Between a Honda Accord And VW Passat 19 May 2008 (Forum)
I think I should be able to afford either of them. Ordinarily, the choice would have been the vw passat but with the well known fuel pump and engine problems of the passt and the fact that in the JD power of 2008; amongst the family cars, honda was 3rd while the passat came 16th because of poor reliability and poor interior quality and poor services from the dealers. -

Can I have my money fully refunded or part? -

I'm trying to find information on this comparing the 2 but to no avail. I myself drive a 1.4 petrol 206 with 75bhp so I'm trying to find out which one is best suited to myself...a young driver -
Rover 600 (1993 - 1999) - 1997 2.0 ti - hole in exhaust, now won't rev much 26 Mar 2008 (Forum)
Does the fact my exhaust have a hole in it affect teh engines rpm range, as in is there any type of sensors that link into exhaust emmissions to the engine management system? I would like some advice, before i take it into a garage for a hefty bill. Could it be the fuel filter, if so where is it located? Regards. {subject header made less vague} -
Petrol or Diesel? 26 Mar 2008 (Forum)
With the growing differential between petrol and diesel, is there any trusted formula that can decide which fuel (and running costs) will be cheaper in the long run? In my area, it is currently 8p a litre in favour of petrol. I was beginning to think about changing from petrol to diesel, but would like more hard information to make a decision. -
Green Agenda 14 Mar 2008 (Forum)
The government should be forcing the manufacturers by way of penalties to produce the cleanest engines. The oil companies cleaner fuels. But no, we are an easy, soft target. They should penalise these large multi national companies until they get their own house in order before coming after us. They are trying the same tactic with shoppers and plastic bags. -

SEAT Ibiza III (2002 - 2008) - DIY servicing 11 Feb 2008 (Forum)
Can't have taken more than 45 mins and that included 10 mins finding the correct key for the sump plug. I was expecting the oil and air filters to be easy, but wasn't sure of the fuel filter as have heard about them needing to be bled etc but i couldn't have been simpler. Two quick release fitting and your away. It started straight away after, no cranking or anything. Well done SEAT! -

Volkswagen Golf IV (1998 - 2004) - (98-04) 1.4 - starts, but cuts out straight away 23 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I have tried restarting several times and will not maintain revs, it just starts and dies on me. Its deffo not flooded the engine, but sounds almost as if it is being starved of fuel or something, like its choking. It has been very cold this morning so could that have anything to do with it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou LJJT -
Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - T reg 2.0 petrol - engine judder and hesitation 18 Dec 2007 (Forum)
It only seems to occur at lower revs and when the engine is hot and everything else with the car appears to work fine. The fuel economy is also bad, which i suspect may be linked to the problem. Im thinking its a fauly sensor or bad connection but dont know where to start looking! Help.. -
Peugeot 607 (2000 - ) - 2.2 diesel, High speed engine knock 15 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I have just driven a friends 607 because he was complaining of a engine knock starting at about 3000 rpm, before that speed all is quiet. I would gess that its a fuel injection problem but not being familier with common rail engines I cant be sure. I have heard most noises from years of IDI engines but this doesn't sound like anything I have heard before. It sounds like a mechanical noise at half engine speed, so I assume it is only affecting one cylinder, but it is only there when the throttle is open wide, when you back off it all goes quiet again. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 2003 TDCi - Loss of power, smoke and loss in mpg 28 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Only bother i've had is in the last couple of weeks i've had a drop in power when i acelerate andthen take my foot of the throttle , it's like sitting in a plane with turbulence, (this i take it is due to backpressure in the fuel line)there is smoke , but it's not a black "reek", more whitey/rusty/greyish. I've had it down my local garage, who thought it was the CAT. but says that fine and nothing coming up on the diagnostics conp. -
Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 02, 2.0 petrol EWL flashing & engine cutting out 15 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I have had the car for approx 4 months bought privately and have had no problems until now apart from high fuel consumption. Its doing around 250miles to the tank. Also, I was driving yesterday and the engine warning light came on and was flashing for a couple of mins. the power steering then cut out swiftly followed by the engine. -
Mercedes Benz 190/190E 1.8/2.0 W201 (1983 - 1993) - Yet another car... 14 Nov 2007 (Forum)
This time on a rather different proposition than normal: as I am "between jobs" but start one very soon, I have purchased a cheap but seemingly immaculate Mercedes 190 2.0. No fuel injection or any of that fancy nonsense, bog standard 2 litre, G reg model. Any tints and hips from ex-owners or knowledgeable types? First impressions are that they appear to be indestructible.... -
Mercedes Benz E-Class W210 (1995 - 2002) - E220 cdi 2002 Poor Starting especially when hot. 12 Nov 2007 (Forum)
Recently purchased a 220cdi estate my wife to use , It has been good with excellent fuel economy but cranks forever before it starts especially when hot. It broke down this week and as my wife is a nurse needs to be reliable. I have since purchased and fitted four new glow plugs but the old ones looked like new when removed.
