  • Ford Mondeo Ghia x 2.0L petrol - Clutch conversion (DMF to Solid) 28 Jan 2012 (Forum)
Have had a quote of £620.00 for complete change using DMF which I thought was very good after pricing up all the parts seperately. Have just got the car cheap 75 000 on the clock. Any info or advice much appeciated.

  • captiva - DPF, DMF,Oil warning just out of warranty 8 Aug 2012 (Forum)

  • Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 2003 2.0HDi DMF problem? 8 Sep 2008 (Forum)
My 53 plate 2.0 HDi 110 (98000 miles) has developed the squeak at engine stop, and when crawling along in first or second gear. The noise seems to be coming from the gearbox end, and from reading other forums I think it's the DMF. Is this an urgent problem or is it safe to drive until the symptoms get worse? Many thanks, Richard

  • Citroen Relay 2.2 hdi - New clutch & DMF required - where? which? 12 Oct 2016 (Forum)
Hi guys, Im looking for a replacement clutch, dmf and bearing kit and have been told to only buy LUK, Valeo or Sachs. But I've heard there are cheap crap out there boxed as LUK when they are not. So how do I know if I'm getting the genuine product?
  • Ford Galaxy (2006 - ) - 07 2.0 Another DMF issue?? 5 Feb 2010 (Forum)
The main dealer has seen the car for a road test and confirms the clutch is slipping and requires further investigation. Does this sound like an issue with the DMF?? I'm not aware of any other DMF related symptoms such as starting problems or hearing any clunks whilst changing gear etc.. I'm also confident it's not me burning the clutch out prematurely. My previous cars have all done 75,000miles plus each under my two feet and none have experienced clutch issues.
  • Are there any modern diesels without a DMF? 23 Sep 2009 (Forum)
Thinking about changing the car (again) and I've got a preference for diesel (based on driving characteristics and economy) but seriously concerned about DMF problems that seem common place. Does anyone know of any modern, mainstream diesels (Ford, Vauxhall etc) that don't have a DMF fitted? For instance, I heard the Ford 1.8 TDCi doesn't have one. Anyone know if that's true?

  • Dual Mass Flywheels 3 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Posted by RichardW ...failure of the DMF will ruin the gearbox and half of the front of the car... Does anyone have any pics of the aftermath of a failed DMF? Does the thing literally explode then? (I guess that's the correct term)
  • Vauxhall Insignia - Clutch and DMF replacement 19 Jun 2015 (Forum)
My clutch was slipping last year when the car was still under warranty, I put it into a vauxhall garage and they could find no fault. I put it in again this year 6 months after warranty expired and I now need a new clutch and DMF. Vauxhall will only pay for part of this as they say it is out of warranty even though I identified the problem before the warranty expired. I'm going to be nearly £600 poorer need some advice on whether I have a case for full payment by vauxhall.
  • Zafira B 1.7 CDTI - New DMF Faulty? Or has Mechanic damaged/misfitted 17 Dec 2020 (Forum)
DMF was listed as new and fully working but "some corrosion to non contact surface", so presumably old stock. Arrived with no visible corrosion (although incidentally there was a little on clutch which wasn't in description).
  • Ford Focus (1998 - 2004) - 04 1.8 TDCI (100) Dual Mass Flywheel (again) 19 Dec 2010 (Forum)
Would it be worth approaching the dealer to see if there is any goodwill towards the recent replacement (I have their knackered DMF and a large bill as evidence) or is it more likely to be a waste of my lunch hour? I intend to keep this car for at least another 18 months. Any suggestions on how to ensure this DMF lasts longer than the last one?
  • Diesel gear change with DMF in mind 7 May 2009 (Forum)
Usually takes me down to 1.5k for the next gear. This got me thinking, people drive like this all the time, low revs and after reading about DMF failure and someone suggesting lugging from low down puts big stress on the DMF, does it? Is 1.5k really too low to drive like that all the time? The DMF thing bothers me a little as mine is trying to dampen 400nm so i dont want to lug it under stress if i'm on an economy run.
  • Hyundai Santa Fe (2010) Manual - Clutch Smell & DMF 14 Jan 2011 (Forum)
It appears I'm not alone amongst Hyundai owners, and I'm in the process of returning the car to the dealer for a full refund. However, it looks as though this clutch /DMF problem is widespread in modern diesels. If I had selected an automatic version would I have still encountered this problem, or possibly another stack of issues please?

  • Saab 93 - Dual Mass Flywheel 1 May 2010 (Forum)
I have a question about the DMF on my wife's Saab 93 convertible TiD150. It went in for its annual service and first MOT the other day. No problems really but the dealer said when I went to collect it there was some vibration in the DMF on start up and they'd like to replace it under warranty.
