The engine has been stretched to 5,750cc and develops 379kW (515bhp) at 7,250rpm and 589Nm (434 lb ft) torque at 5,250rpm. Adaptive suspension offers 'sport' or 'comfort' settings. The braking has been uprated. Weight distribution is a perfect 50:50 front to rear. Belts are now full harness. And the seats offer more side support for spirited driving. No official performance figures are yet available, but expect a top speed of over 200mph, a 0-60 of less than ten seconds, fuel consumption of 10 – 15mph and correspondingly high CO2 emissions. -

Engine choice will include two 2.0-litre common-rail diesel engines, and a selection of three VVTi (Variable Valve Timing-intelligent) petrol engines, ranging from a 1.4 to a 1.6 and a 1.8-litre version. A the top of the range, the T Sport Version will feature VSC (Vehicle Stability Control), Brake Assist and the same 1.8 litre VVTLi (Variable Valve Timing and Lift intelligent) high performance engine used in the Celica T Sport, linked to a 6-speed gearbox. The design of the hatchback, saloon and estate is developed from an original concept by Toyota's European designers, based in the design centre ED² in the South of France. -

From 2006 the Trafic’s engines were all Euro 4 compliant and came as standard with a six-speed manual transmission. The specification of the facelifted Trafics would also be increased to include ABS anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD), security improved with a remote central locking with deadlocking and a cat 1 alarm and immobiliser. Phase three Trafics would use the 2.0 dCi and 2.5 dCi engines, with the 2.0-litre coming with either 90PS or 115PS and 240Nm or 290Nm of torque, the 2.5 dCi being the 150PS output version. -

What to watch The oil filter within the engine of 2007 Sprinters can become blocked and this causes the engine oil to be expelled through the dipstick hole (even though the dipstick is in place) leaving the engine to seize. Sprinters have a bit of a reputation for rust, though it’s unfair and largely down to abuse from owners - and unlined load spaces. -

The survey shows that men are more inclined to dodge necessary car repairs than women, with 19.5 per cent and 17.3 per cent respectively saying they drive cars carrying faults like worn brake pads and discs or broken suspension springs and shock absorbers. Warning lights – especially when intermittent – are also frequently ignored. Drivers in the North West (14.8 per cent) and East Midlands (15.0 per cent) are least likely to skip repairs, where as those surveyed in Scotland (22.8 per cent) were most prone to avoiding repairs because of the cost. -

King Edward VIII’s Rolls-Royce sells for £161,280 24 Jun 2015 (News)
Edward VIII would eventually abdicate the throne in 1936 to be with the American divorcee. Converted by Barker into a shooting brake with walnut-effect bodywork, the Rolls was the star of the H&H auction at Burghley House, Stamford, Lincs, on Saturday, 20 June. The Silver Ghost was one of 22 Rolls-Royce cars on offer at the sale, perhaps the most desirable being a 1964 Silver Cloud 3 Flying Spur – one of only 52 HJ Mulliner-bodied four-door sports saloons produced. -
Coventry Transport Museum reopens after £9.5m revamp 24 Jun 2015 (News)
It was a collection of cars that changed the automotive landscape forever, and included a Lamborghini Miura (the first supercar), a Mini (iconic compact car), and Jaguar C-type (pioneer of disc brakes). The parade also feature and Series One Land Rover (one of the world’s first commercially available 4x4s), and a Porsche 911 Turbo (the world’s first commercially successful turbo offering).
