Fiesta 1.4 TDCI Engine characteristics?? 17 Jun 2007 (Forum)
it also sounds a bit like its pinking on acceleration higher gear lower revs. Anyone else experienced these traits on their motor?? I beleive the Peugeot C3 has the same engine.... Getting a bit peeved looking and sounding like a learner driver!!!! (my other car is an 05 Audi S4 - proper drivers car) and I can drive that one allright!! :-) Best wishes and Thanks for your time Stu The other thread you started has been deleted to isolate answers to this one. -
Which cars cause fewest complaints? 13 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Thinking particularly about reliability, I have the impression that (looking at Backroom threads rather than JD Power etc) the makes which cause fewest complaints seem to be: Subaru Citroen (plenty of ink spilt over French cars, but nearly always Renaults and Peugeots) Vauxhall Mazda Skoda The national surveys usually put Honda, Toyota and Nissan near the top, but Backroomers seem to have been casting doubts on these reputations recently. Maybe DD can help as he seems to have an amazing memory for what has been posted here. -
Saab 93 Linear Stereo 25 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hi I have just got rid of my Peugeot 407 to some unsuspecting new member of our sales team (Ha Ha) and taken the Saab Linear that was just handed back and need to ask a really non technical question about the stereo. Well to be honest it is the worst stereo I have ever heard, it looks like they have left all the bass and tweeters out and just left the little mid range ones in for the basic stereo. -
Clutch clunk and flashing lights! Pug206 23 Apr 2006 (Forum)
I cant change gear when pedal does this. (Although if i bring back up again and try it works!?) I have taken to Peugeot, who found no fault and have taken to 4 other mechanics - they say same thing (it never happens when with them!). I have got some response from (ahem . . ) another forum (cheeky!) www.parkers.co.uk/advice/message_board/topic.asp? -
believe the hype 15 Nov 2005 (Forum)
However, what puts me off is the wind noise at speed (new Toyota Avensis had the same problem), the tapered mirrors are not great and the fact that the foot rest is not that well positioned for my size 12 shoes. I had the same issue with the Peugeot 407 last week, where every time I place my foot on the footrest (or lift it up), it catches the edge of the clutch pedal. I thought it was all hype about the Mondeo TDCi on these boards. I was wrong. -
Medium to Large Estate Car 3 Nov 2005 (Forum)
My missus and i have got a 4 month old baby and are fed up trying to fit all the baby stuff into a peugeot 306. The pushchair will only just get in the boot, let alone trying to get in all the other stuff. We are therefore looking for a medium to large estate car that is reliable, loads of space, (flexibility with seats would be good), economical etc. -
Estate car with front and rear legroom 21 Feb 2005 (Forum)
We currently have a Peugeot 406 estate. Since children are getting ever taller (daughter about 5'7" with long legs, son on course to be a six footer), we need a car with plenty of front and rear legroom. My husband is 6' tall with long body and shorter legs, whilst I am 5'8" with 34" inside leg measurement. -
Help with next car please: 21 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Hiya, I am new to this forum but have been on many others; mondeo, seat, bmw, audi, focus, peugeot, golf etc etc. I am on my 38th car and about to swap it for my 39th, but, what do I get next? I wondered if I put my requirements on here, you lot out there might be bored enough to have a read and come up with some answers for me. -
Which car? 19 Oct 2004 (Forum)
I don't really want to but a Ford/Vauxhall type thing due to bad experiences.. Previously I have owned Peugeot/Citroen type things, get on well with them and am familiar with how to fix the 'oily bits' In addition we have both a Eurocarparts and GSF shops within a few miles so getting spares are a breeze. -

Alternatives to Polo? 16 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Have driven (in the same class): Fiesta (1999, diesel) -- not impressed Corsa (2001?, petrol) -- drives OK but feels smaller Peugeot 206 (T-reg) -- drives OK but not impressed with build quality Clio (2002) -- drives OK but feels smaller Jazz (2003) -- best of the bunch, but still feels like a small car, and noisy engine compared to Polo, also more expensive (perhaps not like for like, but I'm not interested in 'spec'). -
307 = Ford Pinto? 2 Sep 2003 (Forum)
, who said that it was possible that the car could catch fire and lock you in it, or lock you out of getting someone else out of the burning vehicle. Peugeot's recall was, according to the show, classified as "non-safety". For a soundbite, the forensic guy was asked whether he would be happy to drive a 307. He said he wouldn't even park next to one. -
VX Astra - 'T' or 'H' rated tyres ? 11 Feb 2003 (Forum)
The car's handbook just says 175/65/14 T or H. Can I fit T's ?, or do I have to fit H's by law. ( coincidentally, my other car (a Peugeot 406 2.1 TD) is also listed by Parker's as having a top speed of 118mph and I know it's got H rated tyres on it ) Jock -
Berlingo MUltispace/Partner Combi 25 Nov 2002 (Forum)
The Pug Partner Combi HDI is more expensive, but the basic model comes with more gizmos, and cheaper add-ons (nearly £200 less to add ABS). Best of all though is that Peugeot are offering a 0% finance deal over three years, with a deposit of £1500. On this basis, the Pug is better value. We actually have enough cash, but this will save us more in lost interest than our estimated bangernomics replace and/or repair budget of £500 per annum, and we are very tempted. -

AUTOMATIC GEARBOX TYPES 13 Dec 2024 (Forum)
I'm considering: Honda Jazz / VW golf / citronella c4 cactus / Hyundai ix20 / Ford focus, fiesta, b-max / Peugeot 106 / Toyota yaris! Questions: are the newer Toyota better than the model I had (what 'model' should I look for / avoid) I've heard the newer ford's have a "wet cambelt" that is very expensive to replace ...what should I look for / avoid. -
Wiper blades - how often to replace? Which makes are best? 26 Jun 2023 (Forum)
I think wiper blades are probably a bit like tyres - impossible to assess quality just by looking at them. The OM ones on our Peugeot are nearly 4yrs and 20,000 miles old and show no sign of deterioration. I have not had to replace the ones on my 17yr old Audi during my 9yrs and 25,000 miles of ownership; I have no idea how old they are. -
Mazda CX-5, Hyundai Tuscon, Vauxhall Mokka - 'New' SUV 9 Mar 2022 (Forum)
Something that I am also after is good reliability. I have had nothing but problems with my current car (Peugeot 3008) and have so far had to spend £1500+ to get it to a point where I can sell it because of auto gearbox issues. Price wise I am looking at pcp deals at the mo with a max spend of £350pm and a £7000 deposit. -
Advice for next car -suv 15 May 2021 (Forum)
Options so far are another sportage (but I don't want a new one of they end up changing/updating it soon), Peugeot 3008, Honda CRV, seat Ateca and Hyundai Tucson. I currently pay just under £300/ month and want to stick to that as best I can. I like tech and as I have lots of kit on my current car is like to keep at least most of what I have. -
Citroen C1 - private seller vs franchise: milliage + cost 14 Aug 2019 (Forum)
I'm looking at second hand cars in the price range of £1000-2000 and it looks like I will have to choose to either have a high mileage or older car. Most of the cars I'm looking at are toyota aygo, citroen c1 or peugeot 107's (UK). What would be best between: - 2009 car 95,000 mileage £1250 (private) - 2006 car 61,000 mileage £1700 (franchise) - 2010 car <!--td {border: 1px solid #ccc;}br {mso-data-placement:same-cell;}-->77053 mileage £2000 (franchise) dg10mme <!
