  Im sorry but I find many of the questions asked on these pages banal; I mean someone paid £300 for a 16 year old car with 225,000 miles on the clock and thinks he's entitled to money back if the garage px value was less than this? Seriously?

  Our car is just over 2 months old having bought from new. At times it will not go into reverse gear, baulks. Difference between in gear and not is so slight it often results in grating. Has anyone else noticed this.

  I've spotted a 2011 i40 with 82,000 miles. What are peoples thoughts on such a car given Hyundai's 5 year unlimited miles warranty? Currently it's averaged 28000 miles a year, we only do 6000, so at 6 years old that average would be down to 16000 a year. And the poor thing deserves a rest LOL.

  I've a set of old, unused, Ferodo disc pads for a late Estelle. Any idea where I can find a cross reference list to see what other cars they'll fit. They're no use to me but someone might find them useful. I thought I'd put them on freecycle.

  Just wondering if Backroomers have any ideas on the current scrap value of cars, what with the price of metals going up. Could we expect to get anything for the old Fiesta that we intend scrapping at the end of the month - or should we just be grateful that someone will get rid of it for us?

  Garage computer shows no codes and they do not know the cause. Bit like a petrol engine flatspot you used to get on old cars. Starts ok and no oither problems. Engine done 38k miles.

  Hi, I've recently bought a 5 year old focus from a main ford dealership. I've been driving it a week and have discovered 3 heating elements in the rear windscreen don't work and a little rattling noise from the front of the car when travelling on the motorway. do you think it reasonable to take it back for the dealer to remedy these issues??

  hello Does anyone know a rough price for an automatic fluid change on this car? it's an old Mitsibushi design of some sort. Just over 70,000 and never been changed aFaiK.  Seems to shift oK and is smooth. So for cheap motoring it makes sense to try and keep it going that bit longer...

  The audio system on my car (2 years old) is good apart from a poor tuner.  When the TA button is pressed, there are frequent drop-outs as well as traffic announcements.  Now, I get the drop-outs but no announcements.

  See HJ's road test. I have never been a Nissan fan though the old (Datsun) 240 and 260zs were good in their day, the 280 and 300 less so. The 350Z looks and sounds nice, I was following one in the ST the other day, lovely V6 wail as it revved. And the 370, from £28k, a lot of car for the money!

  I need two new front tyres (so I get one good spare too) and my current spare is outside as the tyre has a puncture and is also ten years old. I itend to replace it with a brand new one and have the wheel on the front of my car the problem is it has a bit of rust on it. Can I safely sand the wheel down and respray it?

  I have 2 hubcaps from my old car, Focus Ghea 1.8, can't remember if it had 16" wheels Hub cap measures 15.5" across outside face and 15" across wire bit on back 16" wheels fit ?? Part number 98AB-1130-MC

  The internal fan on the wifes focus has stopped working. There is nothing on 1 to 4 of the settings.. I have had this problem before on an old car and it was the heater resistor so I changed this today but it still does not work. Another other suggestions would be a great help....

  On an old car of mine no matter what I did the windscreen wipers used to make the most awful noise when it rained. Washing windscreen, using glass cleaner, replacing wiper blades, cleaning blades, whatever - still the same.

  Mrs gsb has decided it is time for another car. Considering either of above 1.4 petrol (not 16v) 5dr between 1-2 yrs old. Would expect to keep for long term, had current 405 for 10 years. Always been happy with the various pugs owned and leaning towards the 207.

  the rear heated screen on my wifes polo isn't working. i've checked the power supply right the way back to the contacts on the rear screen and it's o.k.is there any product or any way of fixing the heating element if that's the problem.the car is 3 years old. thanks.
