L200 2.5TDI type K74 engine 4D56
About to give the pickup a ?Lubrication Service?. The owners? manual states that the sump holds 5.3 ltrs, filter 0.8 ltrs and cooler 0.4 ltrs. How do I empty the oil cooler? Past services seem to have been carried out yearly instead of every 4500mls/6 months as specified in the book. Should I use a flushing additive before draining and if so, which one? Thinking of using Millers XFE diesel 10/40 oil. Also when should the fuel filter and air filter be replaced?
Many thanks,
Martin

Unless there's a dedicated drain plug on the cooler, leave the oil in there, and accept that you can't easily change the oil in there. People who turn the engine over to pump out the cooler probably do more harm than good by emptying the high pressure oil galleries which take time (and unlubricated engine revolutions) to refill.
If you are following the manufacturer's servicing guidelines and using good quality oil, there's no need to sully your engine with flushing agents.
The fuel and air filters should be replaced as per the manufacturer's guidelines.
