  Focus 1.8 TDi coughs when starting. The colder it is the more it coughs and the longer it takes to start. Main agent diagosed bad battery but a new heavy duty Exide hasn't cured it. Glow plugs should take a total of 32 Amps. They appear to be taking 80. It suggests they are open circuit. On board (milometer) OBD givesa none amongst a load of hex codes.

  I seem to be having a problem with my car , when i turn a corner the car cuts out, the steering locks and the brakes fail, it only seems to happen when making left turns, a couple of times i've gone across the road luckily there has'nt been any cars coming the other way, i have to turn the key to off to get the steering to work, also when it happens the battery light comes on. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

    I have only started the van three times since replacement, first time it was fine, second time it was difficult but eventually started after charging the battery, third time it was fine but then stalled and would not start - just kept clicking - ran diagnostics which gave message:  Faultcode 1808 Camshaft/Syncing speed sensor consistency. Sounds like a timing issue - could this be related to the replacement of the cambelt?

  help,ive got a 54 plate 1.2 vw polo,its in good nick,and had a full service 5 months ago.10 days ago it failed to start first time,this has now happened 5 or 6 times.it starts after 4 or 5 attempts and was running fine.then 3 days ago the engine started loosing power for a few seconds at a time.it only does this for a few minutes after start up.once its been runnuing for 5 minutes it seems fine. the battery is ok,any other ideas pls.cheers

  The description of the car I am looking at potentially buying is:   'Excellent condition, has had full service history.....been stood now for over a year, hence declared sorn'.   I appreciate the battery might be flat but are there any other potentially more serious problems? (Engine not started for over a year)   Thanks so much for your help.

  I have removed and re-inserted the black box integration relay and PROBLEM REMAINS. All interior light bulbs are OK. All fuses are OK.New battery in key fob. I can centrally lock all doors with key and the car functions correctly in all other respects. Can you suggest a solution to the problem?

  Wed 13/01/2011. had parked car went back 2hrs later no start dead, clock showing zero like wise trip milage zero but main mileage still showing 18500 . Push start got car going.  Had same problem 20 months ago, suspect battery but this tested by Skoda overnight all ok. Was told it was down to Engine ECU software upgrade needed and done problem cured. cant be same problem again can it. anyone out there come across this before.

  The remote central locking on my wifes car works every time for her but only once in a blue moon for me. The dash says replace card battery but thats brand new so i know thats not at fault. I'll be standing next to her pressing the key card button with nothing happening but if i hand it to her it will work first time. Any help would be great as i'm sick of having to get my wife to open the car for me!

  Recently the ABS light came on my dash, I had it diagnosed and the problem was with one of the rear sensors which had become damaged, I replaced the sensor but the ABS warning light has stayed on. I have already tried disconnecting the battery overnight, to no avail. Does anyone know if this faut should clear itself after I drive a few miles? Or do I have to actually delete the fault code? and if so, is there anyway I can do this myself without taking it to a garage?

  Hi I've just bought this C5 exclusive SE 2.2 HDI. with AC Have found a slight oil seepage from a small cooler / radiator next to the main radiator on the nearside front, betwixt radiator and battery, size approx 6 - 7 inches wide, same depth as radiator. A large hose goes to it and from it. What is this cooler? Is it repairable? There isn't much of a seep, but over time this has accumilated.

  I know this sounds daft but i have tried putting more petrol init as it was quite low but that didn't work it sounds similar to the battery being flat so i tried jumpleads but that didnt work, any ideas on what it could be. i would be gratefull for any help.

  The original problem was that the heater/aircon fan continued running after the engine was switched off, eventually flattening the battery. The garage's (Vauxhall dealer) reponse was to replace the air conditioning control unit. This did not cure the problem and introduced a new fault - the airflow is now wrongly directed, for example I have to select the windscreen vents to get air to come out of the fascia vents.

  Hi problem with 2006 1.6 renault scenic- while checking contacts for rear brake-sidelight i shorted the connections, fuse has blown for sidelights (n\s) and i can`t find a fuse - the glovebox fuses are ok and the box under the bonnet next to the battery all seem to be BIG fuses. Does anyone know where the fuse is ? it is driving me crackers!!. The brake lights and headlights are ok ,just the n\s sides. Thx barabus ps sorry if not clear enought this is my first post.

  It always seems to have approx 5v going to it, even when A/C not selected. I tried taking power direct to it from battery (with engine OFF) but couldn't detect any noise of internal clutch engaging. Or would this ONLY occur when engine running? ta Kester

  If so this is also a pain as it is awkward to get to. I need to use a charger as every time I want to use the car the battery is dead and have to jump start it. I cannot get answers to this question and want to make sure I do not damage anything when using this charger.

  Yesterday, I noticed a brake light was out so i checked the other lights too but left them on accidentally, so i had to jump start the car because the battery was dead. This worked ok and the brake light bulb was replaced and everything was fine. But today i have noticed the epc light is on. Help would be appreciated!

  Anybody got any ideas??? Under load I can not rev the engine beyond about 4500rpm... I have recently changed the battery and spark plugs. The HT leads aren't too old, neither is the coil. I thought about adjusting the timing but the dizzy body seems to have fused itself to the block.... If anyone has any ideas what could be causing this I would really appreciate some insight!!!

  I know I'm stupid but I wonder if anyone could help me. I have managed to shut the key to my Focus in the bonnet (resting on the battery) and it is the only key that I have so I can't open the bonnet to retrieve it. Is there a way to open the bonnet without a key? I'm really kicking myself, just thought I would check the oil, put the key down while I did so, shut the bonnet, then 2 seconds later realised what I had done!

  i know I'm an idiot but I've just tried to jump start my corsa & the leads were on the wrong terminal once I'd swapped them back the engine management light was flashing & it will start rev once & die. I've seen on other questions on this site that its an immobiliser fault my key fob is a none battery type and i only have the 1one key. could you let me know what i should do next to get it going again.

  just hope some can help my mums car has developed a fault,where it starts and drives till a EP message is displayed and cuts out,the car has just oil and filter changes but the problem is still there,when the car cuts it wont even turn over even though the battery still has charge,the car has also been on a code reader with nothing displayed? is the ecu located under the bonnet? do they need draining? cheers
