  • New car - zoom, zoom, zoom 29 Mar 2004 (Forum)
Hi all - not been able to post for a while but in the meantime I've picked up my new Mazda MPV. Having driven it a bit more now I have to say I'm very impressed with it. Haven't driven a diesel for about 20 years but it feels great and you'd hardly know it was not a petrol engined car.
  • sporty 5 door for sporty family 13 Sep 2002 (Forum)
I have three children and it seems nigh on impossible to find a new/used or classic car which looks really sporty, goes fast, has 5 doors and is NOT and estate( My wife wont drive an estate..must be her caribbean background ) So far we have tried :- Seat Leon Cupra: Likes: fast, roomy, reasonable price, looks great in yellow, airbag deactivation Dislikes: Would have to be clean to look good, depreciation Audi A3 1.8T: Likes: fast, beautifully made, airbag deactivation Dislikes: a bit small,VERY expensive(even 2nd hand) VW Golf 1.8T and 130BHP TDi: Likes: fast, efficient(Tdi),roomy, reliable Dislikes: A but plain(unless someone can suggest a really good body kit),a lot of them around, have too add extra airbag deactivation kit We have also tried the basic 206 but found it a bit plasticky We have also thought about the mazda 323 1.8 or 2.0 sports and toyota corolla T3 but have not tried them We have also not tried any classic cars yet because of fears on reliability H..E..L..P
  • Change of Car 4 Jul 2002 (Forum)
Hi I have just found out that my family is going to be getting larger in the spring and I therefore need to seriously think about changing my car, both to accommodate 'big mother' and little one when s/he arrives. I currently drive a mazda mx6, which I love driving. I reckon that my car is worth something in the region of 3,500 to 3,000. I can add up to 1,000 more, but that's about the limit. Given these parameters, and the fact that the car must be reasonably cheap to run and reliable, I have almost got down to a shortlist of a Passat (1998, 110 tdi).
  • Car for missus 8 Jul 2001 (Forum)
The missus is after a new car to replace an aged, but still in very nice nick, Cinqecento. She wants a sporty car, preferably a Mazda MX 5. Budget is reasonably flexible but I think £8000 to £12000 is in the ball park. So, is it worth getting the 1.8i 'S' over the base model? It's got an LSD, but she's more interested in the ABS brakes.
