Replaced the Bandit 30 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Test rode it for 45 miles yesterday morning and loved the riding position, the engine, the noise, the ride quality, the screen, everything. It's even got a fuel gauge. Luxury. Despite the Bandit needing tyres, chain & sprockets and brakes, got a reasonable trade-in. Pick it up August 8th. Chuffed to bits. Texted no. 2 daughter this evening "I did buy a motor bike today. -
05 Octavia what mods 2 Jul 2006 (Forum)
Needless to say I am now the owner of this nearly new vehicle, on the test drive I couldnt figure out how to work the vehicles mpg computer. Anyway the question now is what technical mods would be worth while if any, for fuel/drive performance, and has anybody had any known problems with theirs. P.S. While we were in the showroom we looked inside an 18grand Golf and what do you know the same dash as the octavia......... -
Bio diesel in Manchester 5 Jun 2006 (Forum)
It's a small old site and the nearest station is a Shell with regular diesel at 94.9ppl I think, which is surprisingly low for recent times in our area. It's been up to 98.9ppl in the last month. I filled up the Trajet today and noticed that the fuel is a murky brown colour and foams up more. I'll keep you informed. The saving of 6ppl makes the lack of Pluspoints or ability to use Amex worth it; especially if the ecomony improves, even by 2%. -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive? -
Bare Wire? Vectra 98 2.0 Ecotech 3 Jun 2006 (Forum)
Busy stripping back wiring to Air Flow Meter (ongoing fuel problem) 4 wires seem ok but on stripping further back I'v found an extra wire hidden inside the plastic sleeve, its totaly bare and does not look factory finished. What could it be? The car had a MAFM problem (low voltage-9 instead of aprox. 17) so it was replaced with a brand new one,but the problem remained.Anyone come across this before? -
sprinter power issues 30 May 2006 (Forum)
have been having problems for the last couple of months that it has been really down on power. had a valve changed on the high pressure fuel pump a few weeks ago after it stopped comletely. but that did not make it worse. just seems like there are about 30 horses missing. slow up hills and on acceleration but ok when up to speed. not in get you home mode as will rev all the way to 400orpm just takes a while head gasket went today. does anyone know if the power problems were likely to be caused by a failing head gasket or is there ay thing else commen that causes it. -

Mercedes E320CDi - losing power 11 Apr 2006 (Forum)
Been driving superbly since bought and been up and down the M1/M6 twice in one week. Last night started losing power and now will drive at very low speed only. Using main station fuel (Esso). I'm 200 miles away, so this is the only description I can give. The car is waiting for a diagnotic test, but anyone any ideas? -- Espada III - well if you have a family and need a Lamborghini, what else do you drive? -
406 hdi - cold start up problems 7 Apr 2006 (Forum)
i have a 2001 406 110 hdi.I was having cold start problems so fitted new glow plugs, that cured it for a few weeks then it started playing up again, sounds like running on 3 cylinders until you blip the throttle then it picks up and runs on four. Now when i pull up at junction etc it starts surging but picks up when you pull away.Car seems to have all its power.I have changed the fuel filter last week but hasn't made any difference,I have also tested the glow plugs and they were fine.Any ideas, hope its not something nasty(big bills) -
Luggage space in 7 seater MPV 3 Apr 2006 (Forum)
which is a similar cost to hire as two smaller cars, but we each have less driving to do, smaller fuel costs etc, but not sure how much luggage space will be affected by using the rearmost seat. Any BR people have experience with long trips in this type of vehicle? cheers StarGazer -

End of the road for Diesels ? 26 Feb 2006 (Forum)
Having read the post over in Technical by Editor and the problem he is having with his 406 Hdi 2.2 particulate filter, I have become very dismayed that the only way forward to clean up diesels is to add Eloys to the fuel. This concerns me becuase from what I have read, it seems that the only way to refill this is by going to a main dealer and is costing a considerable amount, also my understanding is that some of the newer diesels are not as economical and questions are being asked about the longevity of common rail. -
Thinking of selling up. But what next? 22 Feb 2006 (Forum)
This is after driving at 60 when on the A3, not revving hard, and giving it a good 'blow out' every now and then. The quoted 650 miles I was achieving at one point, I was happy with. The fuel consumption leads me onto my next point... The whole common rail '££££' scenario has left me feeling a little cautious. But what next? The 306 was to all intents my 'perfect' car. I'm a little out of ideas, so just throw some my way. -
306 HDI 1999 Rear wiper stopped? 29 Jan 2006 (Forum)
Hello, Have recently had a spell of bad luck with my 306 as has been to three garages to eventually find a relatively simple fault - coroded wire linking ignition to fuel pump. Rear wiper has ceased working since at garage. To avoid putting car into garage again might it be a problem I could fix myself? I'm no car expert but am able to try simple stuff (eg fitting new wiper motor) The correct fuse in in right place according to maual and is not damaged or blown as far as can see. -
Galaxy Trouble 29 Jan 2006 (Forum)
When the key is turned it does not activate the starter, seems to flick the interior lights on an off, reset the radio, make the fuel gauge go nuts and sets of various warning bleeps. This is accompanied by a loud clicking noise which sounds like a combination of the ignition turning on and off and the gearbox isolation switch for the auto box. -
Peugeot 306 1.4 electrics gone crazy! 8 Jan 2006 (Forum)
My daughter's 1997/8 1.4 306's electrics are playing up again. The erractic idle was the coil pack as Screwloose suggested. The garage also replaced the fuel pump relay and idle control valve as that was apparently jammed. Last night the radio kept on cutting out, then the headlights flickered, instruments went from 0 to full scale but the engine kept on running fine. -

Audi A4 supplimentary heater 29 Nov 2005 (Forum)
I have a 2004 A4 Turbo Diesel. In the instructions manual it talks of an auxiliary heater which is an option and burns fuel to provide heat at low temperatures before the engine is warm. The manual also stated that ALL turbo diesel models have a 'supplimentary heater' which provides warmth independant of the engine temp, when the coolant temp is below a certain level. -
Accord Diesel Consumption - Update 11 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Following the correspondence regarding fuel consumption of the Accord diesel I'm happy to report that there has been a huge improvement. The car has now covered just over 11,000 miles and achieved 50 mpg on a journey from Rouen, where I filled up, to Calais, which was all autoroute except for the trudge through Rouen and the outskirts. -
Rover 600 starting problems 3 Oct 2005 (Forum)
I had battery replaced and my garage replaced 3 of the 4 glow plugs. He said the fourth glow plug was behind fuel pump and would take longer. everything seemed ok put as the weather has got colder it is taking longer to start. Does the fourth glow plug make that much difference ? AND Is it a job that i could possibly do myself ?
