Morning all.
Posted the other week re air / fuel leak causing cut out. Turned out to be leaky fuel filter/pipe. Now fixed. Thanks to all helping on that one.
Now fixed but since this the engine is slower to start (still less than 1.5 seconds but used to be split second) and sometimes the rev's hunt up and down. Seems little or now pattern to this ... hot, cold, start up, running ... is just every now and again.
When engine running, there is definitely a fractional lull in performance now and then. For example, going up to Screwfix just, I slowed at a junction and pulled away in third accidentally (not a good idea I know) but it definitely confirmed the lull in engine performance ... not the gear itself but you could see and hear the rev's drop a bit.
Question is ... is this a timing issue? And if it is what to do?
Just to note, engine is high miles but carefully used and maintained ... never missed a beat. Uses synthetic oil, always serviced. Had water pump replaced 18 month ago by garage ... (not failed, just prevention). Timing belt and set up was done maybe 8 years back by decent garage. Diesel pump was replaced at same time with a decent refurbished unit done by decent folk. Absolutely zero smoke and always passes emissions.
Would the hunting and power lulls likely be timing? Keen to hear any ideas on that. As I say it ran like a sewing machine for years and years until this air leak.
Thanks in advance
