  • British Motor Heritage to offer Mk1 Mini bodyshells 13 Feb 2017 (News)
    British Motor Heritage is to build replacement bodyshells for Mk1 Minis. The first production run of 15 bodies will start in April with deliveries expected in May. The launch price is £9950, including VAT, and buyer’s will need to put down a 25% deposit. The early body is different to its later counterparts.
  • Ferraris set for London spectacular 7 Sep 2016 (News)
    Returning to ExCeL, the show will be held on 23-26 February and will build on the record 33,000 visitors who visited the 2016 event. The Grand Avenue, a roadway running through the centre of the show, allows visitors to see and hear their favourite classics in action. For 2017, there will be an open paddock that allows visitors to get closer to the metal. Car Club Square will feature more clubs and more cars, while top classic dealers will be on hand with more cars for sale.
  • Belfast students build electric DeLorean 21 Oct 2015 (News)
    Belfast students have built a DeLorean that runs on electricity. The undergraduates at Queen’s University in Belfast modified the DMC-12 and unveiled it on ‘Back to the Future’ day, 21 October. The car is the first DMC-12 to be built in Northern Ireland since the factory closed its doors in 1983. Students and staff from Queen’s School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, supported by NIE Networks, painstakingly restored and modified the car over the past 18 months.
  • National Motor Museum founder Lord Montagu dies 31 Aug 2015 (News)
    A champion of the classic vehicle movement, he often took part in the London to Brighton veteran car run. Most recently, he played a part in the campaign to exempt historic vehicles from the MoT test. The legislation, which came into effect in 2012, means that cars built before 1960 don’t need to have an annual test.
  • Classic advert: Subaru 360 6 Jul 2015 (News)
    Bricklin knew that the 360 would be laughed at in some quarters, hence these four self-deprecating adverts admitting that the Subaru was small and ugly – but boasting that it was cheap to buy, cheap to run and brilliantly economical. Various young ladies were shown enjoying their 360s in the ads, and their verdict was always the same: 'The little Soo-bar-ru … wow!'
