New Tyres 27 Aug 2011 (Ask HJ)
I recently went to a local branch of a national tyre chain to have two front tyres replaced and the front alignment checked. After a time the mechanic... -

Ok here are the pictures i took; (hosted by imageshack) http://img501.imageshack.us/img501/4171/020gz9.jpg pic 1. slight dent in the middle, and closest to u at an increased angle http://img367.imageshack.us/img367/8121/017rg7.jpg pic 2. bird eye view on the right side http://img388.imageshack.us/img388/3239/015ir4.jpg pic 3. bumper unhooked due to wall impact http://img386.imageshack.us/img386/5430/014ht1.jpg pic 4. scuff from wall and dent (however i'm not worried about a new paint job) http://img258.imageshack.us/img258/4320/018yi6.jpg pic 5. wheel is now slightly pointing outwards more an before which is my biggest worry although someone has looked underneath to see if anything damage because of this and they found nothing as in seems the wheel took most of impact. Toyota Prius - Two MOTs In One Year (6 Months)? 25 Mar 2025 (Forum)
Went to test drive two by one seller and could tell there was something wrong as both were pulling to one side. He tried to fob it off on an uneven road surface, know he was full of it as when my wheel alignment was off it done the same thing. Most likely some suspension issue/shoddy repair work. All the MOTs on it were clean 0 advisories ever. One thing I noticed was that there was a trend of some of them having been MOT'd twice a year? -
Infiniti Q30 but Mercedes parts - Front vibration cause - Diagnostic help 14 Sep 2023 (Forum)
Basically the car vibrates from the OSF front driver side when it is cruising at 65mph+ and get worse as speed increases and some mechanical play can be felt right under where the clutch pedal area is (mine is auto). Have done wheel bearing, new tire, new brake, wheel alignment and wheel balancing but couldn't resolve the issue. Engine and gearbox are running smoothly. No strange noise can be heard but suspect inner CV joint, control arm or bushing. What could be the possible cause? -
Mercedes - Wheel balancing question 8 May 2022 (Forum)
I recently had 2 new tyres fitted to my van. The new tyres had a little yellow circle printed on the sidewall and this was aligned next to the valve. I believe this is to match the lightest part of the tyre (yellow circle) with the heaviest part of the rim (valve) which will help to balance the wheel. During balancing 80g of weights were added exactly next to the valve. -
08 vw polo 1.4 - electric power steering light 26 Sep 2015 (Forum)
Ttracking, alignment, toe, suspension and bushes are all spot on. Tyres are new and have only done 300 miles, pressures are fine. Decent tyres too, not cheapos. I know this car has speed sensitive steering...could the weird feeling I'm getting be the steering adjusting to the decrease in speed? -
Any - Xenon headlights 8 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Conversely although I had them properly dipped it was very clear they irritate the bejebus out of other road users. I am certain the alignment is spot on as well and they are dialed down correctly for load. I myself, when driving my non Xenon equipped Yaris HSD , find other vehicles who do have Xenons really irritating but boy now I can see why you people love them. -
Hyundai Santa Fe - Pulling left and right ! 2 Feb 2012 (Forum)
Hello all..I bought a Sanat Fe new in Dec 2010, and from the off it pulled to the left. It had a four wheel alignment carried out, which detected a very minor problem (not enough to account for the pull), so I've lived with it, At first service, I mentioned it to the dealer, and they swapped front and rear tyres round. -
Volkswagen Golf Mk5 Match - What is a VW door made of? Accident damage coverup 1 Oct 2011 (Forum)
But is there a way to know if the rest of the doors innards eg any safety reinforcement bars etc, are intact? Does it have any strengthening? Everything seems pretty well aligned but I'm just concerned about internal damage. Is there any place I can take this car to get it inspected to see if it's structurally sound? It drives well and the rest of the car is spotless but it would be good to have a professional opinion! -
Ford Fiesta (2002 - 2008) - 04 1.4 Steering veers to the right following kerb 22 Jan 2010 (Forum)
In the icy weather, I skidded on ice and hit a kerb; now the car veers to the right and the steering wheel is slightly harder to turn anti-clockwise compared to clockwise. Pro-tyre (good guys) adjusted the wheel alignment but suggested I go elsewhere to get the "veering problem fixed" and with no visibile evidence of bent track rods etc they suggested that the knuckle joint / UJ might need replacing where the steering column joins the rack. -
Ford Mondeo II (1996 - 2000) - 00 1.8i Rear Strut Mounting 23 Jul 2008 (Forum)
And it's the same on the other side. When the arms are refitted they obviously pull the knuckle and strut into some kind of alignment .. so I'm kinda trusting that! I've never done this before so any advice would be welcomed. Front ones are next along with the wishbones. On a different topic, I need to have my front seat welded cause it's broken at the joint. -
Mondeo uneven tyre wear 18 May 2007 (Forum)
It doesn't drive like other Mondeos I have driven before, and I find myself trying to avoid bumps etc that I can't feel in our other car. Would it be worth getting another garage (maybe a Ford Dealer) to do a tracking check, wheel alignment as well? Would there be anything else that could make the tyre wear incorrectly other than tyre pressure? Cheers All. -
UK Roads 6 May 2006 (Forum)
I did win the case but the defect has still not been repaired! It surely has come to something when vehicle tracking seems to be way out of alignment after a mere 800-1000 miles. Are the highways in desperate need of immediate attention or am I just being fussy? -
CD/Radio For 2002 Vauxhall Corsa 27 Dec 2004 (Forum)
The CD/radio went in to the cage the standard radio/cassette (Philips CAR 2004) was in, and the 3 plugs at the back all aligned, however there is nothing showing on the dashboard display, and unit cannot be turned on to enter security code. The only sign that there is power getting to the new unit is that the red security light is flashing. -
Ford Focus & TSBs 28 Nov 2004 (Forum)
I was just about to give up and live with it until I read a Ford TSB that applied to my car that described this fault exactly. It basically means the aircon pump bracket needs to be re-aligned - not a job I want to do myself. My question is, would a Ford dealer carry out this job free as it is covered by a TSB or am I still liable for cost as theres no warranty? If so I would rather use a local garage. -
Headlight adjustment - neccessary? 26 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I intend to replace them with the uttermost care so as not to move the reflector, so would back roomers suggest getting the allignment checked, is this likely to upset the alignment, or will it not have changed (how easy is it to knock out of place?) The MOT was only last month and the lights were correcly alligned then. Car is 92 Ford Escort Incidently, isnt it annoying how the little things go wrong just AFTER an MOT/service!!! -
Micro scratches - any remedy? 17 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Toad Toyota has been very carefully polished with freshly washed dusters and the best of non-abrasive polishes available to me with very good effect except that, if the light and the viewer are aligned in the right - or wrong - way, numbers of fine scratches can be made out, presumably due to application of abrasive polishes or inadequately clean cloths back in Japan or perhaps in the course of preparation by the importers. -
New Tyres - Golf TDI Mk4 (S-98) 12 Feb 2003 (Forum)
Original ContiEcontact (195/65 R 15 91T) on front worn out (of alignment) after 22k miles - replaced with Michelin (-EXT2) which now need replacement after 38k, which I presume is well done. Also, I am happy with dry/wet grip, etc. Original Conti rear tyres also need replacing now (after 60k) - so I don't have problem of good ones on front or rear! -
Nissan Primera - Wheels turn when I drive over dip or hole in road 2 Dec 2018 (Forum)
It has passed the MOT too. They told me the tracking was off, which I took to 4 wheel laser tracking alignment, but I don't think it has helped. I don't even know if they did the job correctly. I bought the car, last year (it was a low mileage version), but I don't know if it has a hidden history or accident. -
Mercedes-Benz C-Class Estate - Car pulling to the left 10 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Hi, Just read somewhere on the forum about the mercedes c class pulling to the left, I to have the same problem on my c250 cdi amg sport estate, new on 21/2/14. Booked it into the dealer last week where they carried out the tracking/wheel alignment and gave declared that the car runs perfectly straight. Charged me £132. Drove the car home and exactly the same pulling to the left problem. Rang the dealer, suggested that I bring the car back in to try it.
