  I am moving to Spain soon & want to buy a LHD car. I am working on the theory that a LHD will be cheaper here & i will get more as a trade in for my current car, a Volvo S40 2.0T, 1998. I want to get a decent LWB 4X4 for little as (im)possible.

  Michael Meacher, guardian of the environment and enemy of the motorcycle, was caught out by the Sunday Times. Journalists phoned his home to query his holiday trip to Spain, in view of the fact that his department is urging tourists to stay in the UK to support the countryside's economy in the wake of foot & mouth. Throughout the telephone conversation, he passed himself off as his constituency agent and denied knowledge of his trip to Spain.

  I have a motorbike that was first registered in the UK in 2003, In 2005 I moved to Spain and took the motorcycle with me, to comply with Spanish Law the motorbike was re-registered in Spain and given spanish plates, ie Import tax paid, V5 handed over to the spanish Gestoria, and now have all legal docs in Spanish.

  8000km (ex demo) should i buy it or not?? Do I "need" the 4x4 use, maybe (probably not, although roads in Spain are pink fluffy dice in some places). Quite fancy it as the drivers in Spain leave something to be desired and the 2 kids, well I quite like 'em and wouldn't want them to het hurt. So a 2 tonne 4x4 is appealing.

  Beware that summer is a great season for collecting fines from errant motorists, and Spain and the UK not only allow licence exchanges (recently reintroduced) but also exchange driver data so that fines can be pursued. There are fixed and mobile cameras aplenty, and even traffic police helicopters.

  So, I now have a car with NO logbook, NO registration in Spain, permanently exported from the UK - thus doesnt belong anywhere. I want to register the car here in Spain and put it on Spanish plates but of course need to be the legal owner of the car and have documents to prove it.

  Just returned from India where they have flooded the country with Fiat Palio's. (Fiat's third world car). I believe that they are sold in Spain and other South European countries. Anyone knows how good they are? They seem to be really good value but some people say the interior plastics are appalling ?
