Volvo V70 Pre Heater 4 Mar 2003 (Forum)
Does anyone have a Volvo Pre-Heater? Is it a dealer fit extra? How much was it? I assume it to be a Webasto fuel burning unit with the Volvo name on it. Does anyone know if Volvo come with part of it already installed, so it's only slightly more to add to this to make it a full pre-heater? This is on a 2003 D5 car. -

Big diesel towcar? 23 Jul 2002 (Forum)
It has been a great towcar for his huge double axle caravan with that torquey 204bhp straight 6. However, the fuel economy was pretty dire and the towing took major strain on the tired mechanical components of the car. So now we are on the lookout for a big diesel that will tow a large caravan and still be relatively economical for day to day use. -
new Hyundai? 27 Apr 2002 (Forum)
The magazines seem to suggest a Celica is a better long term bet but I quite like the idea of the Hyundai V6 model - although fuel bills would probably scare me into the 2 litre version. (btw - it's a shame they don't offer the same warranties that they do in the US - a 5 yr manufacturer warranty would surely help sales here!) -
VW Golf Diesel Cam Belt - COST! 11 May 2001 (Forum)
Total bill £630 of which 4 hours (at £65) just for the cam belt plus parts of almost £100 again just for the cam belt. They sell you on the good fuel consumption but forget to tell you of the ridiculous running costs. How can a cam belt on a modern engine really take 4 hours? Any ideas? -
Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer - Is this MPG-based scheme unfair? Help please! 7 Feb 2016 (Forum)
The car is fuelled with a company credit card or from the company diesel pump, and his private mileage repayment is calculated by working out how much of that fuel was spent on business miles. They do this by calculating how much fuel would have been used if the car achieved the manufacturer's mpg rate, and anything on top of that is deemed to be private mileage, for which the employee is charged. -
Vauxhall Corsa C - Corsa C won’t start first attempt, but will second 28 Nov 2014 (Forum)
TIMING BELT: Noisy but I’ve heard worse. FUEL PUMP PRIME: Read somewhere it could be to do with the fuel system and to try priming the pump before starting her up. Turned the key one clicked a few times this morning and she started first time, but after abit of a struggle (couple of seconds) going to try again tonight. -
Fiat Grande Punto 1.9 - Had the car only 3months..what are my rights! 22 May 2012 (Forum)
The garage said they had a good look around and everything mechanicaly looks ok and could not pin point the problem, but if they had a guess it could possably be the 'Fuel Injectors' as the engine seems to be working very hard and recommended i go to a Diesel Injector Specialist as they do not have the tooling and specialist equipment to diagnose and fix the problem. Fortunate enough there is Diesel Fuel Injection Specialist down the road from my work. -
audi A3 2.0 TDI 2015 184 - Audi 2.0 TDI 184 H.G issue? 2015 4 Feb 2024 (Forum)
Ebay sell new ones, but without the cap? MPG has dropped slightly of late, i thought the fuel was watered down! at least 5MPG less , on average! Had the 'top op oil' light on , the other week! Otherwise car is solid! 87k, recent cambelt and WP, full history, i changed and flushed the oil, last year, never thrashed, never overheated, i use mainly for motorway and A roads, i occasionally add fuel additive, every other tankful. -
Focus 2016 1.5tdci Estate 120 - What is happening here? 3 Aug 2020 (Forum)
There was a noise similar to a pump/fan but difficult to make out because of background noise from ships in the harbour, and also a clicking noise. It also happened earlier in the day. I recall smelling a fuel that my first impression was paraffin. I probably assumed this as I also heard a jet style noise, but then common sense prevailed as I doubt I would be close enough to a jet engine to smell the fuel without really knowing it was there. -

Peugeot 106 1.5d 95' TUD5 Rev Hunts, slower starting, performance down Timing? 17 Oct 2019 (Forum)
Morning all. Posted the other week re air / fuel leak causing cut out. Turned out to be leaky fuel filter/pipe. Now fixed. Thanks to all helping on that one. Now fixed but since this the engine is slower to start (still less than 1.5 seconds but used to be split second) and sometimes the rev's hunt up and down. -
Dodge Caliber - Car won't start - battery issue? 8 Jan 2019 (Forum)
Last week, a warning light appeard (the Malfunction Indicator light, which accoring do the book could be "fuel cap not on properly, instability in the fuel etc" - not very helpul, but it went off after 2 days (which the book says it might do). Again today, it needed a jump start and the warning light came back on. -
Nissan S Cargo 1990 - 1990 Nissan not starting 17 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Hi everyone I have a Nissan S Cargo that won't start, it has spark and has compression so that leaves fuel. It was running when I drove it into my unit which was a couple of months ago, when I say it was running, it was stuttering when it got hot (say after an hour of driving) but once I left it for 30 minutes it would drive fine again. -

Cheap running costs for 10k/year commute 3 Dec 2016 (Forum)
Acceleration, style/image, size, etc are not important. I don't care if the autobox is unrefined but I care very much if it wastes fuel. Insurance costs are low as I'm ancient and live somewhere quiet; it's all about the depreciation and fuel. There are a lot of small cars with small petrol engines which show very high MPG numbers, but I'm suspicious of how these actually perform in the real world - especially with an automatic gearbox. -
VW Passat TDI 2001 - Starting Problem 25 Nov 2015 (Forum)
we left it for 5 mins then turned off the engine, tried to start it again but same problem, more easy start and it fired up. The mech gave me a report for my garage which said "diesel fuel possibly being pushed back from the injectors.".?? the car has now been in the garage since the 23/7/07,the mech said he has done a EMU check and it showed no problem ,the fuel pump is okay but the starting problem remains the same.. -
focus focus 1.8 tdci - focus focus 1.8 tdci weird starting problems 29 Jun 2014 (Forum)
Anyways I have ask around many people. Most of the answers are that from somewhere air in going in the fuel line. That's why it has trouble starting. And if it starts gives while smoke. I am just worried it might be the fuel pump. If the car starts it drives fine everything is good power is fine. -
Focus 1.8 TDCi - 2002 Focus 1.8 TDCi poor starting 22 Feb 2014 (Forum)
Usually, unless it is very cold (i.e. below freezing) the car initially seems to start fine, runs for 2 or 3 seconds, and then stalls. Could this mean it is not getting enough fuel? When it is very cold on the first crank it usually just turns over, coughs and never quite catches. I've tried using the glow plugs for three attempts of ten seconds apiece, and whilst this appears to improve things, it will occasionally still stall. -
Tyres Optimised for Ride Quality 12 May 2013 (Forum)
I have a set of Michelin Alpin A4 winter tyres on steel rims for the car, and their ride comfort is amazing, albeit with a slight penalty in fuel consumption. I do strongly recommend the Alpin A4 winter tyres. When the Primacy HP tyres needed replacing, I replaced all four with the new Continental EcoContact 5 tyres, having read good reports online regarding noise and ride quality.
