  • Mazda 6 - -- Watchdog Visit -- for Mazda owners 4 Jul 2010 (Forum)
Hello Everyone, For those of you who are aware of the current Mazda problems whether it be the famous DPF problem to tyre wear & valves snapping off - i have waited long enough for a government agency to do something about it after ignoring all of our complaints and stories. I am going down to Watchdog in London tomorrow, so sorry for the short notice but if any of you are interested in supporting me with covering letters from your self then it would make the visit to watchdog a lot stronger.
  • Filth beyond belief - descending gaga to cylinders 16 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Or rather `the facilitator of filth` I`ve just blanked off the EGR on the 1.9D (as in tech) But woa.. what wet oily filth has been descending.. I`m amazed engines keep running... Now add DPF.. Engine designer thinking... "Well. we`ve got filth descending from the EGR on the intake stroke - lets squirt neat derv into the bores on the exhaust stroke" Engine oil really must be amazing stuff these days, don`t you think?
  • Mazda Mazda 6 (2002 - 2007) - 06 2.0d Reset Computer After Oil/Filter Change 4 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Having read all the troubles about DPF's and all, I've decided to change the oil and filter myself after 6000 miles between dealer services. I gather that somehow I need to tell the computer the oil and filter have been changed. Is there a way I can do this, has anyone else experience of this?
  • Which car next??? 22 Sep 2017 (Forum)
Also what kinda mpg would I get from the petrol? As I know they'd cost more on fuel but after buying a failed dpf it would even out right?     Again I'm sorry for boring everyone with the same topic and for this being soo loooong ?? Any thoughts?
  • Ford Focus Mk2 Hatchback - Advice On Which Car To Buy 23 Feb 2017 (Forum)

  • Peugeot 407 SW - 1.6HDi No Power, Black Smoke 18 Aug 2015 (Forum)
After a few days of driving it lost all power and would not rev over 2000-2500 rpm, it did not even have enough power to pull away on a fairly flat road, I also got the "anti pollution fault" message. I plugged the diag machine in (Peugeot Planet) and it informed me that the DPF was blocked.  I also suspected the Turbo was at fault, so as money is tight at the moment I replaced the turbo cartridge/CHRA, while I had the car in bits I removed the DPF and gave it a good clean with a pressure washer and Mr Muscle oven cleaner.
  • Which used estate would you buy-petrol or diesel? 26 Aug 2016 (Forum)
I did have a Mazda 3 2007 1.6 Diesel and (I'm guessing here...) due to my driving habits, short commute etc, I experienced terrible and expensive DPF problems. The whole experience has REALLY put me off ever owning another diesel. I am really only considering it because of my increased mileage on the horizon.  Can anyone tell me if the newest versions of the cars above suffer from DPF issues if they are driven on short commutes?
  • Used estate/MPV - holy grail sought. 16 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I may be wrong but I get the impression that the Ford DPF's are a bit more tolerant of non-motorway/high revs. miles than some others so maybe the diesel option isn't ruled out. Having said that, I believe that many modern petrol engines are heading in the same hugely complicated direction, so they may actually be no better an option for someone like me.
  • When was ‘peak petrol’? 27 Jan 2024 (Forum)
Common rail or PD injection systems that give relatively quiet running, easy cold starting, plenty of torque, tall gearing, decent fuel economy and none of the emissions related DPF and AdBlue problems that blight newer diesels. …but when was/is peak petrol? The demise of new internal combustion engines over the next decade or two could suggest that we’ve not peaked yet, but a lot of future investment will be spent on EV, hydrogen etc.
  • Economy run 12 Sep 2023 (Forum)
Pug 207SW diesel 1.6 HDi, 83K miles, no DPF.  Last Thursday did round trip Fordsham - Shrewsbury - Wenlock - Craven Arms and return by A49, 140 miles, mostly A roads with about 20% B roads, mostly light traffic, with short hold-up on Shrewsbury east bypass.
  • Mitsubishi L200 - L200 noise help 11 Jul 2022 (Forum)
This is when driving and also when in neutral revving the engine. A local garage has had a look and they think it could be the DPF causing the noise. They informed me they took the turbo apart to see if anything there is causing it and they put a smoke machine on the car to see if any holes are present, they could not find any issues.
  • Renault Captur 1.3 Red Edition - Can this be real? I’m impressed with a French Car 11 Jul 2021 (Forum)
One question has any one had any experience of the 0.9 petrol. Is it four cylinder and is the diesel beset with DPF problems if used locally ?
  • Mazda 3 1.5 petrol - Mazda 3 to buy or not to buy 10 Apr 2021 (Forum)
Are there any potential problems or things I need to look out for for this at this age (5 years) and mileage.  I am aware of DPF problems on the diesel versions of these cars but wondered if there are any known issues with the petrol engines. The car is only likely to do around 5k a year and so I am happy to get a higher mileage car provided its mechanically sound and reliable.
  • Skoda Fabia - Buying 57 plate fabia 1.9 tdi pd2 12 Aug 2020 (Forum)

To demonstrate this fact, the law firm below currently enjoys a 100% success rate in achieving just outcomes for such owners in ombudsman hearings https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/land-rover-dpf-issues-oil-dilution-philip-harmer-mciarb/ https://www.dropbox.com/s/d0bcrd7sve4l598/D8_Dilution_Explained.pdf?dl=1
  • KIA Pro_Cee'd - MOT emissions fail - Scrap or Not 6 Jul 2019 (Forum)
My Kia has just failed its MOT on emissions - no doubt like many others recently - garage said it came back as 4 on the test (seen a limit of 3.0 mentioned on some posts) - the garage said they could add cleaner but it would not get it under the limit and it needs a new filter which would be over £1000 plus possibly injectors at £600 - and even then it may not fix the issue. Have i got any hope of giving the car to one of these DPF cleaning companies (Halfords do it i've seen)  or is this reading way of the scale and I may as well scrap the car as its only worth £2500 - its worth more to me on the road so willing to gamble up to £300  tthanks for any advice
  • Audi A4 B6 - Time to replace my A4 B6 Tdi 2003 6 Jul 2019 (Forum)
But I'm finding it difficult to find a car to replace it with because of the fabulous performance of the PD 130 bhp engine and general refinement. Short listed cars are Rover 75 and any diesel without a DPF with a budget of £5000. Had the new cars and don't want to return . A day testing various models didn't inspire me. Any ideas please ?
  • Volvo XC90 - Non regulated Business Hire Contract Termination 11 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Subsequently the car has developed an emissions fault, warning light and has to go back to dealer (not the DPF). The dealer has made three attempts to fix under warranty, but has failed. I wish to reject the car, but I understand that I won't be covered by consumer law, or finance as it's an unregulated hire agreement.
  • Honest John's Motoring Agony Column 27-01-2018 Part 1 30 Jan 2018 (Forum)
Obviously diesel may fall into the sump whether or not the engine is turned on, but bear in mind that a diesel stops because fuel stops being injected, so turning it off during a cycle will be trivial in comparison. My Mazda 6 oil level rises irrespective of driving style, and DPF regeneration varies between160-230 km seemingly irrespective of driving style, so it is crazy to drive another 15km every time it wants to regenerate.
  • Ford Focus Estate 2008 1.6tdci - ENGINGE MALFUNCTION- NO FAULT CODE 3 May 2017 (Forum)
Hi! Recently fixed all the major problems with my ford, Dpf, Additive module, Turbo charger, Controll valve for tubo(overboost situatoion), and EGR circuit low wich was given by Blocked Intercooler by-pass valves. I still have a problem that seems to be coming form nowhere.
