Vw Passat 07 plate - Just bought a used car which has a issue 14 Sep 2016 (Forum)
It has a full service history and had its cambelt and water pump changed. At first I couldn't find anything wrong with it. The test drive felt smooth and I left the engine running and I couldn't find any issues. I purchased the car on the 1st. Driving it home I noticed a vibration in the steering wheel which has now being resolved (after two trips to the dealer) The main issue I seem to be having is after drive down the motorway or for a fair distance I get a strong vibration in the cabin. -
Ford Fiesta 2010 - Do I need to change timing belt before its time? 16 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I can understand that as I always go to my local garage but the fact I have no history on the car is a bit worrying even though the mechanic said the car was in good condition for six year old. Can a timing belt be damaged if the person was driving short distances and type of driving, or if the car wasn't serviced properly or is it just with miles and age that a timing belt get damaged? Sorry for so many questions but as you can see, I don't know anything about cars and my friend comment is stressing me out! -
NISSAN MICRA 1.0LTR W REG - TRANSMISSION GEAR WONT MOVE IN D, D1 OR REVERSE 2 Jan 2016 (Forum)
The car was working fine except for over heating. I have bought the car 4 months ago to teach my mrs how to drive and the ca only drive around the street and water had always been topped up each time the temperature rises. First I noticed the engine oil had turned whitish/yellow and the transmission oil black and the engine warning light was blinking then later the car will only start for few seconds the switch off itself. -
Ford C-MAX (2003 - 2010) - 04 1.8 Oil Warning Light 8 Nov 2015 (Forum)
Hi All Im completely green about cars, know very little about them. I have a C-Max 04 and its been relatively reliable. The other day i was driving it and randomly the oil light came on. I was near a petrol station so i pulled over to check it and the level was lowish...but not below the minimum. So I bought some oil and topped up. Light stayed on. -
Peugeot - 2.0 Hdi power loss, EGR, Turbo? 2 Nov 2015 (Forum)
Car in question is my dad's Peugeot 806 2.0hdi Y reg. I was driving it a couple of weeks ago and noticed that the power steering was very heavy (not sure if thats relevant) and the car itself just had no poke at all. I used to love driving it as it had a good bit of oomph When I mentioned this to my dad he said that he had noticed when he was pulling his caravan that he was having to change down gears a lot when he doesn't normally need to. -
Italian Driving Fines...what to do? 13 Jul 2015 (Forum)
Hello All, I am hoping for guidance towards the legitimacy of getting a ticket after a year of perhaps having committed a driving offence in Italy. Last year on Aug 27th (27/08/2012) I had flown to Pisa and had rented a vehicle for 4 days. -
Larger Estate - Another Petrol v Diesel question! - with specifics 9 Feb 2015 (Forum)
These are : - I need a larger estate e.g Passat, Octavia, Mondeo, Mazda 6 - I have about £4700 - The car will be used primarily for a 9 mile motorway trip to the airport and back for work (18 mile total), approx 15 times a month(working a 4 on 4 off shift pattern) and some occasional urban driving on my days off (short distances). - My driving style is a mixture of conservative and occasionally liking to plant my right foot(if I'm without family or running late for work). I drive at 70-80 on the motorway. -
Citroen Xsara Picasso Diesel - Can't engage fifth gear 26 Aug 2014 (Forum)
Before I drive it anywhere else and also before I ring a garage I was hoping to get some informed opinion on possible cause. Obviously at this milage if it is a problem internal to the gearbox then I would possibly be better off looking for another car. -
Focus C-Max 1.6TDCI 2005 - Engine Management Light - Intermittent @ 70mph+!? 25 Mar 2013 (Forum)
Hi Guys, Had this C-max around a month or so now, and it's been absolutely fine to drive. A few small issues sorted out by my local garage, but nothing out of the ordinary for a car of this age. Some background - it has a full service history, two female owners, with 90k on the clock. -
Mazda 6 - 2l petrol Mazda 6 stalling at junctions 11 Mar 2013 (Forum)
As I've had flat battery issues before, I decided to use this opportunity to replace the battery and a new battery has not solved the stalling problem. (following advice I've read, I'd let the car idle on the drive for 25 minutes once the new battery was connected). I think the key thing here is that the stalling only occurs when the car is moving - the car starts fine, it will idle fine whilst sat on the drive and it will also idle fine once the handbrake is on and the car is stationary at a junction. -
BMW 320d SE (07 plate) - Car cutting out 14 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Started this morning, it was cold 1.5C and the car started fine, but after this for about 3 seconds it sounded like it was struggling, this was whilst I was idle on the drive. Then, I filled up with diesel (and I've checked it was DEFO diesel), and whilst waiting with the engine on after I'd filled up it just cut out, then I set off and the car just cut out whilst driving, the electrics (ie indicators) still worked, but all power was lost. -
Hyundai Accent - Car Buying Advice 2000 Hyundai Accent 22 Jun 2012 (Forum)
Would I be spending lots of money on maintainence after getting it? I will most probably have a test drive before getting it to see if it drives ok. Also, if I have to replace all the stuff written above how much would that cost me for an Hyundai accent if anyone has an idea (With/Without disc brakes, as they may need replacing as well)? -
Peugeot 107 - Knocking noise after changing brake pads and discs 18 Jun 2012 (Forum)
When I put everything back on, I made sure that all the nuts I took off (four in total, and one screw for the disc) were put back on and secure before I put the wheel back on. What is the likely cause? I'm contemplating ringing the RAC because I don't fancy driving it back home while it makes this noise. Thanks in advance! -
Audi A4 Allroad - First Time Buyers help 11 Mar 2012 (Forum)
I am an American living in France, and I could really use some help I need to buy our first car. As my US permit is not valid here, I cannot legal drive yet in France so my wife is going to handle the chauffering details until I get my French Drivers license. Neither of us have a ton of driving experiance We need the following: 1. We prefer some sort of MPV/SUV/Crossover over hatchbacks for 2 adults and a future baby. -
Volvo V50 2.0 R Design - Volvo V50 2.0 R Design - Change of circumstances 29 Jan 2012 (Forum)
So we are a 2 car family, our car is a Volvo V50 2.0 R Design 08 reg and we also have a company car which is a BMW 320d Efficient Dynamics. I travel 90 miles each day to the office and back, so I drive the BMW and my wife drives the Volvo her 10 miles each day. We don't have any kids or dogs so we don't particularly need an Estate car but I like the Volvo and its really handy when a group of us drive to the Alps each year. -
Volkswagen Passat (2005 - ) - Passat "Auto Hold" - Auto Hell 4 Sep 2011 (Forum)
The electronic handbrake and "Auto Hold" has aged me ten years and I am a gibbering wreck. I never, never want to own or drive a car with an electronic parking brake ever again. Despite steady, gentle driving for the first few miles, I managed to stall the engine three times, once while exiting a multi-storey. Sudden loss of power assistance led to a larger than intended turning circle and a light scrape against the side wall. -
Any - Left Hand Drive Cheapo MPV wanted for Portugal 26 Aug 2011 (Forum)
To those still here since I last visited - hope you're all well and still helping us poor souls out with our Car issues and questions. I've spent the last couple of months looking at Left Hand Drive cars for a very specific purpose, to be used for approx 4-6 weeks per year but must be registered in Portugal It's a long story, but I have family in a specific part of Portugal and we visit often, but the cost of renting a car with at least 6 seats is exorbitant for a few weeks a year (often costs in excess of £500 per week including insurance). -

Hyundai ix35 - Hyundai ix35 Problems 7 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Please advise as I might try and get a refund, which would be a shame as it is a nice car to drive. -
