  • Primera 2.2DCi - dead turbo? £'s to fix? 22 Jan 2013 (Forum)
Finds oil where he shouldn't and tows me to the Nissan garage where I will check in tomorrow for analysis and repair! So big question I am scared of asking is how bad in terms of £'s could this be? New turbo fitted =£????. Also, the car is less than three years old and has been serviced by a main dealer according to the schedule. Although now out of warranty due to mileage (60k max) its still not three yrs old.
  • MINI Cooper + Cooper S - Warranty Service Plan 5 Jun 2011 (Forum)
Here's where it gets tricky The dealership is owned by Arnold Clark not a name to inspire confidence. Reading some of the comments on the web it' s surprising they manage to sell any Cars. Well I decline the warrant and service package. Still have 2weeks to take it if I want it. Also found out that they own Harry Fairbains BMW dealership in Geffnock Glasgow.

  • Skoda Octavia II (2004 - ) - Tyre suggestion - Octavia II Ambiente TSi 2 Dec 2008 (Forum)
I'm thinking along the lines of 17's from a Mk II vRS of even 16's from an Elegance. I appreciate this will have implications for insurance etc. I have been very impressed with the new 1.8 TSi engine. It pulls from 2K revs and really flies between 4.5K-6K revs.
  • Vauxhall Corsa C (2000 - 2006) - Trade in for a Fiesta Zetec S 1 Jul 2008 (Forum)
My daughter is changing her Corsa Exclusive (Almost 4 years old) for a Fiesta Zetec S (I tried to talk her into a 1.4 but she did not want to know). Dealer gave her a discount and a very good trade in value for her car - he claimed he could not find hers in in Glass's guide although it is listed on Vauxhall's "value your car".
  • Paid a deposit without seeing the car! 10 Dec 2007 (Forum)
I have since then moused around on the internet and most reviews seem to not recommend the S line since its too firm in comparision to the SE spec! My knowledge of tyres is fairly minimal, however I was wondering , since the previous owner has gone for larger 19 inch tyres , will that make the ride yet harder?
  • New Tyre Time Again.... 22 Jun 2006 (Forum)
It seems like not many months ago I came on here asking for advice about choosing some grippy day-to-day tyres for my Volvo S60. I settled on Goodyear Eagles to replace the Pirelli P6000's I have had both on the Volvo and my previous Mondeo estate. Well, the Goodyears were certainly very grippy - much much better than the P6000's which was what I wanted. But after 10,000 miles they are knackered and on the legal limit.
  • Peugeot 205 2 Jun 2005 (Forum)
A few weeks back, I bought a 1989 Peugeot 205 diesel off a neighbour as a bit of fun more than anything. We have enough cars as it is but these 205's bring back a a few happy memories since we had one new in 1986 and the chance to pick up an immaculate low mileage model was too tempting. Anyway the intention was to use it for local journreys but last week I had to drive to Cambridge for the day, a round trip of almost 400 miles from Bath.

  • An Australian Icon 27 Feb 2005 (Forum)
Was watching a motoring programme on Australian TV last night and I was interested to see how young kids are grabbing up old 60's and 70's panel vans, rebuilding them, dropping a big-inch V-8 in there, lots of chrome, nice airbrushed murals, bed, TV, dog, surfboard, nylon upholstery, w.h.y in the back, and just tanking up and taking off with the g/f where the mood takes them.

  • Physical Speed Limiting. 4 Feb 2003 (Forum)
I've always said a limiter on all vehicles at 70 would be great. If it's good for PSV's and Lorries it must be good for all. A two stage switch for 30's and 40's would be even better. Camera's would be a thing of the past and within months we'd have a 95mph limit of roads. -- These are my own opinions, and not necessarily those of all Toads.

  • My lousy Xantia 12 Jun 2002 (Forum)
All the warning lights come on but starter motor is dead. Youngest son arrives says battery done for. Hell it`s only 7 and a half years old !! Stuck jump leads on and off she went. Ran around a bit to charge battery. Problem is the red light that flashes when the alarm is armed now glows continuously with the ignition on or off but at least the screaming has stopped.
  • leak..mondeo V6 ghia X estate. 28 Jan 2002 (Forum)
I have previously posted about a leak I am having in a V6 1997 Ghia X estate. The view generally is that this could be coming in from either the n/s or o/s wings and were repairable with quite a bit of effort. The point where the pollen filter is fitted has also been mentioned as a place where water comes in. It appears that neither areas are where the water is entering in this vehicles case.
