any - battery chargers - Robin the Technician

Hi,

We have three cars in the family - an 06 corsa, 09 plate Kia pro ce'ed and a 13 plate kia ce'ed sw. The 13 plate has stop start technology and i was wondering what battery charger would you guys recommend.

Thanks

Ctek MXS 5.0 would be my choice, I have a bigger one and it is superb.

If you want to spend less get one of the Aldi or Lidl ones when they have them.

I've got four of the Lidl chargers all hooked up to motorcycles. At a little over £10 each in France they are brilliant value and are very effective in keeping the batteries active. I have used one on a car that was laid up for a few months and just used the car setting on it. The only downside is after a powercut, of which we have quite a few over here, I have to go round and reset them.

Thanks for the replies guys. Is the Lidl/ Aldi charger suitable for stop/ start type batteries. Information is that I need a special charger...or is this a load of t***.

Thanks

Not sure but cannot see why since the alternator puts out regulated DC at around 15V. Calcium batteries need more voltage but it is still DC voltage.

Maybe there is a specific charging curve required?

I think the stop / Start batteries are AGM types. So as long as the charger has the snowflake(cold charging) option of 14.7Volts then it should be ok.
