Resetting the service indication - Micra 11 Jul 2004 (Forum)
I guess there is not likely to be anything as simple as grounding a pin like you can, apparently, when resetting the service indicator on an old Merc? -
Lumpy Skoda 30 Aug 2003 (Forum)
The engine in my grandfathers old 1993 Skoda Favorit has started acting very strangely. Here goes the story... Filled it up monday just gone, and yesterday (friday) he started it and a very strong vibration was going all the way through the car. -
Thanks to HN, thanks to you guys 28 Jul 2003 (Forum)
I am sure that in the years to come I will be checking in regularly to find information about anything to do with this car. And I will let you know how I get on with the car. Regards. -
Yaris antiroll bar bushes 20 Mar 2003 (Forum)
I'm beginning to suspect my lemon-seeking talents have struck again here... I'm sure the Yaris is a good car, I just seem to attract cars that develop lots of little niggles. -
Help needed - Fiesta Wheel Alignment 6 Sep 2002 (Forum)
One wheel was reading 5 and the other 7. They fixed this and the car was driving fine, but now the steering wheel was off-centre, I had to turn it to the left slightly to make the car go straight, when it was on-centre the car went to the right. Now, after a few visits, and swapping the wheels around, and checking the pressures, they have gradually adjusted the wheels to the left, they are now reading 9 and 8.5 (my understanding is that the further to the left the wheel points, the higher the reading) The car is still driving to the right if I have the wheel on-centre, and the steering feels a bit more woolly around the centre point. -
Honda Accord 30 Jul 2002 (Forum)
Hey all Your collective wisdom is needed. My flat-mate has just put a deposit down on a car and now wants some advice on what to look out for on this particular model (wrong way round I know). This is where I am hoping some of you have either long memories or old cars. This being NZ, it is a Honda Accord of the 1980 vintage. -
Stalling Ford Galaxy TDi 115 PD 30 Jan 2002 (Forum)
We have a 13 month old Galaxy with the much acclaimed Pump Duese VW engine. For a 1.7 ton car, it shifts very quickly, that it when it gets around the first corner. Unfortunately our car spent 4 weeks over Xmas and New Year with Ford Dealers trying to work out why it cut out soon after starting and would then not restart and needed to be towed away by the RAC. -
DAB - DAB+ 11 Dec 2023 (Forum)
Are such devices still available, and do they exist to do the same for DAB+ to either FM or DAB, or even directly via the car's USB port or Bluetooth to the in-car entrainment system, depending upon the car? My old Mazda3 only has LW/MW/FM, but as I've not looked for a replacement since 2016/17, I have no idea whether most cars are now capable of accepting DAB+, DAB and/or analogue signals. -
Cars on the Isle of Wight 26 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Ive just got back off holiday from there and I was amazed at how many old cars there are there. Loads of Morris Minors and I mean loads - I never went on a trip out without seeing 2 that i hadnt seen before. Also VW's are very popular - many Beetles and Campers around. Also saw a Humber Sceptre, Rover 80, Talbot Samba Convertible, countless 1930's cars in brilliant condition, a 1950s Alvis Convertible, well worn but clearly in use parked outside the local chinese and so many more esp 1960's cars. -
Once Upon a Time...a sad tale 15 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Once upon a time, I had my car and my wife had her car. I loved my car and looked after it as well as I could, parking in remote spots at Tescos, going slowly over the speed bumps (or driving an extra mile to avoid them) and making sure it was serviced on time and by proper Subaru people. -
Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tuscon, Vauxhall Mokka - 'New' SUV 9 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Anything that's between 3_6 years old will do me. If anyone has any insight into the cars listed or any others that may be similar I would appreciate any info. Many thanks. -
Why MPVs gone out of fashion? 22 May 2021 (Forum)
Just too many SUVs and not enough MPVs. Some car magazines now featuring vans (like Ford Tourneo, Berlingo, ProAce Verso etc.) as cars! PS: Sorry, didn't realized posted in wrong section. [I will boot it over into the Motoring forum, moderator] -
volvo - What is the best car for me? 10 Jul 2020 (Forum)
I am in need of a car that has the following: - decent high up drive level - decent MPG - preferably diesel, though not essential - decent boot space I have been looking at Volvo XC70/90, these come up trumps in most areas, but I'm not a fan of anything Automatic. -
BMW 3 Series - Charge for fault finding while under warranty? 2 Oct 2019 (Forum)
A work colleague bought a 320 from a BMW main dealer under BMW's Approved Used scheme a couple of months back. The car is just over a year old, with the balance of the 3-year warranty remaining etc. He asked me about some recurrent squeaking noises from the rear suspension, so I went to have a look with him (he's not mechanically-minded). -
Any - Newcastles clean air zone proposal, what a joke 16 Jun 2019 (Forum)
What a farce, as usual the justification is emissions, and their answer is to charge EVERY car a fine to drive through the city. They even claim to have considered (briefly I'm sure) fining more polluting cars only, but there's no money in that, as people will gradually upgrade and replace their cars with more efficient ones. -
Ford Galaxy - PCM problems 5 May 2019 (Forum)
That was over 4 months ago and the Galaxy is still at the dealer. They cannot get the new PCM to speak (handshake) with the rest of the car - the dash says it is immobilised. They have tried two different new PCMs now. If you put the old PCM back in then it starts up fine, albeit with the same cutting out issues as before. The dealer has tried their best. -
Volvo XC90 - running costs of a Volvo XC90 15 Mar 2015 (Forum)
However my car is slowly falling apart and I am looking to 'upgrade' slightly to a 2004/05 XC90. I have a 2 year old son with very complex medical needs and his consultants are all based in london even though we now live in the westcountry. -
Ford Grand C-MAX - Anyone has Ford Grand C-Max 1l petrol? 28 Jan 2015 (Forum)
Most petrol 7 seaters are hard to find and thirsty with around 40 mpg combined, not much better than our current old petrol car. Since we hold our cars for years there's no point in risking a diesel which may later become too "dirty" plus all its low speed-associated issues. Anyway sorry for the long introduction - Grand C-Max is on the agenda with the most economical 1 ltr petrol engine (seems there's a facelifted model coming soon but I don't know if the petrol engines are changing or not). -
New MOT- another query 19 Apr 2013 (Forum)
There has been much discussion about the new MOT. I cannot decide what to do for the best. My car is in excellent condition at 7 years old with 165K miles. It has sailed through previous tests and would do so again. Dealer maintained and well kept. However, 2 years ago SWMBO did for a door when a bollard jumped in front of her at Sainsbury's (that's her story anyway). -
VW Passat - Fuel injectors failure on VW Passat 55 plate 28 Jul 2012 (Forum)
I came accross your site by luck, and did find out that we were not the only one troubled by fuel injector failure. When injector 1 failed, the car had only 55k miles and was 6 years old.....and did cost £880 to fix at a local garage. It was repaired but they said that the other 3 are likely to fail soon. This happened indeed 3,000 miles later.
