Ford Mondeo or VW Passat 24 Jul 2007 (Forum)
Mum and Dad are going to be buying a caravan and, seeing as their Rover won't have the torque required for proper caravan-towing, they are looking to buy either a Ford Mondeo or a VW Passat. They have around £3,000 to spend on a second-hand car and I have a few questions 1. Considering the cash involved, which would be the better buy? -

ANPR. Mobile and the future ? 8 Apr 2005 (Forum)
The operators cruise the streets to identify cars whose owner has an outstanding fine, even a library ticket. Once a target is identified they strip the plate off, clamp it and it is then towed away. Surprise, surprise, there are larger queues to pay outstanding fines. Is this likely to happen here? -

Cracked Transmission Cooler PK Auto 21 May 2019 (Forum)
Has anyone had a cracked Auto Oil Cooler on their Ranger (2010 75k)? This happened to me while towing (close to 2.5t) through Central Qld recently. The RACQ man was on to it straight away, and said it is not uncommon on PKs. The cooler was sent out to have the crack repaired by welding and seems to be holding up OK. -

Difference between 2" and 50mm Towballs 1 Aug 2017 (Forum)
A comment by SL on the motorhome towing thread reminded me of something that has puzzled me for a while. Is the only difference between a 2" ball and a 50mm one 0.8mm? And if so, why is this enough for the two to be incompatible? I don't doubt that they are, I've been told in no uncertain terms never to mix them up, but surely the latch on the trailer hitch would accomodate some play, to allow for wear in the ball etc. -
