---------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------- Not read thriough all the info yet, but just had long awaited literature from Citi, who will be operating the Shell Credit Card from July. Briefly... 3% cashback on Shell fuel purchases (max £5000 per year) so not as good as it might be for business use, but fair for ordinarry customers. 1% on other purchases extended warranty on DOMESTIC appliances - not sure if it's just washing machines etc, or tv's & cameras, sat nav & stuff) price drop refund - if what you buy gets cheaper, for short period after purchase.
  • The viability of a diesel? 29 May 2007 (Forum)
So, one needs to work out whether the premium is worth paying and whether the extra will be recouped through lower fuel bills over the life of the car. I'm OK up to this point. However, If as I suspect, it would take say 3/4 years to recoup this premium, the car in my case will have done the best part of 80k miles and thus may be looking to get replaced.
  • Petrol/Diesel (Again) 26 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Hi All After becoming almost "obsessed" with fuel prices after buying a petrol car, today I was amazed to see,at my local Tesco the difference between Petrol and Diesel down to 0.9p a litre. 93.9 for petrol and 94.8 for diesel.I know we are approaching hotter weather and usually has an effect on Diesel prices, but never seen it this low.
  • Nissan Micra Idling Badly and Stalling 23 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Hello I have a 998 cc Nissan Micra, year 2000 (W reg). It is converted to LPG so it is bi-fuel. In the last couple of weeks it has started stalling, particularly when starting up and slowing down and we don't know what the problem is. We had the distributor replaced as we initially thought it was the ignition coil.
  • audi a4 tdi oil mist showing. 15 Apr 2007 (Forum)
I have noticed an oily mist appearing on underside of fancy engine cover trim. Taken cover off and it appears to come from the fuel intake manifold (high level), what I assume is the automatic choke. Black object with linkage arm adjusting butterfly.). I removed the large diameter intake, just behind butterfly (crosses over top of engine coming from some sort of cooling/heating radiator) removing half circular spring clip first, fine oil is present inside tube.
  • Kia Pride EGR 28 Mar 2007 (Forum)
I presume the air filter would stay cleaner for longer, but I'm thinking less exhaust gas equals more air, more air equals leaner mixture, leaner mixture means lambda sensor makes mixture richer (goodness knows how), more air plus more fuel equals more performance? Would there be any down side?
  • complex wiring issue(not model specific) 17 Mar 2007 (Forum)
The basis for this is an engine that runs on carbs and single point coil with dizzy. I need to cut the fuel pump in the case of engine stalling etc. I tried using a relay triggered by the coil's negative but this didnt switch off when the engine cut out, it appears the negative is still live.
  • Ford Explorer LPG misfire on petrol 16 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Recently I bought a 2000 model Ford Explorer converted to run on LPG (dual-fuel - Romano system; no idea whether it's fully sequential or not) When running on LPG, it runs lovely and smooth, but when I switch to petrol (it needs to start up on petrol, then switches over) it runs with the most appalling misfire.
  • New Mazda3 - Starting hesitation 15 Feb 2007 (Forum)
Prior to this the car started at the first turn of the key, very much like the previous Mazdas I've owned over the years. So, the starter motor is turning, but would appear to be a fuel problem perhaps. The car hasn't been 'flooded' because there's no situation that could have caused it. If it continues, then it's back to the Mazda dealer, and then I suppose the fun will start there, or maybe not!
  • Refuelling mishap Pug307 - advice sought 19 Jan 2007 (Forum)
He then drove the short distance (no more than 1 mile) back to the office. The RAC collected the car, and took it off for the fuel system to be drained locally and car was refiiled with Diesel, cost for this was around £150. I have been talking to my colleague as my concern is that he may have problems with the car in the future.
  • Ford Focus Instrument Cluster 12 Jan 2007 (Forum)
Hi - I've just had to have a new instrument cluster installed on my 2003 Ford Focus. I'd had problems with the speedo, fuel guage and rev counter all going haywire then settling at zero and not moving! I've done some research and it would appear that this is quite a common fault with the Ford Focus. Has anyone any idea how I can find out if Ford have issued a technical service bulletin on this?
  • Audi A4 TDI 130 Problem 1 Jan 2007 (Forum)
The car does a minimum of 150 motorway miles a week plus other driving so I can't see that it can be too sooted-up. Also, some days (on the same tank of fuel) it just doesn't smoke at all even if I try to make it. What is this likely to be ? I have discounted MAF, and air filter, so could it be another valve sticking or a sensor problem of some type ?
  • Fiesta mk3 problem 28 Dec 2006 (Forum)
The problem seems to go away once the car has been driven for abit. It also seems to stutter just before this happens, there is aways fuel in the car (Always above quarter of a tank) and has had a new exhaust fitted resently. I've tried redex to see if that helps but it didn't. It does have a foxguard immobiliser but was running fine for ages, the fault only started a couple of weeks ago so I have no idea whats causing it.
  • Mondeo Cutting Out 2 Dec 2006 (Forum)

  • engine quiting. Ford Puma 9 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Some times it would just die and I would be stuck in road for 5 minutes until it started back up. Doesn't seem to battery as lights are ok and connections look fine. You can hear fuel pump so I think the immobiliser is ok. No warning lights are on. Using the trip button trick I was able to get the following 2 error codes from the ECU 5967 and 0115. Any suggestions?
  • secondhand vans 19 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Some kind of short wheelbase 1 ton(ish) job. Main considerations are £2000 or considerably less, cheap & easy to maintain, good fuel economy especially on small hilly country roads, but also having the ability for a bit of speed on motorway runs. Cosmetic condition of no importance but essential that it has been rigorously maintained and that the model has a reputation for a long and trouble free life.
  • 96 VW Golf 1.9D starting problem 22 Sep 2006 (Forum)
I had the glow-plugs changed yesterday but it is still giving the same problem. The only other thing that I have not changed for a while is the fuel filter. Please does anyone know what else it could be. Thanks in advance.
  • Green Police ! 1 Sep 2006 (Forum)
As well, the Toyota Lexus RX400h hybrid SUV is currently undergoing trials in the U.K. for full police duty, including patrol and emergency response. I wonder if this will result in lower council tax bills aftere the savings in fuel costs. I think not somehow. Cue the Hybrids not being economical debate !
  • Vauxhall Astra 1.7TDI (2003) misfiring. 25 Jul 2006 (Forum)
There does not seem to be any one thing that makes it do it allthough it possibly seems to be worse on & after motorway driving & also when the weather is hot. I have replaced the fuel filter & put injector cleaner through it but with no luck. Does anybody have any ideas as to what it may be & what I could do the cure it. Many thanks Russell.
