Volvo S80 Battery 1 Jun 2007 (Forum)
The car has had the same battery as the one that it came with when it was new so the battery is also about 7 years and has finally run out. It won't take charge anymore, I have kept it on the charger all night. So I have gone to Halfords to look for a similar one and its going for £84.00. Does anyone know where i can get it cheaper. -
V.W Sharan 1.9 turbo diesel. Overheating 28 May 2007 (Forum)
Our VW. Sharan runs fine, but when travelling on a motorway at speed the temperature gauge goes up towards the red, I have changed the thermostat but it is still the same. The fans cut in as they should, but this does"t make any differance. -
Peugoet 406 Diesel 2 May 2007 (Forum)
My mate has a Peugeot 406 Diesel 2 litre HDI..It ran Ok then suddenly wouldn't rev beyond 3000rpm..It then started to run "lumpy " and now refuses to start..A local mechanic has changed a sensor ( either co or co2 not sure which )..cambelt and timing have been checked and are OK..The pressure has been tested in the common rail and its OK..he did manage to get it started with a tow but soon after starting the engine just died. -
dipstick not replaced 26 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Usually a good garage and not too worried - these things happen. 2 questions - why is dipstick removed for MOT (could just have been checking oil anyway) and does running car without dipstick cause problems other than a small amount of oil loss (it only did about 50 miles before I checked)? Thanks in advance -
Logbook when buying from a dealer 12 Mar 2007 (Forum)
What happens with the V5 when buying a used car from a dealer? My tax is due to run out at the end of this month, and having had the car for just over 2 weeks, I still haven't had the V5 back from the DVLA. Looking at their site, it implies that I should have signed part of the V5 myself before the dealer sent it off to the DVLA - and I certainly haven't. -
Consumers want greener cars 5 Feb 2007 (Forum)
The link below is an almost interesting review on CO2 emmissions from cars and what consumers apparently want - well yes I want a car limited to 155mph and runs on water but I ain't going to get it. The interesting bit for me is the graph towards the bottom that shows increase in weight performance & capacity with a subsequent reduction in CO2. You do have to ask what other ndustry can demonstrate improvements like this - but it is the motorist & manufacturers that continue to get hit. -
Renault Trip computer 28 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Unlike Jermy Klaxon and the late lamented Adam, i'm not keen on running on fumes, so last night on the way home I was not happy when the range on the trip computer dropped from 62 miles to zero in the space of less than a mile. Has anybody else experienced this - the car is a Megane 1.5 dci. -
correct name of pipe/hose - Mk2 Golf 27 Dec 2006 (Forum)
Merry xmas one and all, its that Golf Mk 2 diesel again. There is a rubberpipe/hose that runs from a nipple under the carb ( do Diesels have a carb ?) to a nipple on the non injector side of the cylinder, its leaking fuel and corroded. does any one know the correct name for this bit, and more importantly where I can buy piece of it about half a metere long, its not reinforced by the way, and its just a push fit, its quite a small bore. -
12 Points on Licence 23 Nov 2006 (Forum)
Gran Canaria use the Euro but are not in the EU and they have decided that all licences will be issued with 12 points on them and they are removed for any traffic offenses until you either hit Zero and you are banned ( normal totting up rules ) OR if you have 6 removed for one offense then you are banned for 6 months. This is already up and running, what's that all about then ?? Regards Peter -
subaru advice please 14 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I have already spent a lot of time researching and reading comments from like minded people on here. I am willing to accept relatively low fuel consumption and high(er) running costs. Is there anything I might not be aware of? Thanks in advance. -

Mondeo Mk3 - Thermostat or Gauge Sender? 26 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I had gone about 20 miles yesterday before it was on the normal mark. Checked top hose after short run today and it was warm. Also, after a short stop when I start the engine again, it registers normal again. So any experience as to what is the most likely cause? Thanks, Y. -
mercedes sprinter overheating 9 Oct 2006 (Forum)
Got lots of air coming up. Within 4 miles the van starts to overheat. With the radiator cap off and engine running nothing seems to happen. I thought I would have seen the water moving. If I feel the pipe I can't feel any water flowing. The fan is working ok, and there is no water in the oil. Can anyone help? -
Pug 306 cooling fans 6 Sep 2006 (Forum)
Morning guys I have a problem on a 2001 Pug 306, can someone tell me how easy is it to test the fans without pulling the grills or rad off, i have heard there could be some way of tricking the car it is in "limp home mode" which should run both fans, anyone tell me if this is true and if so where is this cable plug located. I think the off side fan is dead but i don't want to rip it apart without good cause Cheers for looking Dai -
Supermarket vs big name fuel. 27 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Years ago I had a crappy 1.1 Escort which would pink at the slighest excuse as I attempted to wring every last one of its 60BHP out it. With that noticed that big name fuel seemed to make it run better. -
Panel lights on Volvo 240 24 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hi, I hope someone can advise. I have an elderly Volvo 240 estate ( ours since new!) 160000 miles but still runs fine, getting a bit tatty, but we still love it. Only problem is the bulbs on the instruments have failed. Not the fuse, checked that. Handbook just says "Difficult to replace, get the dealer to do it" Is it a job I could do myself, as I can't see an obvious route to the back of the intruments? -

Yaris rear wiper 13 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Both a branch of a national chain, and local 'corner shop' motor factor tell me it's a dealer only supply. The problem is the local Toyota dealer - we had a long running dispute with them, and I'm reluctant to let them have a penny of my money. Does anyone know of a supplier for this item? A quick Google search picks up every type of blade apart from the one I want! -
Getting the best mpg? 7 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Car has done nearly 6000 miles from new. Can't better than 37mpg round town. In addition, can't better than 55 on a run sticking to the 70 mph on a motorway (where I use cruise control) Aircon is usually on. Are my expectations too high?
