  • You put yer right leg out 28 Jul 2005 (Forum)
Driving through France recently and every time a biker passed he put his right foot out as if to say merci for letting him past. Is this a true reading of this gesture? Is it peculiar to french bikers? Or are they avoiding DVT?
  • Honda Element 24 May 2005 (Forum)
Last nights Top Gear featured James May driving around in the new Honda Element and trying to prove the point that here was a Honda that could appeal to the younger end of the market(in terms of funkiness and styling). Do other Back Roomers agree and if so should Honda bring it over here?
  • Defender question 5 May 2005 (Forum)
Have looked at a 02 defender td5 with 25k on the clock, it looks fab and drives ok, but am worried about reliability especially gearboxes, have been told to walk away if anything about the gear change / clutch doesn't feel right. Is there anything else to look out for on these cars.
  • C-MAX 1.6 TDCI CVT 29 Apr 2005 (Forum)
I wonder where I could get hold of the one that just sold? -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive?
  • DSG clutch operation 19 Mar 2005 (Forum)
Can anyone explain to me how the clutch works on VW/Audi's DSG gearbox and whether leaving it in Drive whilst stationary does any harm? I have tried VW, Audi and Skoda web-sites but there seems a dearth of information on the system. Thanks in advance.
  • blue light? what's that all about then? 1 Dec 2004 (Forum)
Driving through Dagenham tonight, I saw a car zoom across the traffic lights. Underneath it appeared to have bright blue strip lighting. What's that all about? Looked like a mobile fly zapper! Is it a Dagenham/Essex thing?

  • Villeneuve back in F1! 22 Sep 2004 (Forum)
For all those that thought F1 was getting boring this year, JV should be driving for Renault in the final 3 races of this year then will be going to Sauber for 2005-6. Pity no one got Hakkinen back though, still, can't wait to see him battling it out again!
  • Speeding (mostly excl cameras) XXI 18 Sep 2004 (Forum)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/3630908.stm his insurance prices must be horrific, still he can afford it. Does he genuinely regret it or is it 'i'm rich i can drive as fast as i like'?
  • wasps/bees 9 Aug 2004 (Forum)
I have always driven fairly dark coloured cars but now I drive a bright red Getz and have noticed a fairly sharp increase in the number of bee/wasp visits into the open windows. Has anyone noticed this sort of thing or are the bees in Yorkshire just becoming more inquisitive?
  • Car Owners Manuals 30 May 2004 (Forum)
I think Craig Brown from the DT has bought a new car: http://tinyurl.com/3b6n8 (you will probably need to register) Any guesses what? i-think that i-can narrow it down to three possibilities even before i-drive his car.
  • Suzuki ignis sport 19 Apr 2004 (Forum)
I have just test driven one, not bad at all and now just under £8,000 with full specs. Tempting. Fun to drive but are they reliable ? Also where the hell has the 'weeks best deals' section gone ?
  • What's a fly-off handbrake? 31 Mar 2004 (Forum)
As on the new Aston DB9. Looks a gorgeous piece of kit and a terrific drive, BTW. And talking of gorgeous bits of kit, so's the new Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. But where's the UK numberplate going to go on that lovely front? And won't it look just 'orrible?
  • Illegally parked traffic wardens 7 Jan 2004 (Forum)
My council run wardens have a tendency to drive around looking for illegally parked cars to slap a ticket on - I suppose that this means that they can "do" more cars. However they more often than not park on single and double yellows to issue their tickets.
  • Feeling sick as hell 31 Dec 2003 (Forum)
After 14 years blemish free driving I\'ve finally managed to crash into a young lass (on daddy\'s insurance) that didn\'t have the sense to use indicators. Feeling like pink fluffy dice , cheer me up lads and lasses please.
  • Fog Lights - Bouquet for the Bill 22 Dec 2003 (Forum)
A colleague was pulled up and breathalysed last night for driving with fog lights. He was asked the inevitable question to which there is no acceptable answer - "do you know it's an offence to use foglights in these conditions?" Yes, there are more dangerous pastimes such as tailgating, but it's a start.
  • Beetles 16 Dec 2003 (Forum)
Whatever happened to all the left-hand drive Beetles that were on general sale in this country before the right-hand models rolled off the production line? Have most of them ended up being exported? and of those left in this country have they depreciated a lot more compared to the right-handed models.
