I have an annoying rattle from the rear nearside or possibly the tailgate of my 2006 deisel Avensis hatchback. The spare wheel and jack are secure and there are no other items in the boot. I have removed all inspection covers to make sure there is nothing loose, wiper motor, lock mechanism, light clusters etc. I have even removed all the floor covering and used a flexible hose on a vacuum cleaner to clear out all the nooks and crannies I can get to. I am sure that it is not the seats as the rattle exists when I carry passengers. I can't see any adjustment to tighten the hatch door. It may be a rear seat belt reel but I can't fathom out how to get to them. My only other thought is that it may be the anti syphon device in the fuel filler pipe. It is a tinny rattle like something knocking lightly on bare metalwork. Any ideas out there?
