You need a 10mm spanner and perhaps needle nosed pliers to pull the electrical lead off the bulb. Best to check headlight alignment afterwards The Mk2b looks easier than the Mk2 - it uses rubber `caps` over the bulb insertion apertures and nothing needs to be undone. -
Ford Focus II (2004 - 2007) - 05 1.6 Very odd inside wear on all tyres 2 Jul 2009 (Forum)
The rest of the tire was excellent, atleast 5mil all over, with exception of the edge facing the middle of the car, which as i said was bald. This seemed more severe than just a alignment issue, so we agreed with the dealer to go no further in the deal until it had undergone a full geometry test. One thing we did note is that the rear suspention bars (i think thats what there called, the hinged bar that holds the wheel to the chassis) had been replaced. -
Vauxhall Zafira B (2005 - ) - 07 1.9 - wont drive in a straight line? 5 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Basically, if I let go of the steering wheel on a flat/stright road, the steering wheel instead of going to 12 oclock, its going to like 10/11 oclock and veering off to the right. Anyway - took it into see if its wheel alignment, and even though was slightly out which they did, no change. If I point the steering wheel straight, the car does drive in a straght line. Just done a 20minute drive on motorway and not done to any slope in the road. -
any suggestions please 10 Aug 2006 (Forum)
can anyone being really honest, say what car should i try next to use as a eliable taxi, ive had a vauxhall carlton in 1990 it got worn out, changed to the vauxhall omega - gave up with that as it had nearly all sensors replaced, two rebuilt engines, changed to a 1998 2.0 td mondeo, had never ever problems with that too, ie, fuel injectors, glow plugs, and bad shaking through the steering wheel, changed to a 2001 2.0 mondeo tddi , and have experienced more problems than ever, two diesel pumps costing 650.00 each. drop links replaced twice, drivers seat replaced, clutch that took 2 days to fit as the whole subframe had to come out, ongoing air con problems (which are still happening ) bad tyre wear even after paying out for the ford 4 wheel alignment, i could go on but dont want to bore you, i need a good, heavy working diesel, that doesnt need things replacing so frequently, many thanks claire -
Labelled Tyre Characteristics 30 Nov 2001 (Forum)
I have a particular interest in tyre wear characteristics at the moment as my 11 month old 10000 mile MB C 200K has knackered a set of rear tyres and badly worn a set of front tyres after all four wheels were found to be out of alignment at its first warranty demanded service. Helpfully, MB provide a printout with before adjustment values and after adjustment, together with MB tolerances! Interestingly one front wheel had a negative value and the other a positive one. -

Sick Alfa 156 2.0 TS Man 9 Apr 2002 (Forum)
Main problem was car vibration all the time, through the front of the car and instability at speed. Dealer agreed with problem and decided to 4 wheel align the car 4 times, no improvement. Ordered replacement front and rear shocks. 5. 24 months old fitted front and rear shocks. No improvement. 6. 26 months old another 4 wheel alignment and replaced failed rear bushes (one was hanging off apparently - which would explain the occasional knock at the rear). -
Ford Fiesta 1.2L Style from 2006 - £1115 service for old car :-( 17 Jan 2025 (Forum)
This year however, the cost sky rocketed to a whopping £1115 on account of the car needing a new starter motor, one new engine bracket, new suspension spring on near side, headlight beam correcting, 2 new tyres+wheel alignment, oil/filter change - and the MOT itself. The car has 125000 miles on the clock. Felt a bit deflated paying over a grand for a car that's currently valued around the £550 mark. Shall I try and sell it soon while it still has a long MOT (possibly to a newly passed driver), or wait 12 months then sc*** it to cut further losses, or with all that work done on it now - might it be good for another 2 years? -
Ford Mondeo - Ford Mondeo MK4 thumping sound from rear? 1 Jul 2019 (Forum)
It's just passed its MOT with no advisories so a little disappointed. I wanted the car to last a year lol. The car doesn't feel out of alignment and doesn't veer at all. We drove it back home 180 miles with no issues (apart from the noise at low speeds/braking). Do you think it's the tyres? Thanks in advance! -
Hyundai i30 2012 new shape. - Power steering 15 Nov 2018 (Forum)
The test was done around town and not on a motorway, so no problem would show up. The dealer seemed very helpful and I saw the car on the computer and having wheel alignment checked. So is this a downside on this model ? Brian. W. -
2007 MK4 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI QXBA - MK4 Mondeo 2.0 TDCI Timing belt tensioner adjustme 31 Mar 2018 (Forum)
I've read the instructions in the Haynes manual and the ones that came with the Gates timing belt kit. The tensioner has an arrow and a notch that are supposed to align to set the correct tension. I have followed the guides and adjusted it so that the arrow is in the centre of the notch, tightened to torque and then rotated the crank 4 times. When I rotate it the tensioner arrow moves about 1/2 inch past the notch adding tension. -
Renault Scenic - Grand Scenic Mk3 crash 20 Feb 2014 (Forum)
We have been reading quite a lot about the frames of cars now that once bent will not be repaired we are still awaiting to hear back about what is happening. The rear 2 seats inside the car will no longer go up as they have been moved aout of alignment and when moving there is a loud scraping sound coming from the rear wheels but we could not see anything touching them also the rear of the car has received quite extensive damage and looks like the floor has lifted at the very rear. -

Bent wheel ! 29 Jan 2010 (Forum)
I have had the FocuST for three months and nearly 7k miles now, I have noticed a slight wobble through the steering wheel at 75mph ish and a slight "pattering" at motorway speeds on a smooth surface. I got around to having the wheels balanced and a four wheel alignment done last week by a very well renown tyre fitter/wholesaler, at the same time the rear wheels were put on the front after which the "pattering" became more pronounced and clearly eminating from the NSF corner. -
BMW 7-Series E38 (1994 - 2001) - 00 2.8 What would cause a car to lean to one side 25 Jan 2010 (Forum)
The front offside could be sagging down i guess, but i'd expect the car to list down on that corner rather than the whole side, esp given rear shock is new. Other points maybe worth noting: had the car 3d laser aligned but the dealer couldn't get the camber in spec, as a result the car pulls to the left. Sent me off to replace a couple of ball joints (which i've done). I'm going to replace the front shocks anyway, but just wondering if there's anything else i should consider ordering up while im at GSF. -
Renault Scenic Dci belt problem 11 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Recently it suffered a thrown auxilliary alt/pwr steering/air-con drive belt. Another belt was fitted and tested with belt alignment checked out okay. However last week it has done exactly the same. The tensioner is doing its job, but we did notice that when new belt was fitted and tensioned, the belt oscillated between the air-con compressor and pulley - even when the belt has the correct 'give' and is tight between the other pulleys. -
New Mondeo tyre wear 9 Apr 2003 (Forum)
The tyres are Contisport all round and these have been on since about 12k - still plenty of tread on them all round. Got a new tyre fitted at a local dealer but I wasn't offered a tracking or alignment check (probably because it was 4PM on a Saturday) The fitter recomended getting the steering geometry checked at the next service. It was last serviced at the main dealer in January and isn't due for another 7000 miles so I rang the main dealer and they wanted £80 for a geometry check at their bodyshop. -
