SEAT Leon II (2005 - ) - Climate Control 12 May 2008 (Forum)
all, just a quick question thats driving me mad. Bought a 2 year old Leon at the start of the year. All was flying with it but with the weather a bit warmer i was setting the climate contol to the "LO" setting to cool the car. However the air was not air con cold. it was more cold ish really. i use the air con regulary even when heating up the car and window demisting and to be honest i never really noticed much of a difference between it being on or off. i dont really use the auto function at all, just the manual cool for air into my face. -
Citroen Xantia (1993 - 2000) - 95 1.9td hydractive suspension problems 26 Apr 2008 (Forum)
Bought car last December and one of the attractions was that the previous owner had had a lot of the things fixed that were wrong with my previous one, including 7 new spheres(it's hydractive) I've always thought it was riding a bit hard.I've changed the LHM,and cleaned the filters. The accumulator sphere didn't look as new as the others so I changed that which has improved things but it still don't feel right. It does sink a bit when left sometimes.I gave it a bounce today (engine running) the rear felt O.K but the front feels a lot stiffer than my old one(non hydractive)did. After standing idle for a while the front is more or less solid and the rear is stiffer than when running(I think). It's a lovely car otherwise and I'd really like to get it running 100%.Any of you citroen experts out there got any advice please? -

But what happens with the mileage, does that get transfered into he new speedo or do you end up with the mileage the previous car had done? Also if you have the mileage of the old car, i know you woudn't be able to change it for obvious reasons, but how do you notify the correct people. Any advice would be great thankyou. -
Dodgy Practice? 18 Feb 2008 (Forum)
A manufacturer is currently advertising an attractive package very heavily in the national press and indeed on this very website. So off we all go to local dealer and their response, is they only had 3 each of the cars/package in question and the deal is now off. So why the heavy ad. campaign says I? They shrug their shoulders and say nothing other than the campaign will run in to March. But of course they can still sell the very same car to us under a different deal. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - Suggestions for replacing... 30 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I have discounted anything smaller than the mondeo estate and have a real hankering for a Nissan Pathfinder, though I would only be able to afford a one which has lots and lots of miles on. Seriously though, any suggestions would be appreciated. I reckon my car is worth £1200 and I could afford probably about another £7-8,000. I do on average 10,000 miles a year, am 31 years old and am a Pisces. P E -
Renault Clio 1 Petrol (1991 - 1998) - '97 1.2 86k Stuttering Engine 13 Nov 2007 (Forum)
On coming home there appears to be no power coupled with hesitation, changing down gears doesn't help, only managed 60 on the flat, stuttering, 70 down hill, no stuttering. The only previous experience was symptoms like this was a cracked distributor cap on an old cortina. The Clio engine will stall once stationary or coasting but will immediately start on the key I've cleaned the plugs which looked normal based on Haynes pictures. this resulted in the car maintaining it's idle, although it was rough. -
Skoda Fabia (2000 - 2007) - Good Cust service 1 Oct 2007 (Forum)
Noticed recently that one of the alloys on my Fabia vrS was showing signs of corrosion. Car is 2 1/2 years old. Went to dealer (Henrys in Glasgow) who took photos of it and emailed away. Skoda authorised replacement under warranty. Henrys allowed me to collect the wheel, take it home and apply loads of Autoglyms finest to it to save me time in the long run with cleaning. -
FM radio reception after crash repair 1 Jun 2007 (Forum)
I don't have lots of time (or skill) to investigate - can anyone suggest what might have happened or how to narrow the fault down? I've checked the transmitter info - there's no work going on or power reduction etc. The very old radio in my other car works fine - so I'm completely confused. Thanks! CD -
Why do bikers do it? 25 May 2007 (Forum)
Would it not have made more sense for these couples (most seemed to have a pillion today) to have travelled to the beauty spot by car (maybe a two seater). After all they could have stood next to their bikes in just about any car park, couldn't they. Incidentally I don't aim this at any particular biker or pillion, it is just a general observation and does not necessarily relect the views of any other reader or non reader of this site, blah-di-blah-blah:-) -
MOT vagaries 6 May 2007 (Forum)
However, every few years for some unknown reason the tester decides to use the previous standards, and only CO is tested, with a less exacting pass rate. This has happened twice in the past. Yesterday it was again tested under the old regs, the print-out clearly stating "Non-catalyst". After I had got the pass certificate safely in my pocket I asked the tester, as a matter of interest, why he had used the non-cat test even though the car clearly has a cat and is post-92. -
clutch failure on 2005 8000-mile Meriva 5 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Of course it is possible that he has been unwittingly riding the clutch pedal. He is 84 years old after all. On the other hand he has been driving for 55 years and never before worn out a clutch. There have been no problems with the clutch on his previous car - an Astra - that I bought from him in 2005 with 30,000 miles on the clock and still own. -
Isofix group 1 seat 26 Feb 2007 (Forum)
My daughter is close to 9kg and we need a group 1 car seat, Isofix compatible. Has anyone bought one recently? We have been looking, but very few stores keep a wide selection. The key issue is the seat will have to be moved from one car to another every day, so anything too fiddly, or heavy will cause problems. -
weber carb icing on golf 28 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Im pulling my hair out now as i work for an Audi dealer and even the old skool techs are stumped! Ive only owned the car for a couple of weeks and changed the carb as the 2E2 was rubbish!! The weber is a second hand item but was told it came off an 1800 (which mine is) so i cam only presume the jets are fine. -
Clio tyre wear and noises 12 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Afternoon All, how goes? As per previous notes, I have not changed my old clio and have decided to to run it into the ground and buy a car for the other half, she will not see it very often as it will be small and fast. Anyway... I am having a few probs with the nearside front wheel/tyre. -
Skoda Fabia Head Gasket problem 14 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Dear all, having found "Honest John" very useful in showing that my problem is not unknown I'd like to ask a few questions.. Background: Fabia 1.4 8V, 2000, 6K miles from new! Skoda deny that cars were shipped with incorrectly tensioned "stretch bolts" as detaiiled on this site. I have signs of a head gasket on the way out - the car has never overheated. I bought it at 5yrs old with 1300 miles on the clock..!! -
2004 mondeo tdci - oil sludge buildup 14 Aug 2006 (Forum)
For some strange reason I decided to remove the inlet manifold and to my horror found that it was extremely clogged with black oil sludge, to the point whereby I would say the inlet ports were restricted by 50%. I have subsequently cleaned the manifold and ports however on a car which is only 2 years old and done 57,000 miles (mainly motorway) however I am astounded by the buildup. My question is, has anyone come across it before or have any ideas why this might have hapened. -
Mondeo TDCi Oil Level 2 May 2006 (Forum)
I've recently bought a 6 month old Mondeo TDCi 130 with 8000 miles on the clock. The car isn't due it's first service til 12500 miles. After owning it for three weeks I've only just dipped the oil and am a tad worried as it's well over the maximum mark. -
"Fully Funded" Insurance Claim Question 21 Dec 2005 (Forum)
Has anyone made a claim using this method and how did they find it compared to making the claim directly (which elephant are happy for me to do if I wish)? The car concerned is a year old V70 D5 SE and I think it is quite possible it will be a write off or certainly a large bill so the claim may be substancial. Thanks.
