  • Door won't open 19 Oct 2002 (Forum)
I do not have the time today to be removing the window runner in order to see more of the mechanism. Has anybody had a similar problem with another Citroen or Peugeot? Thanks in advance. Ben
  • Citroen ZX Turbo Diesel - cooling fan 18 Sep 2002 (Forum)
I asked him if the radiator cooling fan should remain on when the engine reached normal temperature. He said that on this model Citroen (and a similar Peugeot) the fan remained on. Not convinced I went along to the local Citroen dealer and asked. The guy behind the desk went to ask a mechanic and came to say that the fan should only operate to cool the radiator and then go off.
  • Pattern oil filters etc 24 Jul 2002 (Forum)
After reading Car Mechanics I had a look at http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/oil_filter_study This is obviously a few years old, done by a layman rather than a professional, and based on American sources not British, but it does seem to indicate that many sources of what I had believed to be OE standard replacement parts are now manufactured in the third world, and may be of doubtful quality. I used to insist on Fram or similar. Its enough to get me to buy Peugeot parts. Can anyone direct me to a suitable OE standard maker/retailer? If anyone has a web address for any newer study than the one above I would be grateful.
  • Common Rail Diesel Woes 12 Mar 2002 (Forum)
As you know these new systems run at incredibly high pressures and inject the fuel directly into the combustion chamber, A peugeot was suffering from a misfire on one cylinder, a compression test revealed almost non-existent compression so the head was removed. A neat hole had been drilled through the piston by a malfunctioning injector squirting a needle sized jet at the piston instead of a fine mist.
  • Injectors or not??????? 11 Feb 2002 (Forum)
I have a 1992 Peugeot 405 1.8td which has covered 109000 miles and it is not a happy bunny . Cold starting is a problem at the moment . It starts first time and idles for about 10 seconds and then dies . ( if you rev it , it also dies ) .
  • Help for something I really should know please 4 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Am I right to infer that the resistance and stalling tells me this is gear linkage/cable and not clutch failure? 2. As I can ( just about) get down on my back and slide under the front (Peugeot/Talbot van) is this a job I should be able to do please? Any tips will be welcomed and thanks in advance.
  • Audi 20V hydraulic tappets 26 Jan 2002 (Forum)
The car could also use a new set of shock absorbers, so I'll probably take it off the road for a while, and buy a cheap car (NOT Martin Glover's Peugeot 309) to keep me mobile while I sort out the Audi at a leisurely pace.
  • 306 TD somethings gone bang! 17 Apr 2001 (Forum)
I own a Peugeot 306 Meridian TD, which is just over 2 years old. Yesterday I accelerated (quite hard), I heard a sort of bang like a muffeled back fire. I lost some power a cloud of smoke came out the back. Pulled over had a quick visual check everything seemed still in place and running.

I never had any reliability issues with any I sold in fact the only issue was rust. Nissan Primera 2.0 LX - Handled like a Peugeot 405 but built like a Bluebird, these were the perfect family car of 1990. Only minor issue was the ride being a bit firm. Peugeot 205 - All bar the base 954cc were great cars. Practical enough to serve as the main family car in 5dr form, able to do 250k in diesel spec and the best hot hatch on the road in GTi form.
  • Peugeot 307 - Car mounts pavement, Reg photo, Police No Action 8 May 2014 (Forum)
I have submitted the only 'photo that clearly shows his number plate. I observed that the car was a light metallic green Peugeot Hatchback and afterwards, according to the Euro Car Parts 'Oil finder' application on their web site the vehicle with this reg number: BL51 HSD was first registered in 2001 and is a Peugeot 307 hatchback with a 1.6 litre petrol engine.

  • Bring back the Coupe 29 Apr 2020 (Forum)
I’d love a modern day Capri based on say the Focus or a Calibra based on the current Astra or Insignia. A new Peugeot Coupe based on the already attractive 508 would help bolster that cars image and Alfa have no Coupe in their range today unless I’m mistaken. The Ford Capri was a legend despite basic underpinnings and the Puma was a joy in every way despite modest cost and low development investment over the Fiesta.

  • CAR DEALING FOR TOTAL AMATEUR - MADNESS? 19 Mar 2010 (Forum)
If I’m right, that’s something I have to think about in my choice – maybe a Peugeot will ultimately be easier to shift than a Hyundai?   I certainly found myself being influenced by all the descriptions of the Peugeot driving experience for instance!!
