What is a "motoring emergency"? 29 Mar 2007 (Forum)
So, the question is, what exactly is a "motoring emergency". Does this policy provide cover for me to drive my grandma around in her own car? I'm actually insured on the policy as a named driver, but it may be cheaper to remove me if I'm only going to drive the car with my grandma in it. There's nothing specific named in the policy booklet, it simply says that the insurance policy rights transfer to me when I'm behind the wheel, and that the driver must have a full driving license. -
Golf mk2 misfire 3 Jan 2006 (Forum)
at cold it revs up fine on choke , after 10 seconds it will missfire to the point that im needed the accelerator to keep it running, after approx 40 seconds i can let it idle its self and the misfire goes. now if i drive it straight to work, after 5-10mins of steady driving it starts to miss again and the only way to clear it is pull up and idle. the problem does not occur if i fully let the car warm up idling and then drive it. -
Driving to Stirling from north of Perth 31 Oct 2005 (Forum)
It's a complete a pain in the ass, with queues to leave the motorway and queues to rejoin it. The diversion probably makes you drive at least 8 miles needlessly. Better just heading through Perth to the A9. It's exactly what they don't want you to do and it's quicker and cheaper. -
Driving Down Through France 11 Oct 2005 (Forum)
Next Summer we are planning to drive down to the Perpignon area from the channel ports. We know to avoid the first week in August as all of France is on the road then. If was looking for advice on the following points :- 1) I estimate it is about 750-800 miles, is this feasible to do in 2 days, given that I have to think of my wife and 9 year old ? -

Vectra on the drive 3 May 2005 (Forum)
Most of all, I miss the noise and torque of the V6. Overall I'm happy with it and I actually think it's nicer to drive than my work 3.2. Doesn't bother me that it's got a Vauxhall badge. And I'm determined to keep it longer than my usual two years.......cough!! -

Regulations for Driving on the Continent 19 Apr 2004 (Forum)
The didn't mention the usual stuff about red triangles, spare bulbs and first aid kits but the following might be of interest. 1. In Spain, if you need spectacles for driving, you must carry a spare pair with you. 2. In France it is illegal to contact the emergency services by mobile phone - only the roadside emergency phones will do. I don't think this would stop mt ringing 112 or whatever for an ambulance or from a crash scene. -

Small reliable auto? 30 Jul 2003 (Forum)
My son will shortly be looking for a smallish car but must be an automatic as he has been used to driving one after spending a few years in Japan. The car he was driving was a 600cc auto with air con which had to have the air con switched off before it could tackle even the slightest gradient!. Well he grew to like the auto side of driving but would like something a little more powerfull, so what can he get for around £3000 of his money or a little more if I lend him the extra? -
Renault Avantime 9 Jun 2002 (Forum)
Invited to Penshurst Place, nr Tonbridge, today by Renault to test drive their range of cars. I think this is part of a national 'roadshow' - go if you get the chance, its a great day out. Had to prebook my 2 test drives (a Scenic - poor, and a Laguna - good) but grabbed the chance to drive the new Avantime for 30 mins. -

2008 Mazda 6 2.0 Diesel - Losing Power 1yr+, Engine & DPF Light & Rising oil 28 Feb 2011 (Forum)
I went to drive it again, and the powerloss had not been resolved (again 0-60mph 23 seconds) I left it a day or two thinking maybe the filters would take a while to work, only to find the engine light came on with the DPF Light came on immediatly and flashing, I had to drive another 100mile round trip that day so called the garage to let them know and book it in and also ask if it was ok to drive the 100mile round trip. -
