Volkswagen Golf V (2004 - 2008) - claiming for car damage 6 Nov 2007 (Forum)
I keep my car at my university in the halls of residence car park. There has been a green peugeot parked next to my car for the past few days and i have just noticed the passenger side of my car is VERY damaged. There is even the remnants of green paint - the same colour as the other car - on my car. -
Lucas injector pump leak 19 Mar 2007 (Forum)
Advice appreciated! The car is a diesel 1.9 Citroen ZX with the same engine as fitted to Peugeot 405, etc. Tracing a smell of diesel I've discovered that there is a significant leak apparently from the throttle spindle of the injector pump. There is noticeable play in the spindle and the handbook doesn't describe the internals of the pump, so my question is:- Before I start pulling things apart is there a seal that is replaceable without having to completely dismantle the pump. -
106 -40k service question 24 Nov 2006 (Forum)
I'm in a situation with different quotes for the same work which needs done to my Peugeot 106. 1 garage is quoting me £190 (which could rise to £290) for a 40k service and timing belt. another is quoting me £180 for the 2 but I have now just found a place which is offering both service and new timing belt for £130, excluding the brake discs (which I don't need). -
Pug 106 water leakage problem 14 Oct 2006 (Forum)
I've recently bought Peugeot 106 M plate 1.5D and so far its been Okish. Not very happy with the car after changing the drive shaft, radiator etc.. Now I've got another problem. Water is leaking somewhere inside the car. Every morning I've a bit of water on the mat at the driver's side. -
Pug 406 radio not turning off 15 Aug 2006 (Forum)
My peugeot 406 has gotten into the nasty habit of not automatically turning off the radio when I take the key out of the ignition. Happens in about 1 in 10 times. The only solution is to restart the car (not just put the ignition on - at least this is how it appears to me) until the stereo on/off button decides to work (usually about three times). -
Sensible 1.5 CC Diesel Engined vehicle 4 Aug 2006 (Forum)
Hello all (and thanks for all your previous help) My Father in Law is now fast approaching retirement and is looking to renew is ageing V reg Diesel Peugeot. He is looking to move away from his current 1.9 diesel engine to a smaller 1.5 Diesel engine so as to save every penny in retirement. (cheaper tax, cheaper Insurance, higher economy etc etc) Having looked on the net the only suitable make of car I can find that produce the 1.5 Diesel lump is Renault. -
V6 - Single Turbo?? 11 Aug 2005 (Forum)
If so I'd assume (probably incorrectly) it would mean the engine isn't quite balanced in terms of exhaust gas flow resistance. Thanks for any info Also I saw a review somewhere of this engine in the Peugeot 607. Is the UK 607 available with this engine? (hope this is ok in technical - I wasn't sure) -
Keeping Trim... In place 16 Feb 2005 (Forum)
I have a 406 coupe which relies heavily on these to keep the door panels attached; a mistake in my opinion because they are about as effective as Bluetack. While I can got to my local Peugeot dealer and pick up replacements for 25 pence each I wonder is there is something better that can be used ? higher quality plastic, better grip etc. I presume this is a part common to all cars? Any thoughts? -
Too many cars?? 12 Oct 2004 (Forum)
Does anyone have any information on the following? I'm a Peugeot 205 GTi enthusiast, I bought two earlier this year but afetr getting them back to standard I found an excellent 1.9GTi model I sold them to buy it. I'm now thinking of buying another limited edition model. -
mid size car for 3 grand? 9 Aug 2004 (Forum)
Ideally would have aircon, and a big enough boot for a weeks camping equipment. Ideas so far include: Citroen Xsara 1.8 (S plate) Audi A4 (120k plus miles N or P plate) Peugeot 306 Which would people say makes the best buy? Any other ideas? SWMBO is tempted by the audi, but do they make good high mileage buys? Thanks people......... -
£2-3K for estate - Passat TDi or 405TD? 6 Nov 2003 (Forum)
I'm looking for a turbo diesel estate for around £2-3,000 (nearer 2 hopefully) and have narrowed it down to two - a VW Passat or a Peugeot 405. There are more 405s available than Passats, of course, and the money gets you a newer model - but are they going to be as reliable as a Passat long term? I'm not an ace mechanic (at all!) -
Car reliability survey 14 Apr 2003 (Forum)
Perhaps more interesting were the bunch propping up the foot of the table which were, I believe: Fiat (worst), Daewoo, Peugeot, Lotus, Kia, Land Rover, Vauxhall, Citroen, Renault, Suzuki. The French not looking too good eh ! Audi were in at 10 and Skoda at 6 I think but VW were down at 24. Overall the Mazda 6 was voted as the best car apparently. -
Is my brother about to buy a lemon? 10 Apr 2003 (Forum)
I know that the BR is full of people asking advice on which cars to buy, and I'm as guilty as the next man (or indeed woman). But my brother is seriously thinking about a 00 'W' Peugeot 406 2.0HDi Rapier. It's got 45k on it and the garage wants £7k for it. Apart from the usual 'did it used to be a taxi' etc checks, is there anything that he should be wary of? I've checked in the C-B-C breakdown and it's the 2.1td that seems to be problematic. -
206 Gearbox Woes 29 Nov 2002 (Forum)
My little soldier has a 1999 S 1.4 GLX with 22,000 miles under it's belt and a full main dealer history. Last Thursday the gearbox threw a wobbly and now it requires a new unit. Peugeot UK are offering between 30%-50% of the replacement cost of the parts only. New gearbox is 1300 and 250 labour. My view is I go after them for 80% on the basis that a gearbox should reasonably last 100,000 miles as a minimum. -
Help (nobody else can!) 8 Nov 2002 (Forum)
I've got a Peugeot 205 XLD 1989 and over the past couple of weeks it's been cutting out on me about 10 seconds or so after starting. Starts back up again after 15 seconds, revs like hell on it's own then runs fine until its had an hour and a half/2 hours cooling down, then it'll do it again. -
need a small auto with good acceleration 4 Feb 2002 (Forum)
Does anyone know of a small car (metro/fiesta size) that is automatic but has good low down pickup/acceleration, preferably under £2K. I thought of the Peugeot 106/205 diesels/turbodiesels but am unsure if they are available in auto. thanks -
MOT Test Insurance 2 Jul 2001 (Forum)
My local Peugeot dealer is offering this for a premium of £14.99. The 106 is coming up for its second MOT. I have never heartd of this type of insurance before. Can anyone comment on its value? The limits/exclusions are: £750 per claim, less first £10 Must be taken out 3 months before test 8 years/75,000 miles Cost of test/re-test Windscreen, headlamp alignment, exhaust, CAT, brake friction material and consumables Structural damage Fair wear and tear to items such as brake pads, tryres, clutch etc. -
Vauxhall Grandland X 1.6 Hybrid - Opinions? - Vauxhall Grandland hybrid 16 Apr 2024 (Forum)
Anyone had experience of this car? It's a lot of car for £16k, but an equivalent Peugeot (3008), built on same base, looks a lot sharper, and has a better quality interior / display even in a lower spec... (The Pug tends to command a slightly higher price, possibly due to badge desirability and better looks / all electronic-instrumentation.) -
Car obesity 12 Mar 2020 (Forum)
To start things off, consider the following 'kerb weights' for the entry-level versions of three Peugeots: 205 (1984 on): 760 kg 306 (1993 on) 1000 kg - the larger derivative of the 205 when it was 'split' 207 (2006 on) 1220 kg which presumably is aimed at a similar market sector That's a 60% increase in twenty years, presumably due largely to crash protection, plus some heavy gizmos. -
Toyota coolant are red and pink compatible 23 May 2018 (Forum)
Does anyone know if Toyota pre mixed red coolant is OAT ? I drained out the pink coolant from my peugeot 107 which I believed to be OAT and replaced it with the aforementioned coolant. There seems to a lot of confusion with the earlier concentrated red Toyota coolant when I searched for information.
