  • Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 99 1.5D Instrument Cluster/Clocks not working 26 Aug 2009 (Forum)
Please help! None of the clocks on the Instrument Panel/Cluster are working, not even the fuel. The only thing working is the LCD milage counter. When I bought the car the rpm clock wasn't working but I didn't bother because you can leave without it. But a few months later the rest of the clocks stopped working too...
  • Volkswagen Polo III (1994 - 1999) - 97 1.6 swapping motors on 1.6 polo 4 Jul 2009 (Forum)
I have repowered my polo after a cam belt failure, original motor was AHS model, new motor is 98 AHS model. Almost everything appears same except plumbing of fuel rail. The motor spins and has a spark but will not start?? I have been told since that you may need entire loom with engine?( new motor, old loom in car.) Is this potentially a problem? There is a small crack around the coil/cdi but still have spark at plug. any help appreciated

  • 1812 overdriveture 15 May 2009 (Forum)
Discussion on Radio 4 today about electric cars being a lot quieter than fossil fueled motors ... a petrol/diesel motor can be heard from 12ft away where'as an electric job can only be heard from 3 ft away (have I explained that properly!) They were saying electric cars may have to be made more noticible to peds and some suggestions were ~ Horses hooves ... but would sound like a stampede on the M25 etc., etc.

hi , can anyone help. my 2002 mondeo 2.0l lx tdci has started to judder. mainly in fourht and fith gear. i have changed the fuel filter as i though that may be the problem since it hasnt been changed for ages but the problem still goes on. starts fine runs ok in slow speeds but uphill it splutters a little and the acceleration seems to be poor. no warning lights are coming on. recently i had to refit my back box with a clamp as it fell off wondering if this is causing problem. c

I am completely clueless when it comes to cars, I owned an Alfa Romeo 156 before this car so I am used to something with a little more grunt, but am loving my nippy new 107 and the fuel economy is fantastic ! Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks ! Clarice.
  • Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 99 1.9td dead turbo 11 Apr 2009 (Forum)
hi i have the above car with 130k on the clock but over the past 10k miles or so the turbo has lost some kick to the point where theres virtually no boost at all now. Is this something that would be repairable or is the turbo integral to the engine also fuel economy has come down drastically would the two issues be connected or should i be looking for a new car as always deeply grateful for any help or advice provided. Ps has been regularly serviced over past 3 years so has been looked after at least by me anyway!

  • Peugeot 406 (1999 - 2004) - 00 2.0 HDI will not start 2 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Hi and a happy new year to you all The car will not start and when the ignition is turned it tries to fire up briefly and then just turns over. I expect from waht I've already read on the forum that it's one of the following 1. Fuel pump - how do I know if it's Siemens or Bosch thats fitted? and where are they located 2. Glow plugs - although Ive not been experiencing any starter difficulties preceding this problem 3. Glow plug relay Are my assumptions correct?

  • M5 shut after LPG Land Rover fire 30 Dec 2008 (Forum)
The road was closed for an hour at junction 27, the Sampford Peverell turn-off, near Tiverton, after the incident at about 1130 GMT. 26 December 2008 Police said the motorway was closed for safety reasons because the vehicle was dual-fuelled, carrying petrol or diesel and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) fuel." I have not seen any other reports of other road closures for this reason. Will this lead to LPG conversions having warning stickers re LPG?
  • France - 30 Years behind UK 21 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I remember filling up with petrol close to Dover in past times (maybe even 30 years ago) because the price in France was so ferocious. It's like old times - diesel fuel is more or less the same price now after the Pound has dropped against the Euro, but petrol is going to cost you around £1.20 a litre. I hear that some of the booze in the "cheap" shops at Calais is now more expensive than your local Sainsburys and the car parks are empty.
  • Peugeot 307 (2001 - 2007) - 02 2.0HDI Reconditioned engine not running right. 17 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I have recently had a RHYY 2.0HDI 90BHP reconditioned engine fitted in in my car. This included everything bar the flywheel even had some used ANS (???) sound fuel injectors. Still having trouble with the car and it won't go above 2500 revs in idle. Checked nearly everything - can anyone suggest anything else ? Re-written word for word from the OP's post which was in caps.

  • Free car data check 24 Nov 2008 (Forum)
You enter the car registration number, and it reveals the Manufacturer, Model, Body type, Colour, Fuel, Date manufactured, no of previous owners, and last owner date change. Its not detailed but it is free, after all. Might be useful for checking how old your neighbours "cherished plated" Merc really is, or how many times that old dog you sold last year has been passed on.
  • Ford Mondeo III (2000 - 2007) - 01 2.0 Diesel cuts out when hot 23 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Hello Chaps I've got a problem with my 2001 Mondeo 2.0ltr Diesel - 155000 miles I get blueish white smoke when starting from cold and the engine runs a little lumpy' this clears up after a while and it runs fine until it gets hot, it then starts to misfire a bit and then gets worse until it stops and won't restart until it's cold. I have replaced the fuel filter - cleaned the EGR - replaced the temp sensor, with no effect Any ideas
  • Mazda RX8 (2003 - ) - What's an RX8 like as a long term proposition? 17 Nov 2008 (Forum)
Yes I know about the heavy fuel/oil consumption, high emissions and the lack of torque but what is this car like to live with apart from that? It comes with the recommendation of Jay Leno (someone who despite the buffoon act really knows his cars) and they are priced very temptingly now.
