Paint and upholstery protection

I have been offered paint and upholstery protection for £300 by Citygate VW in Edgware Road.

Apparently, the ceramic paint protection is the same as used by Williams F1. The protection of the upholstery is with Scotchguard.

I would very much value your opinion on whether it is worth having these treatments. The car in question is a one year old VW Sharan (previous model).

If they guarantee if for 5 years okay. If they don't, why not? You can do the same job yourself with a spraycan of Scotchguard and a £20 bottle of Autoglym Extra Gloss Protection. Unless you feel sorry for the salesman, because on this £399 sale he stands to make about £300 commission.
