  • A bit of bother in La Belle France right now. 11 Dec 2018 (Forum)
Just an update, if anybody is planning to drive to and/or across France in the immediate future, be aware that the yellow jacket( Gilets Jaunes) protest movement have published plans on FB to close the country down on the 10th of December if their demands are not met. Fuel stations are short of fuel right now due to blockades of refineries and distribution depots, this will probably get worse.

Afternoon all. A friend told me that this might be a good place to seek advice or opinions. I was in France for a few days last month and hired a car. No problems driving it. All went well. Firstly I have approx 24 cubic metres of stuff - according to some spreadhseet I downloaded yesterday, thus I'm going to need a bigger van than a LWB sprinter (capacity 13 cubic metres), what's the biggest van I can hire on a car licence (I've been told 7.5 tonne box van) and if so anybody got any idea of their loading capacity?

Returning from a trip to France, we filled up with fuel at the BP garage in Reims. Just as we left the ferry in Dover masses of whitish/grey smoke bellowed out. We limped home at 40mph unable to accelerate as this seemed to cause the smoke to belch out.
