Motoring & memory - how about you? 9 May 2009 (Forum)
You could almost expect the 67, red and cream Triumph twin to be behind you - poised with a tank of Super - only a fast 90mph blast down those country lanes - to the flaxen haired girl, parents and the Alsation who`s sharp little puppy teeth left small white marks - still evident on these ageing hands and - as realised dimly, even then - companions until eternity. Speaking of which, It was crazed as an adult and used to think that cars were alive. Even when The Old Man arrived home in his own car, the dog used to let out a howl like a wolf and go for the only soft part, the tires - with as much ferocity as can be imagined. There was then the apologetic whining when the Old Man got out.... as though it didn`t know he was in there. -
Skoda Superb (2002 - 2008 ) - Misuse of vehicle recalls. 6 Nov 2007 (Forum)
My VAG vehicle (Skoda) is just over 3 years old and hence out of warranty. I was telephoned by the local dealer who suggested that I might like to book the car in for a service and an MOT. The car is on variable servicing (but has since been serviced by me) and I have an excellent independently run MOT garage nearby - so no thanks. -
Is there such a car? 25 Nov 2020 (Forum)
Gonna need to change my car in the next few months. Currently drive a Toyota Yaris which is ok but it’s starting to get uncomfortable and giving me knee pain... Being 6ft4 doesn’t help but it’s my wife’s old car as I bought a new estate last year for her and our two boys; so this is the cheap runaround... -

Part-ex-ing car. Radio needs code. Problem or not? 12 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Have ordered a new car from a main dealer. Now waiting 6 weeks for delivery. Part of the deal is a part-ex of my 7 year old car. I've just removed the ipod adaptor from the factory fit stereo as it was something I'd bought seperately and installed.. and I can flog it for a few quid on eBay. -
Audi A6 Saloon - Cat D. Am I wise to buy? 24 Feb 2011 (Forum)
[endif]--> Hi I am looking at buying an 2007 Audi a6 that I just found out is a cat d write off. The dealer has said that the car was only damaged slightly on the back side. The dealer bought the car and repaired the panel for £2k and the car looks in good shape. However what I am unsure off is why the initial insurance company decided to write off a 3 year old car when it could have been repaired and cheaply?? -

Buying a car at auction 4 Sep 2006 (Forum)
The car I'm looking for is a Golf 2.0 GT TDi 5 door under 2 years old with under 20k miles on the clock, do these cars come up very often and how much do they tend to go for? Also do many of them have sat-nav, as I'd like to find one that has it. -

Hi My sister is lucky enough to be due a replacement company car in June/July this year. She will be buying or possibly leasing the car and needs to be ideally 2 or 3 years old. She currently drives a 2014 Ford Focus 1.8 auto. Its been reliable, reasonably nippy but with 80k on the clock now it seems to be a but sluggish up and down the hills of Yorkshire where she often visits clients Budget : approx £23k Year : 2019/2020 Mileage : 10-15k miles a year. -

https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/05/170523144338.htm So, swapping a diesel car for a petrol may only be a short lived reprieve, in relation to where the Tax crosshairs are going to be pointed next. I wouldn't be surprised, if after everybody has moved back to Petrol, Cities start charging for some newer Petrol cars to enter them too, and so the big old tax revenue circle continues. -
Car Buying Recommendations 4 Jun 2015 (Forum)
I have a summer house on the coast of Georgia, USA that my family and I visit every summer for about a month and I've been pestering my dad to get a car out there for my friends and I to drive around. I live in London, UK all year round but I only have a US drivers license so here's the guidelines to what I want in the car: - Sporty - has to be a car with performance and a good engine - 2 doors - Cabriolet (aka convertible) - In the Georgian heat, driving round is so much better top down - Can be new or used (but preferably not over 5 years old (2010)) - Has to have a backseat of sorts - I don't care if you can't fit a human baby in them, it has to have some sort of back seats to check a box with the dad - Budget is up to (and maybe slightly over) $90k. -

BMW 3 Series - HPI Check 30 Mar 2013 (Forum)
I have just tried to buy a car from a dealer in Liverpool. The car was a 2009 Black 320D SE The car was advertised with full service history, 53700 miles at £9700, which I thought was a low price. Working on the old adage, if something seems to be too good to be true, that would normally be the case. -
Key Scam 14 Nov 2011 (Forum)
I dont think its particularly new, im sure this sort of thing has happened before (probably as old as the card trick to be honest) but if you read around on the net including some other forums you might see theres been a few instances of it reported recently. These crooks depend on alot of variables to pull this off and might have to go and see 15 cars before they get the opportunity but just a warning to anybody selling a halfway desirable car privately. -
Esure car insurance 8 Oct 2011 (Forum)
I've been with the Co-op for a few years and they've always been really competitive and I think the customer service is great. I have recently bought much newer car (1 year old Peugeot 3008) and initially I swapped the existing policy to the new car. Renewal is now due and coming in at £763. I found out I could save about £150 if I cancel policy and take out another through the Co-op website (which I think is pretty shoddy) but I also put my details into Confused.com and Esure came out at £400. -
ANPR catch - insurance issue 28 Mar 2009 (Forum)
Friend was "caught without insurance" driving his 2006 car. This car is insured in his name under it's original reg number. A wee while after the policy was started, he transferred a private plate (a 2001 Y-plate with his initials) onto the car from his old one but forgot to advise his insurers (genuine lapse!). -
Toyota Aygo (2005 - ) - Real world mpg 26 Jul 2008 (Forum)
Since having the car I've moderated my driving style to be slower and smoother - not taken the car over 70 yet, according to satnav. Real mpg figures measured brim to brim(unleaded petrol, not diesel or super unleaded) thus far since new in April are: 55 55 58 57 57 57 55 58 61 58 58 59 65 To put that into perspective, yer actual money saved on fuel compared to doing the same mileage on my old car is £566 since April 22nd 2008. -
Recommend a deep cushion child booster seat? 25 Mar 2008 (Forum)
All the boosters I have looked at seem to have relatively shallow cushions, quite unsuited to providing a good view out the window for a 5 year old when latest generation car design tend to decrease visibility and a feeling of "openess" the further back in the car you go. And the seat doesn't settle very well when used in the centre rear seat position to try and provide better visibility, especially round corners!
