Volkswagen Golf III (1992 - 1997) - 1997 2.0 8 valve GTi - not revving over 5000 rpm 1 Jun 2008 (Forum)
I have a 97 2.0 8v GTi. I scanned the ECU which showed the Hall sensor out of tolerance, replaced the distributor(the whole thing) and it cleared the fault, checked and traced all wires back to the ECU all fine, car runs like it should when fault code cleared when running but as soon a switched off fault comes back. any help would be greatfull doing my head in only reving to 5000 now and car is not as responsive as it can be. thanks mike corrected the 50000 rev thing. -
FIAT Punto (1994 - 1999) - Injector warning lamp ON (1998 75SX) 20 Sep 2007 (Forum)
I've checked out the ignition coils, leads and connectors and the spark plugs seem to be sparking OK. Unplugging the connectors from the ECU and spraying them with contact cleaner sometimes makes the fault go away for a few days and then it comes back again. The Haynes manual doesn't show the injector wiring for the multipoint system so I don't know where they are connected to on the ECU to check out the individual connectors. -

Vauxhall Meriva - 2011 Vauxhall Meriva ABS/TC issue 30 Oct 2022 (Forum)
They then tested the wires and said there wasn't an issue with the wires, and so now they now have concluded it must be the ECU that's fine funny. They said they don't do ECU's and would send it off to get tested and fixed or replaced. I asked for estimates on best case and worse case which they are writing up for me so I can decide on what to do. -
vauxhall zafira b - MAF sensor replacement. 5 May 2025 (Forum)
Hi I have a number of ECU errors which are most like related to the MAF sensor. I have replace the air filter and cleaned the MAF sensor with Liquid Moly cleaner. It has not helped though. Looking at live data from the ECU just gives 0's for the live MAF looking at car parts sites using my reg gives MAF sensors in housings which can't be right as the housing does not come off on my car. -
Audi RS5 - Where do I stand 21 Jun 2024 (Forum)
“During post sale checks The Company received data suggesting your vehicle has travelled more miles than the current odometer reading. To validate this data we arranged for your vehicle’s Engine Control Unit (ECU) to be read. The results of the ECU reading identified that your vehicle’s mileage has been tampered with” Am I within my right to go back to Audi with this imformation? -
Leon idle problem - constant hunting when cold 26 Oct 2018 (Forum)
This goes on for about 15 minutes until the engine has warmed up, at which time the idling is fine around 900 rpm. Know someone with a diagnostic tool, and the ECU reports no problems. From looking around the forum I can see injectors or glow plugs may be the culprit (would have thought they would be reported in the ECU though). Any suggestions? cheers -

Peugeot 307 SW (2002 - 2008) - 03 2.0 HDi Refilling diesel additive tank 22 Feb 2011 (Forum)
Having read this and other forums I realise that after filling the tank I'll need to get the additive dosing ECU and the main ECU reset. The problem is that the kit comes with no instructions and it's not obvious how to fill it. If anyone has managed to do this job I'd be grateful for any tips. Many thanks, Richard -

Rover 200 (1995 - 1999) - 97 1.4 unable to start the engine 18 Nov 2009 (Forum)
I've changed the fuel filter, spark plugs, ht leads, crank sensor and nothing makes any difference. it varies from not starting at all to starting then cutting out after a few seconds. I've had 3 different people look at it. one suggested the ecu, we got a second hand one but made no difference. someone from the garage said a new ecu is no good unless you have immobiliser box and key fob to match. They have suggested getting an auto elecy to try and bypass the immoboliser. any suggestions?
