Jaguar X-Type 2 litre D 54 reg Dark Blue on A12 - Smokey the bandit 20 Sep 2011 (Forum)
I followed it for ten miles all the time he was trailing a big plume. Quite oblivious to it as well. If that was unburnt fuel he must have been getting godawful mpg. Wonder how clunkers like that get MOT's. -
I Have a Question about 'Blue Fin' 8 May 2011 (Forum)
Will it damage my engine or reduce its life span? Some superchip products say they will also improve fuel consumption. Does anyone have any experience with these type of products/claims? -

Ford Transit Connect - Stiff crankshaft turning 9 Jan 2011 (Forum)
After speaking to a mechanic yesterday, it seems the crankshaft gets very stiff at certain points (about every 2 1/2 turns) putting too much tension on the tensioner and bending the tab. As the fuel pump is chain driven by the crank and the camshaft is belt driven by the pump, im beginning to think it could be a damaged chain or sprocket. Could this have happened with a cambelt failure? -

Saab 95 2.2diesel - smoking diesel 24 Aug 2010 (Forum)
I have an 04 plate Saab 95 2.2 turbo diesel, that has started to run very rough. it has 55,000 on the clock, and was serviced @50,000. it starts without any problem, and runs well until it gets up to temperature, then it runs very rough, blows too much smoke, and is using too much fuel (down from av. 45 mpg to 38 mpg). When running, it accellerates ok, but when it is held on a steady thottle, you can feel the engine hunting, and it blows a lot of smoke, can anyone help me? -

Current 2nd car is a 2000 Mazda 323 1.5, with 87,000 miles which we have had for 2 years and and do 2000 miles per year in Unfortunatly the 1.5 engine is a tadslow and are thinking about replacing it in the next 12 to 18 months car currently have about £1,000 plus part exchange value, any idea of a suitable replacement bearing in mind the following (1) Fuel economy between 40 to 50 mpg (2) Co2 emmisions of not more 160g/km (3) Car insurance group maximum 8 (4) If possible room to fit two bikes in back. -
Peugeot 306 (1993 - 2001) - 01 2.0 non starting hdi 15 Jun 2009 (Forum)
Hi, I have a problem in so much as my 306 hdi just will not start. Driving along one day it cut out and has not run since. It is not a fueling problem on the pumping side, it is on the electrical side. There is no feed going to the injectors to open them, Ecu been checked and is fine so it tends to look more like maybe a broken wire or relay something like that. -

Medium Van - Merc Vito or VW Transporter?? 20 Mar 2009 (Forum)
I like the Merc Vito, but also the VW Transporter. Which is bigger, the VW looks it? In the terms of reliability, residual value and fuel efficiency, which comes out on top? Which would people chose if presented with two identical spec vans from the different manufactures? Thanks -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 1995 (1.5L diesel) Diesel pump leak 18 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Hello, Just had car serviced and mechanic says the fuel pump has a leak underneath: he said its diifficult to see where it is coming from. He said it needs to go to a specialist to be repaired and will cost a lot of money, at least £300. I feel a prat as I have just bought the car! -
Jaguar / Land Rover and the Government 15 Jan 2009 (Forum)
Why should the Government, who are taxing high emission cars and want us to move into smaller more fuel efficient cars be surprised at the problems being experienced by these two companies. Looking at the SMMT figures Jaguar have one model with CO2 emissions of under 150g and Land Rover has 2 with emissions under 200g (none any where near 150g). -
Peugeot 106 (1991 - 2002) - 98 1.5d starting problems 13 Dec 2008 (Forum)
Hi I just started to have trouble starting my 106 1.5 diesel yesterday.it allways started ok before. what happens is the car turns over fine but will not try to fire if you put the key in and out of the ignition and turn it off and on it will eventually start. the problem as far as I can tell is from the immobilizer or the fuel cut-off solenoid is sticking. Does anyone know how I can test these to see if they are the problem. the immobilizer is the type with the chip in the key. thank you
