badly rewritten into nonsense.

   I now start my car with my foot fully down on the clutch and accelerator, I am just scared  that I will flood it, yet it seems to work. I have treated it with redex incase there was a block in the fuel lines and it was serviced only 2 months ago with new plugs and filters. Just over a month ago the car had its cam-belt changed and the problems started not long after that. The car seems to run very well, with no odd vibrations.

  hi i recently done a engine change, just the engine all other electricals were used from previous engine they worked fine prior to changing ,the car sat with no battery for a month ,now all hooked up correctly ,the engine wont start no spark but getting fuel ive been told its the key ,it needs to be re figured ,but as my remote key is broken i cant configure it is this the problem .i have little knowledge about electrics but i do have power to the coils on the middle wire but no spark when plug earthed ,crank angle sensor was from the old engine and was working fine prior to the exchange of engines only swapped the engines cause i cooked the old one,,checked and rechecked wiring all seems fine,can somebody please help with a answer i can try to get it going thanks

  In the last two weeks the car stalled twice while driving for some time and was jittery a few more times without stalling. When taken to a garage the mechanics on both occasions said the fuel system had air in it and when they pumped it out the engine started without a problem. One tried to convince me it is the prime pump in the reservoir that needs replacing, while the other says it is most likely the tandem pump.

  as soon as the revs reach 2000 revs there is no turbo boost whats so ever! The car has had numerous new parts including fuel filter (under bonnet) no 1 injector, map sensor, air filter + loads of other new bits and pipes!  My husband has done numerous tests and concluded it is not the turbo itself - all parts are free and move as should!

  I'm not a diesel specialist (what, no ht leads, distributor and plugs !! :-) Question is, what else can cause (I assume) unburnt diesel fuel ? I assume that's what the black smoke and failed emissions represents ? Could it be a dirty injector issue ? It's a pretty basic, non sophisticated turbo diesel engine. Any help or guidance would be MUCH appreciated from a diesel specialist.

  Just this morning I had the problem and couldn't get any revs going at all for a good few seconds and then it just kicked in. We have changed a fuel filter but this hasn't helped at all. Sometimes it also happens when we are just driving along without warning, it just suddenly jerks and then carries on as normal. It is driving us mad!   Any help would be appreciated,   Many thanks.

    When the accelerator is released, it goes back to idle and runs roughly again and the whole thing can be repeated.   I'm thinking this could be a vacuum problem, but not sure where, or maybe a fuel supply problem or possibly a sensor problem but don't really know, anyone got any ideas?

  This is a much more expensive way of charging than from the mains, especially with the spiralling fuel costs.  I have a 10 mile each way commute which I could do easily in an electric car. However, it wouldn't have the range I need for my other motoring needs and this is where a hybrid would come into its own.

  Everyone loves a bargain and with the increase in fuel prices and likely interest rate hikes I reckon there will be some bargains 4x4s to be had. Lots of people have bought these over the last few years who cannot really afford to run them and I reckon lots of them will flood the market this year (2011).

  When the cold weather sets in it is a nightmare to start, car has been on diagnostics and no fault codes come up, its a 54 plate with 75k on. Fuel filter, glow plugs changed, injection cleaner put through as there was excesive black smoke out the back, Clutch was changed last year. Once it starts it runs like a dream with plenty power and then will start all day long, the car is fine starting in warmer weather.

  At first they said it needed a full service - no improvement,then it was a faulty ECU unit,had this replaced - it did not resolve anything,then they replaced the thermotime switch which apparently controls the cold start injector - no difference at all,and finally the filter on the fuel line (it must be partially blocked)the car has still got the original problem.They now admit that they do not know what the problem is. It will eventually start after several attempts and smells strongly of petrol and then it is fine for restarting, throughout the day it runs well.

  Do you think it can be a relay ? The codes show nothing that can be the probelm. it is not the fuel pump as well as i checked it while it is not starting and it works fine. Thanks a lot in advance. Yogi.

  My car has had a bit of a hard time due to a mechanic, I use the title loosely, doing a service for the previous owner and connected the fuel lines back to front. It took a long time to find this problem so the car has had long periods of being cranked over, but once the lines were connected correctly, starting was fine. This was when I bought the car and a gradual difficulty in starting developed.

  And it also shakes when I start driving in the 1st gear. I did a reading and it gave me the following codes: P0191 Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/Performance p0238 Turbocharger Boost Sensor A Circuit High p0263 Cylinder 1 Contribution/Balance Fault p0266 Cylinder 2 Contribution/Balance Fault p0269 Cylinder 3 Contribution/Balance Fault and p0504 or p504 something about the brake switch I was advised to upgrade the pcm (ecu).
