    To mark the five millionth car rolling off the line at its Ellesmere Port factory, Vauxhall has released a video that celebrates its fantastic heritage. You get to see tyre smoke from a Chevette HS2300, a Mk3 Astra GSi being put through its paces and a Firenza HP 'Droopsnoot' being handbrake turned – all in the name of quality control, of course.

    Built up over more than a decade by American businessman Sam Pack, the collection included a range of Fifties and Sixties icons, concept cars, customs and modern classics. The 131-lot sale on Saturday, 15 November, represented just a small part of the collection allowing him to downsize to what he said was a more manageable level.
  • 1,000 Used BMWs Up For Auction 13th/14th November 3 Nov 2014 (News)
    BCA and BMW Group are to auction 1,000 Used BMWs at BCA Bridgewater on Thursday 13th and Friday 14th November. 500 cars will be offered each day at a variety of price points, ages and mileages, so there will be something for everyone, from independent prestige car dealers to private buyers. The two-day auction will be Bridgwater’s 100th Sale on behalf of BMW Group and will used two halls on each day.

    With the Historic taxation class for Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) now being returned to a ‘rolling’ system that comes into effect once a vehicle reaches forty years of age, plenty of attention has been lavished recently on those 1974 cars that will now be ‘tax-free’. But what about later models? Fortunately, it’s still possible to save money on VED as long as you pay close attention to engine sizes. With pre-2001 vehicles’ taxation classes being dictated by engine size rather than CO2 emissions, opting for a car with an engine no larger than 1549cc means you’ll pay £145 for a year’s VED rather than the £230 charged for vehicles with larger engines.

  • The Liver Run remembered 13 Aug 2013 (News)
    I've seen this before on TV - the famous Liver Run, where two Rover SD1 police cars need to transfer a live human organ for transportation in a very limited amount of time. The journey takes place on 8 May 1987, and starts at Stansted Airport in Essex, and the traffic officer needs to drive the liver along some of the UK's busiest roads in the centre of London, to Cromwell Hospital, Kensington.
