  Starting from warm doesn't produce the smoke. I recently had a problem with black smoke and some blue smoke but added a fuel additive which solved the problem. I've been told that this cold starting smoke may be due to faulty valve seals. The mileage is around 96K. Any help would be great. Thanks.

  Also there is a beeping sound when I turn the key with messages about airbag fault, immobiliser and low fuel (although it has half a tank). I tried to jump it but no luck. I've heard various opinions that it could be a completely dead battery, the immobiliser or the starter motor. I don't know if its relevant but there was a very heavy downpour at the time.

  The latest prob is my glow plug started flashing and i lost engine power. Now it cuts out whilst im driving without any warning. Iv had a new fuel filter fitted and the egr cleaned. Didnt work so now had new injectors still mo change,the garage put it on comp and code said injector pump module failure. Im bit worried if i spend out for this and the problem is still their.

  Hello! Would anyone have any info or ideas concerning which of the above two Shell diesel fuels would actually produce the least (lowest) emmissions in the context of a MOT emmissions test?   I rang up the technical dept of the Shell customer care 0800 line twice and both times they told me that V-Power and Fuelsave produce exactly the same (low) levels of emmissions.

  The problem is my mpg seems to low, the car has had the timing belt & water pump done-egr replaced with a new one-lower boost hoses replaced- liqi Molly diesel purge as well as using it in full tank of fuel. I've done mixed driving 50% motorway A roads and around locally, full tank done just over 400 miles and I'm not driving crazy :-( The car has done 138k with two previous owners, should I get a remap to see if it helps with the mpg etc ?

  Should I use a flushing additive before draining and if so, which one? Thinking of using Millers XFE diesel 10/40 oil. Also when should the fuel filter and air filter be replaced? Many thanks, Martin

    Am I supposed to remember to turn to middle position every time if I want to run on sides not heads all day so as to save fuel and the planet ? Not very green is it. Or have I got it all wrong. Thanks

  Went to start this morning and the problems started. Started fine but had a loud noise coming from the back seat then it cut out. Changed fuel pump and engine ticked over fine but any pressure on the accelerator it just cuts out. Now I'm lost. Checked the injector breather valve and let it run for about 20 mins. Idleing fine but the same problem.

  I wonder if its the relay unit . its been on computer check 4 times showing no problems with codes.  could it be the fuel pump relay ?, i bought one from my local volks  shop it has a number 103 on it but tried it , it was the wrong one different number so taking back to shop to change it. hpoing you can help, many thanks kawa

    Had it towed and diagnostic done came up with a load of fault codes but the mechanics cant work out what is wrong?  Can anyone help. We have made all the regualr cheques, fuel, batter, plugs etc etc.  Any ideas we are in Ethiopia and need this car to work! Thanks

  I replaced the spark plugs and coil because the plugs were due and I had a spare coil handy - no help. I've used more than two tanks off fuel and the problem is slowly getting worse.  At first it was just a barely noticable bump but now it will sometimes go RRRRrRRRRrrRRRRrRRRRRRR_RRRRRRRRRRR ;) and sometimes will even stall at idle.

  Can anyone throw me a few pointers? Recently got a cheap P reg Astra 1.6 with the 8v engine. Drives lovely, no smoke, not bad on fuel, but one thing it does when you stop and it idles is shake and make almost a chugging noise. If you go round the back it sounds quite blowy and the chugging is much more noticable. Again, if you open the bonnet you can see the engine wobble much more than normal as it chugs, and like I say the car shakes as well.

  The symtoms are very similar to the failure of an injector last year, but the garage says that's not the issue. I use manly top grade fuel, and have put a bottle of Wynns injector cleaner into a half full tank with no discernable improvement. Thanks.   Hassall

  hi,2003 peugeot expert 2.0 hdi starts fine in cold mornings once warm will not start/seems to fire but wont start although will start with a very short tow i had a diagnostic check and code 1108 was present?? checked in tank fuel pump changed rail sensor and high pressure pump sensor once started van operates perfectly as it should until its switched off will run all day?? could this be either high pressure pump or starter motor?

  And it cuts out at least once throughout that trip both to and from work..I have recently put it in to the garage to be looked at and had the follwing things done and tested but still with no joy. Change of oil and rocket cover all cleaned New plugs Air and Fuel Filter Coolent Temp sensor The other thing is is that it is bringing a fault code of P1467 up which it doesnt say what that is? Any advice would be great.   Thanks

  Hi, Recently, I've noticed the needles on ALL the gauges on the car's dashboard go to the 'extremities' [i.e. 180mph or whatever] before quickly settling back down to the normal positions [i.e. half-full on the fuel gauge, 0mph etc] whenever I start the car. This has been happening over the last week or two and about 50% of the time when I start the engine. It doesn't seem to matter if the engine is warm or not.
