  There are no warning lights on the car and it drives 100% fine but if the Glow Plug Module isn't working, DPF regenerations won't take place - I haven't noticed a DPF regen for a few weeks. Is there anyway of testing if the DPF regeneration is still working? Even if I take the car on a long run, it may not regen the DPF as it's not as though it happens on every long run.

  City driving  short distances got me the dpf light again , when I decided to replace the dpf with a new one ; I did not do it with the dealer due to high price but with an authorized workshop ; It has been removed the right part ( the DPF by the mechanics) but following my pal instructions ( he was working 7 years with Honda as car mechanic ) I told them , "this is not the dpf " - I meant the part of the exhaust that has two small pipes attached - and also " I want you to remove for me this part because that´s the DPF (??)

  My 2009 Ford Focus 1.6 TDCI has 92,000 miles. I have just had the DPF replaced by Ford. I'm wondering are any products suitable for adding to the fuel tank to increase the life span of the new DPF ? I've seen the cleaner additives but I'm unsure if they're any good ?

  Hi Everyone,   According to Wikipedia , the model coming with the engine does not have a DPF, it's only I4 DOHC 16V common rail turbo. To all the other diesel engines, DPF is written, here it isn't mentioned.   Someone only forgot to add it, or this particular model with this engine really does not have a DPF?

  In other words has anyone with for example a 2011 or 2012 car suffered the problem. Linked with this is the question of whether DPF technology is advancing and causing the problem to become less. Given the widely publicised problems with DPFs I would certainly be reluctant to buy a second hand diesel fitted with a DPF but there is always the doubt in the mind about whether the problem is that widespread or whether it is a relatively small percentage of owners causing the issue to be blown out of proportion.

  I don't specifically want to buy a diesel but most of the ex fleet cars at auction are diesels so I limit my choice if I avoid them. If I buy a deisel I wish to aviod the hassel of a dpf. I shall be looking for a focus or astra size car. I am told that the 110bhp focus has a dpf but not the 90bhp but I don't know up to what date that changed. Can anyone tell me of any other  diesel of around that age and size which does not have a dpf or one where if you have problems with it you can comfortably throw the dpf away and still pass an MOT.

  It is now beginning to have a rumbling gearbox, but it has always had a tendency to have a stutter on the power delivery, and tends to lose power slightly intermittently (as if the brakes have been lightly applied), and fuel consumption has gradually dropped. I was thinking of removing the DPF and turning off the pressure sensors etc. Anyone any experience of this, and the supply of a DPF "can" so I can refit the original if necessary. Would it still pass the MOT with the DPF removed?

  If you are thinking of buying a Mondeo diesel for its fuel economy, think again. I have just bought a new 2.0 TDCi Titanium X Estate fitted with a DPF, which will not achieve more than upper 30's mpg. The DPF has had an effect on fuel economy, so if you want a Mondeo IV diesel to get more MPG, at the moment it is best to go for the 1.8 TDCi which does not have the DPF as standard.

  I drive mainly urban for about 40 min, the max. speed is 30mph and the distance 10 miles (one way). With this particular type of daily commute will I have trouble with the DPF? In your reply, please include the make and model, the rev, duration and speed the manufacturer recommends that you drive for the DPF to regenerate. Thanx

  The DPF warning light is on indicating the fluid requires topping up at 140000mls. Main dealer said I require new DPF for just £800 plus. If I get them to top up the fluid and extinquish the warning light, can I then get the filter cleaned and would it work?

  The 75000 mile service for the DPF equipped Focus C-Max diesels  specifies renewal of the DPF. Does anyone know how much this costs, be it for a new or reconditioned unit? i.e. I'm trying to figure out the some of the cost of the 75000 mile service, which seems to be a biggie.
