big petrol motor - Should I wait to buy until after new tax rules 15 Mar 2017 (Forum)
looking to replace old car. notice dealer stock seems to be selling very quickly at the moment. suspect this is partly (or so a dealer told me) due to people trying to buy to avoid paying new tax rates. so, is it likely that car sales will drop in april, leading to more stock and better deals/offers coming out April onwards? -
Mazda 2 - Creaking sound from steering wheel or column 9 May 2015 (Forum)
Hi, should I be worried about a creaking noise when parking? It only happens when I turn the steering wheel, when I am manouevring my car, a Mazda 2 Sport, in and out of a parking space, so is something to do with the steering. The car is 2.5 years old and has only done about 6000 miles, so surely nothing should have worn out yet? Thanks. -

hi, I'm looking for a car about 3 years old which has to be very reliable. Thinking that the obvious choice would be japanese and was wondering if anyone has any bad things to say about Toyotas before I go out and buy one. Probably going for a petrol this time and about astra(ish) size. -

Ford Escort 1600 petrol 1998 - Brake fluid change 13 Sep 2010 (Forum)
In the servicing manual for this car it recommends changing the brake fluid every 3 years irrespective of mileage, which I have been doing over the last 10years I've had the car. I am now told this is all old hat & is no longer necessary. -
Nissan Sunny (1986 - 1991) - 88 1.4 Fuel and temp guages both not working 17 Jun 2010 (Forum)
(The two guages are side by side). Other than that, for a 22 year old car that cost just £250 with tax and test it is pretty damn good! -
Honda Jazz - Dealer Servicing or Not ? 16 Jun 2010 (Forum)
Hi All, Have a 53 Jazz thats needs major service and been quoted around the £500 mark for it. Now in my younger days I handled almost any job on a car and can more than easily do a major on my Jazz ( mind the comfort of a heated garage with full Audio entertainment, soft furnishing on floor and surgical gloves are a pre-req these days ) and was wondering, as the car is now 7 yr old, is there any valuein a dealer stamped service history at that age ? -
"Collision" drama on ITV1 9.00pm Monday 9 November 22 Dec 2009 (Forum)
I'm watching it now, for a high-budget drama the realism of the vehicles is lacking somewhat. There's a MkI (95-99) Sprinter van on 51 plates, and a millionaire in a £4,000 10-year-old Mercedes. The police traffic car looks to be a bog-standard Mondeo. There are more true-to-life police cars in The Bill. The "collision" hasn't happened on-screen yet, but I'm willing to bet it will rival Marcus's Renault A610 exploding in El Dorado for realism... -

Pathe News - Earls Court Motor Shows (1960's) 6 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Just found some fantastic footage of London Motor Shows from the 1960's. Oh, those clipped tones, the great smell of Brut, the hot pants..........oh and there are old cars too! Utterly brilliant ....memories. I have driven one or two of the cars on show and remember my Dad having some too. Follow this link for 1 of them, the remainder are on the right hand side of the youtube page. -
Peugeot 407 Coupe (2006 - ) - New Windscreen 22 Apr 2009 (Forum)
Got viciously attacked by a stone on the m/way yesterday, leaving me with a large crack in my windscreen. Cars being what they are today, it's laminated ,heat reflecting glass with light and wiper sensors installed. The car is only two years old and I'd like to get it done through a Peugeot dealer, so there can be do arguments about honouring the warranty if problems arise. -
Renault Clio III (2005 - 2009) - 08 1.5 Steering column vibration 18 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hi All My steering column has started juddering whilst the car is idling. (It probably does it whilst on the move, but the road surface hides this.) I'm SURE that it wasn't like this before. The car is two months old from brand new, and has covered 3,500 miles. -
Anyone buy on finance and return it after 3 years? 31 Jan 2008 (Forum)
Hi Looking at whether its worth me doing the type of deals where you buy a car on finance for 3 years, and then return it to them. Cars I am considering inc Suzuki Vitara - as they are doing 0% credit. I currently drive a old Pajero - done me well, but thinking now I fancy a nice bit of creature comforts and wondered if anyone does what I am thinking. -
A "get me home" DIY job - legal or not? 6 Aug 2007 (Forum)
hi, my throttle cable broke yesterday (earlier post) but I've managed to get the car working with the aid of some strong wire anchored to the carb lever threaded through the bonnet into my driver window, how illegal is that to operate i only want to get the car back ( 4 miles) out of a no go area, will the old bill want a word or am I risking points if I proceed?
