• Citroen C3 - Battery Light Issue 31 Jan 2012 (Forum)
  Both the battery and the alternator have been checked by a mechanic and they seem to check out fine, but they have only been checked when no fault is showing. I've seen on this and other forums that people have had similar problems and had alternators and batteries changed and they haven't fixed the issue, so was wondering if there is a known issue with C3's?

  Hello, My Focus ST-2 has been in the garage having its steering rack replaced and a battery drain issue investigated. Twice in the last four or so months the battery has been dead first thing in the morning. Each time the AA have attended, jump started it and advised that the charging system and battery are fine and quite understandbly the dealer has been unable to replicate the fault.

  My battery was flat on the Golf when I got back from a 4 day break recently. Same battery from new so I jump started and went and bought a new Bosch Silver and fitted - all fine since. However I recently invested in a cheap multimeter and am now in the position that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

  So my thoughts are 1.if it was a high resistance battery terminal ie corrosion it would get hot but why would that cause the engine to stop. 2. If there was a lot of drain on the battery and caused the voltage to drop significantly and cause the + terminal to get hot would that stop the engine. 3.

  The red battery warning light stays on and the steering is very stiff. Is this the alternator or could it be something else instead or as well anyone?

  Obvious question, I suppose, but since I know a thing or two about electronics, how does one test a car battery ? Presumably under full load (engine, lights, rear screen heater), and then measure the voltage drop ? What should it be, given that it's normally 12v ?

  Anyone know if the original battery on a ford focus 1.6 auto needs topping up or if it is sealed? If it is unsealed I will order a Hydromoter. I can check tomorrow but it is too dark outside now.

  Hi, We have three cars in the family - an 06 corsa, 09 plate Kia pro ce'ed and a 13 plate kia ce'ed sw. The 13 plate has stop start technology and i was wondering what battery charger would you guys recommend. Thanks

  Hi all. Having issues with the battery charging. When I turn ignition on the battery light doesn't illuminate and when the engines running the battery gauge stays at 12 volts but when you rev it a couple of times the gauge goes up and it starts to charge.

  The remote alarm/unlocking keyfobs have not given out yet, but the batteries should probably be changed now at 6+ yrs old. Can anyone tell me whether this is a simple swap, or will there be immobiliser reprogramming issues etc to deal with? Thanks

  Hi I'm trying to replace the battery in the key fob for my wife's clio. Is it a question of levering the key apart with a screwdriver or does the key slide apart somehow. Any help greatly appreciated before I manage to wreck it!!

  Hello all, How do you check whether a 12 volt car battery charger is actually charging... Which is to say whether it's working or not. There's a fairly new battery in it and I'm wondering if it's the charger rather than the battery. Any help appreciated.

  I'm sure the battery is ok, its a heavy duty battery which is only 6 months old! This is what happened next. I called out the AA home start service. The mechanic told me that the battery was fine and that the alternator was to blame.

  hello > I have a renault 5, I replaced the starter motor with a used part which i am assured is in good order. During removal of the old starter i failed to disconnect the battery (stuupid!} and had a lot of fireworks, consequently i replaced the burnt out negative battery lead and the negative lead from the battery to the starter motor housing located at the remote end of the starter motor (away from the the starter armature end).

  It would seem that VW don't want anyone to charge the battery in my car except an authorised dealer.  Given the extensive electronics I can understand their nervousness!  I have what I think is a very good battery charger (Victron Energy Blue Smart) which provides a wealth of charging options and appears to have a very good auto charging facility.

  The car in question is a 2-litre petrol 165PS with stop-start. My 2014 example will need a new battery at some point. I'm trying to find out if it's a DIY job or not. Various Mazda owners' forums aren't being much help. One chap is suggesting the stop-start system will need re-setting after a new battery is fitted.

  I have a sixteen years old BMW which is fundamentally very reliable once it gets going! The battery is a two year old Varta which is very "iffy" It charges up but does not seem to hold the charge and test show no obvious electrical leak.  After a charge it dropped  to 10v when (not) starting so I intend o get a new battery.
