Red light camera question 21 Aug 2005 (Forum)
Coming off Broomfield Rd in Chelmsford in to Parkway (we are going on this road all the time) we were flashed by the red light camera at 6.00am passing the junction in amber. I am a regular driver on this road and never seen this flashing in amber before. My question is what kind of fine I should expect. I am driving with my international license (Non-EU) and have my provisional since April and booked to take my practical in October. -
Speeding (mostly excl cameras) XVI 25 May 2004 (Forum)
Assuming I was speeding (safe bet), what are the penalties in Germany for an offence committed in March? I have no idea how fast I was going (didn't see a camera, and was unaware of a speed limit on that bit of motorway). To date, I've been charged 23 euros, which I suspect is just Hertz's admin fee for telling me I've been a naughty boy. Anyone else been done like this? -
Advice on tyre alignment 2 Mar 2002 (Forum)
Being ignorant on these matters I presume that the £35 job does exactly the same as the £140 one (except doesn't use BM cameras!). I also take it that a perfectly good job can be done without the aid of cameras. -

traffic islands 25 Mar 2006 (Forum)
Just as the road straightens out a whole line of the things have sprouted making everyone travel in convoy at the speed of the slowest. In combination with speed cameras it appears that overtaking is seen as anti social behaviour and to be prevented. Perhaps they will bring in the modern equivalent of a man with a red flag in front of cars. Come to think of it they have - speed cameras. -
You're on TV, Baby 8 Feb 2005 (Forum)
The Back Seat Video Baby Monitor allows you to keep an eye on the baby in the back without turning around. The device comprises a small video camera mounted on the head restraint and a 2.5in screen attached to the dashboard. In daylight the image is in colour and at night the camera uses infra-red sensors to provide a mono picture?. Discuss? -
No leniency from the bench 2 Jan 2005 (Forum)
id=66883&db=1 A 6 month ban seemed fairly harsh for the offence that tipped him over the edge. I suspect that he will not be voting for additional cameras if it comes up for debate in the future. As an aside, I wonder in days gone by before cameras, if the local MP had been stopped by a real policeman whether the same result would have ensued. -
A Challenge to Essex Police 21 Apr 2002 (Forum)
After all, if all motorists knew where all cameras were, there would be no camera revenue! I have attached a long list of the ways that the existence of speed cameras can affect driver behaviour adversely. Will you accept that many, if not most or even all, of these factors can indeed lead to the results we are now seeing? -
M25 Cameras 10 Oct 2008 (Forum)
they had to wait). So im figuring, why am I worried when people were passing me? The cameras I mean are in Kent, I travelled from Dartford to Woking, so that stretch of road was the issue for me. I didn?t blast my way through roadwork areas, there were scores of cars going faster than me, I didn? -
Skoda Rapid Spaceback - A Double Offence 3 Sep 2018 (Forum)
Does anyone know if I can be prosecuted if the camera saw that I went over the lines, or do they just detect speeding cars. Many Thanks -
More parking charges/cameras... 4 Sep 2009 (Forum)
No-one to be found. This took perhaps 10 minutes. Still no idea of what to pay. *Then* I noticed the CCTV camera recording number plates, and the "Off-site monitoring" notice.... I decided to park elsewhere, so carefully *reversed* out of the car park. This'll be interesting. Will the approx. 15 minute stay count as "parking"? -
The Speed Camera Thread - Volume 28 9 Jan 2005 (Forum)
I'm pro speed cameras and police speed traps, but today I saw a rather stange choice of location. There is a village on a main A-road on my way to and from work which has a 30 limit. Loads of drivers ignore this and go through at 40, 50 or even 60 mph. -
Radar detector recommendations please. 7 Feb 2021 (Forum)
Has anybody either purchased or seen one of theese GPS based speed camera/road information systems in action? I am thinking of buying one as I am rather worried about the the amount of my attention is taken up looking at my speedometer looking for speed cameras etc when driving in an unfamiliar area. -
Speeding - The pleasure of living in Essex 17 Nov 2016 (Forum)
ref=ar Now that our "relief road" is fully open we have a fine new stock car racing track, as well as the high speed test track on the A12/A120 to add to the "Collection centre" at the Turner retail park. 50mph past the speed camera on mile end road, don't worry if y'all get "flashed", no road markings so camera useless. -

Long range SPECS to be deployed from Jan 2009 10 Oct 2008 (Forum)
Small article on the right hand side of P13 of today's DT: "Speed cameras which can track drivers for up to 30 miles are to be deployed on roads next year. The devices, which stop motorists dodging tickets by braking suddenly before a camera and then speeding up have been tested in London and Northern Ireland. -
EU wide speed fines? 17 Aug 2007 (Forum)
Driving to Gatwick yesterday along the A303 I was behind a Romanian registered car in a queue of traffic which was playing an interesting game. It couldn't go flat out, but every time he got to a speed camera he hung back to create a gap, and then floored it to set the camera off. Quite apart from the fact that this bloke was nailing it through accident blackspots, is there any likelihood that his misdiscretions will catch up with him down the line? -
Driving in Northern Ireland 17 Apr 2007 (Forum)
Not much traffic; great roads, many with long straights for easy overtaking; good driving habits (eg little or no tailgating, ditto aggression); fine scenery. No speed cameras (as far as I could tell), though a few camera warning signs. Didn't see a cop outside Belfast (though each town had its heavily fortified cop-shop), apart from what appeared to be one traffic patrol car on an emergency.
