Renault Clio, Citroen Xsara Picasso, MB C-Class - SORNd cars dumped in Residents Parking 3 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Pay for them to be removed to a safe place of "storage"... I am sure you can legally find out who the owners are, advise them that the cars need to be removed in xxx days and then just do that. I dropped the hint with a neighbour that the council were lookin at the cars in our street/private parking areas and one of them moved and the other was moved nto the owners reseved parking space. -
£105 to have car theft investigated 18 Apr 2007 (Forum)
A third alternative is that your car will be moved to a place of safety and you will be charged for the removal and subsequent storage and than another £105 if you want it foresicated. Not all of these charges may be paid out by your insurance company. I empasis that this is a Home Office initiative not a police one. -
Which 7 Seater? 27 Feb 2004 (Forum)
I would appreciate any advice or recommendations on a decent second hand 7-seater about the £4-7k bracket. Majority of time I only need 5 seats with PLENTY of storage/luggage space, occasionally 7/8 seats but luggage space not an issue then. So I was thinking that most small people carriers are out, and maybe an estate is best option. I'd prefer a diesel, but petrol would be ok if mpg was good. -
How can I keep my battery in good condition whilst my Renault Laguna is in storage? 24 Mar 2012 (Ask HJ)

My 10-year-old car has been in Spain for nine years and 11 months. I've lost the V5C, so what do I say at Dover when I try to bring it back to the UK? -

SORN my second car? 11 May 2020 (Forum)
Is it worth registering my second car as SORN, until the lock down is over? It was my intention to sell it, but I the second car as storage for stuff. Car is off-road in residents parking. Still insured. It was my intention to sell my second car car, but I am not sure what to do about that. It is an old car, so I will probably get £600 for it. -
Virginmedia v6 box 24 Aug 2018 (Forum)
We had a v6 box installed last October, replacing a TiVo box. The difference is like night and day, it’s faster, more capable and has vast storage capacity for recorded items. However, the thing packed up in July and a new one was installed. 2 days ago the replacement packed up too, so we have the so-called engineer coming out tomorrow and no doubt the solution will be a further replacement. -
Advice for a moving company? 13 Jan 2014 (Forum)
It's been quite some time now and I am still unable to convince myself in a trustworthy moving company that also supports storage. Yes, I've made the effort of consulting with as many people as i could. They gave me reccomendations such as getting an ordinary Man and Van assistance(not entirely sure it was called that way, because it's supposed to be 1 man, which ends up cheap. -
something different- washing machines. 16 Feb 2012 (Forum)
The new location has both hot and cold connections. I am thinking it would be more efficient to fill the washer with hot water we already have on storage, rather than cold and have the washer heat it up with an electric element. Would it affect the washing machine to do this? Our dishwasher is a hot fill device and has worked for over 20 years without a problem. -
Any - Snooping Or? 11 May 2011 (Forum)
I imagine that I will get a letter from them soon. It does seem irrelevant as most lockups are used for storage these days being too narrow for modern cars. -
Honda Civic - Seized dust caps 16 Jul 2010 (Forum)
So, I bought some cheap metal/aluminium replacements off ebay. However, as I went to leave my car in storage I was going to pump up the tyres but I couldn't get the caps off. I tried turning them with a spanner and the whole valve just ended up turning in the tyre, which seemed strange but didn't cause any damage. -
peugeot 306 - ACCIDENT RECOVERY RIP-OFF? 7 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Hi there my wife's son had an accident (fortunately uninjured) which led to the recovery services being called by the Police as the car was upside down on the road & needed to be recovered urgently.OK so far.If he wants the car back he has been quoted @£360 for the recovery & £20 per day storage plus the sc*** value of the car (a Peugeot 306 TD) from Norwich Recovery. We asked around for recovery prices from other local recovery firms & their recovery costs seem to substantially lower. Can I do anything about it? -
Nissan 200SX (1994 - 2001) - 97 2.0 Not revving 8 Feb 2009 (Forum)
When I start the car with the afm disconnected it will rev fine up to 2500 where it seems to hit a rev limiter, as soon as I reconnect the the afm it struggles to idle and won't rev at all. Does this sound like the afm has been damaged in storage? The two wires in the afm look in tact. Please someone help. Thanks, Rob. -
Getting a seized vehicle back 7 Feb 2009 (Forum)
He is kicking himself for overlooking it as his company has 4 taxed, insured and MOT'ed vans. He has been told to produce Ins cert and driving licence in order to get van released from storage compound. Now despite a long and exhaustive search, he can't find that licence. The police have confirmed that a check with DVLA reveals him to have a clean , current licence and they are happy with his ID . -

Mystery Motorway Exit... 17 Nov 2003 (Forum)
Does anyone know where the mysterious 'Works Exit' junction lead to that's situated between J14 & J13 east bound on the M4? I've heard that it's some sort of secret nuclear bunker or even a missile storage site. The fact that the sign is permanent - and not a temporary flimsy ?works traffic? type only adds to the mystery. The other day my curiosity got the better of me so I decided to take the exit. -
Volvo 145 1 Aug 2003 (Forum)
Orange with brown plastic seats...it just about defined motoring in the early 70s. I can see the dash with that strip speedo, the underfloor storage in the back, every detail really. Those were the days when a Volvo was in a class alone from Cortina's and the like. Every antique dealer had one with a big flat roof rack. If it was nearer I'd just have to get it for old times sake! -
One to watch 21 Jan 2002 (Forum)
What this may mean is that when the end of the petroleum economy inevitably comes, Europe and elsewhere will find themselves complying with the US technology and standards touching on propulsion and hydrogen storage and distribution. Not necessarily a bad thing, you're using Windows aren't you? However, unless the Europeans get their act together and see this one coming they're going to be in a permanently subordinate role.
