Battery conditioner or plain old battery charger? 9 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I've recently bought a classic car and don't plan to take it on winter roads. I've been looking at one of those battery conditioner/chargers (CTEK make a range) and a search here reveals nothing. Any experience/advice about these things? -

Old VW Polo intermittant power loss 24 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Hi all, I\'m having trouble with my old (\'H\' reg) VW Polo 1.3L CL. Several signs of age have manifested recently (in the last year), but the major pain is an intermittant loss of power which I\'ve noticed when motorway driving (although it could be happening at other times), which is reducing the car\'s top speed to about 50 mph even with the accelerator floored. -
Qulity 12v tyre pump recommendation? 23 Jan 2016 (Forum)
I like to keep a pump in the car as it is useful for checking pressure in ones own driveway and also for a get you home top up with a minor leak. My old pump is 15 years old and will barely do 30 psi for my bicycle! Can anyone recommend a quality make that will do modern tyres and maybe even 80psi on a bike? -
Mercedes C200 Kompressor - Premature or Known Rust? 18 Jun 2014 (Forum)
An old gent I know replaced his E190 with a newer C200. Admittedly around 10 years old now. But after 18 months of his ownership the formerly very clean car seems to be rusting around the edge of every body panel. -
Suzukis 17 Apr 2011 (Forum)
The Nissan dealer where I bought my Almera from also sells Suzukis and there are quite a few new shape Swifts and SX4s locally. ( I'm not keen on the current Nissan range at all). I did drive an old shape Swift as a courtesy car eight years ago and it was horrible, but seemingly the new models are light years ahead of the old Swift and the SX4 looks good. -
Lotus Carlton 4 Sep 2008 (Forum)
http://tinyurl.com/5sffjc Go on, you know you want to!!!! Seriously, £20k for a 17 year old car, assuming they do get this price, what was the price of these brand new? My dad had a 2.0GLi version (in the days when that "i" was important) and I remember driving it as a raw 17 year old, newly passed my test, and twice spinning it 180 degrees due to the rwd power. -

"Payback" Mileage for secondhand Diesel 22 Nov 2006 (Forum)
If you are buying a new car, I remember people used to quote an annual mileage figure of about 15,000 needed before it made economic sense, taking into account the extra cost, and extra servicing. If one were to be buying a 3 or 4 year old car, spending eg.£ 6-7000 , does anyone know if the "payback" mileage is the sae, or is it less or more, given that the car is cheaper to buy , but then again, the steepest portion of the depreciation curve is over....... -
Volvo 440 1.6iLe (petrol) - What kind of AntiFreeze to use on old Volvo 440? 21 Aug 2011 (Forum)
The OAT antifreeze lasts for much longer and is a better bet from a reduced maintenance perspective. My question is would it be OK to use the newer coolant in an older car? I would obviously thoroughly flush out the old coolant and gunge using a hose. Are there any risks in using the OAT coolant with this older engine which has a cast iron block and alloy cylinder head? -
Nissan X-Trail (2007 - ) - J D power 2009 xtrail 14 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Having owned the old model, and now the new, i think i know the down falls of both, although i only have 3k on my latest. On the old car i had a new intercooler fitted due to an oil leak, also the sump plug leaked after a service. -

does an economical 4x4 exist? 16 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Now swinging back to the idea that we may have to get a 4x4, for reasons of ground clearance on our lanes, towing ease, and the fact that 4 kids(3 legally needing car seats - however much they insist they are too old for them) and dog just dont fit in anything else. We are probably looking at buying something at least 5 years old,it must have 7 seats and it will be sole family car. -

Bangers - an alternative view 10 Oct 2003 (Forum)
Japan applies such stringent tests on cars that it is not viable to keep them when they are more than 4 or 5 years old. Which is why many finish up scrapped or, sadly, exported to Britain. Should we not be trying to follow Japan's example? -
Suzuki Vitara - Replacement bulbs cost 12 Aug 2025 (Forum)
I need some help with my 3-year-old car, which is still under warranty. The daytime running light on the left side has packed in, and the LED headlight on the right side isn’t working either. I thought these were just easy bulbs to swap out like in my old cars, but I was told to ring the dealer.
