T reg 2.0 petrol - engine judder and hesitation - dippydodaa
I have a T reg 406 2.0 petrol estate (facelift model) which runs fine when cold but as the engine warms up to temperature the car has an intermittent judder or hesitation when driving. It almost feels like a missfire or momentary loss of power and seems to happen completely at random. It only seems to occur at lower revs and when the engine is hot and everything else with the car appears to work fine. The fuel economy is also bad, which i suspect may be linked to the problem. Im thinking its a fauly sensor or bad connection but dont know where to start looking! Help..

Your choice is either to try replacing likely parts at random; or getting a local garage to check the fault-codes and the readings from relevant engine sensors.

As it only appears when hot, things like the coolant temp sensor might be possible; but diagnosis of such faults is rarely straightforward.

some people have suggested changing the MAF sensor. is this likely to make any difference?

Possible; maybe a 20% chance - but it could be a lot of other parts too and a MAF will cost a lot more [forget the fakes on flea-bay] than getting your local garage to read the codes.
