  • Audi 80 Cabrio (1992 - 2002) - 1997 2.6 Electric Hood malfunction 2 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Can anyone help with a cabriolet hood which opens only part way then sticks with the rear window section having moved up and the rear hood storage lid lifts about 2 inches. You can hear the hydraulic pump working and the hydraulic reservoir is up to level. There is no sign of any broken wires in the boot. The windows drop down slightly as they should.

  • All makes - Contaminated Fuel 15 Nov 2019 (Forum)
The problem seems to be have been made worse following the introduction of bio in the fuel which causes a by product of water when it mixes with fuel. The water collects in the base of the storage tank and is mixed with fuel when a delivery takes or the tank runs low. So maybe avoid any station where there is a tanker in attendance . Has anyone had problems like this which can destroy an engine and turbo ?
  • Porsche Boxster 2008 - Service due warning 1 Apr 2016 (Forum)
The garage had serviced the car and told me that it would not need doing for two years. The car was in storage since last October and was run occaisionly. Unfortunately when I went to start it this morning the battery was very low and needed a jump start to get the engine running. The car is great except that every time I put the ignition on it warns me that it needs a service now.

  • Biodiesel content to go from 5% to 7%? 24 Mar 2009 (Forum)
(Some truck operators find that oil and filter changes are needed more often and some have had issues with sludge and algae in fuel since using biodiesel, though this is blamed on storage, as it is presumed OK as it leaves the refinery).
  • Registration out by one digit on car insurance 2 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Of course, if the insurance is invalid then she's possibly got a ban and fine and we're out of pocket by about 11k (plus you can imagine the cost of the storage, assessment and the £350 excess to pay .......) Insurance broker is shut and we're, quite understandably, worried sick ....
  • Weight of petrol 30 Apr 2008 (Forum)
I know petrol does expand with temperature, but it got me wondering by what proportion, and does it matter? Most petrol station storage tanks are I presume underground, and so their temperature shouldn't vary much day by day, but should we be buying the stuff by weight?
  • Registration query re emmisions 17 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Slightly complicated one this, a vehicle was manufactured in 2000 and was put into storage then was registered in France in 2003 though still unused. The reason it was registered was because of euro emmisions regs it would not have been able to be registered as new after Dec 2003. So now if it was imported into the UK and registered here would if have a 03 or 53 plate based in it's date of first registration in France and it's emmisions compliance at that time?
  • Passat boot is too big! 6 Sep 2005 (Forum)
My point is.. is it really neccesary to have such a large trunk? why not more rear room instead. It's too much storage space for Mr average.
  • Accidents and AA / RAC cover 23 Jul 2003 (Forum)
A friend at work says the only reason he gets cover is for this eventuality, but another friend says that she had to pay for towing and storage costs after an accident. I'd always assumed they would recover the car as they always bandy words like recovery and rescue around, but thinking about it, the service they sell is *Breakdown* recovery.
  • Honda Jazz - Time for a change, maybe 30 Sep 2021 (Forum)
We're also in the process of moving house, so being mindful of the increasing necessity to shift large numbers of boxes between houses and storage units, this is what I'm thinking. Something bigger, again a hatchback, with as close as possible to Jazz-like reliability, a bit more oomph under the bonnet and a non-codger image to dissuade the tailgaters.
