  as mentioned above, my van takes ages to start in the morning and seems to be getting worse..new fuel filter fitted yesterday but same problem this morning.I have to keep my  foot on the  accelerator whilst turning ignition key and holding it before it fires up then when it does start loads of smoke out of the exhaust.Any ideas anyone please ?

  i  recently had a problem with my pug 306 (it wouldnt start), i changed wiring loom but that didnt solve the problem, i then got an open ecu which bypassed the immobilizer, the car now runs but  wont rev above 3000rpm. also sometimes when i turn the key on i get a horrible noise from the fuel filter housing. could it be a wire i missed out or something? any ideas would be very helpful.. cheers

  Here are the road test figures obtained by Motor magazine during its 1975 test of a Mercedes 240D (2.4 litre normally-aspirated 4-cylinder, 65bhp / 101 ft-lb) Maximum speed:  84.4mph 0 - 60mph:  21.8 seconds 40 - 60mph in 4th gear:  14.5 seconds Economy during test:  26.7mpg   Was diesel fuel THAT much cheaper in the 70s to justify the sluggishness and unremarkable economy?

  My car seems ok up until 2000 revs,but sometimes over this it misses and i loose power,and it goes into kangaroo mode. I did have a fuel problem,but this is now ok,(i think). Please,any information would be gratefully accepted. Regards zrx

  I am (probably) about to buy a 2008 1.6 FSI and have heard things about valves needing replacing and the fuel type used. The owner has admitted never paying attention to what petrol he used and the car has done ~40k miles.   (the car has been quite well looked after otherwise: no obvious mechanical issues, fsh etc) Can anyone advise if this should be a concern or not?

  My daily round trip is 20-25 miles excluding weekends. couple of long trips in a year will bring within approx 10000 miles a year. I am looking for fuel economic, reliable and a decent car. I am not yet decided I should go for petrol or diesel or which engine size. Please help!

  we have changed spark plugs and replaced fuel filter, also cleaned the part below air filter ( SORRY DONT KNOW NAME) Car started fine for a couple of mornings, now won't start yet once it is going it starts everytime i need to use it during day, just seems to be mornings it won't start.

  . - 140,000 almost trouble free miles. Now, once warm the engine is prone to cutting out and wont restart - suggestion is that fuel supply is interrupted.  Engine turns over easily but wont fire.  If allowed to cool down (say 20 mins) then engine starts as normal and runs quite smoothly until the next stoppage

  My wife's pug recently started miss firing on start up from cold and there is a smell of petrol. But as soon as its warm its fine for the day. Already changed the plugs and have a fuel filter that i haven't got round to fitting yet. (when the weathers better i'll do it!). Anyone else have this problem? Ifso how did you solve it? Or any ideas you guys have to help will be appreciated.... cheers

  I bought my daughter a 52 reg 1.4 fiesta and its got the dreaded EAC fail, Ive tried chnaging throttle body and fuel loom but it still keeps returning. It shows an error code of P2100 H bridge error which I beleive is a fault between throttle body sensor and PCM. Has anybody else had this error code and how did you resolve it?

  Once picked up runs fine and smooth. Gears and kickdown seem to work fine. Replaced plugs, air and fuel filter but made no difference The car did not used to do this and it started recently - can anyone point me in the right direction as what to look at next. Thanks for any help ffolliott

  I need a car which is: fuel efficient, costs less than £7000, 5 door, preferably low milage and low emissions, can transport 5 passengers comfortably, I will be using the car for town driving (mostly) but doing less than 10000 a year Does this car exist?

  This passed me by at the time, so apologies if it's been covered before:  here's a link to Fifth Gear's test of V-Power and Ultimate diesel versus ordinary supermarket stuff, using a newish Citroen C5 2.2 as the testbed (4 minute video clip). Both the premium fuels gave 161bhp compared with 155 on the ordinary stuff.  What WAS upsetting was that V-Power and Ultimate were 100.9 pence per litre at the time  :-/ 2002, scudo 2.0 jtd - no power and fault codes 11 Apr 2011 (Forum)
  My code reader has bought up the following codes:       po243 turbo/sup wastegate solenoid A malfunction and       po230 fuel pump primary circuit malfunction would the 2 codes be connected and how do i test to confirm the solenoid  (also where is the solenoid?) or primary pump are faulty? many thanks

  hi all, so i changed the flat battery on my car this morning and put 5 litres of fuel in( as was low). i go to start it up and it just turning over and over   the car had been sat in the garage for three days without being started but started fine previously so nothing other than changing the battery has changed.

  Can you throw any light on this issue please, i would not expect an engine with only 68000 miles to be blowing oil out at all. my logic tells me it is unburnt fuel for whatever reason. hope to here from you soon many thanks

  Kind of sends out the wrong message to me. It's a real shame we can't make it so that you can't fill up with fuel without insurance/tax/MOT (although I suspect it could but it would cost too much money).

  Hi we have recently had a problem with the pump leaking on the rear (the seal where the feed pipes join the main body of the pump) Bosch pump. whilst removing the pump end the drive shaft was damaged (the pump shaft internal) we bought a second hand pump and replaced the end cap and drive and rewired the edc and now the engine will not start at all (checked the timing both valve and pump checked fuel to the injectors all seems to be ok) any suggestions would be helpful

  we bought a ford focus tdi on a v plate. it keeps randomley cutting out which can be very danerous. it starts straight away every time. the garage we bought it from took it back and replaced crankshaft sensor ( diagnostic machine read problems with crankshaft and fuel pump). got car back and still kept cutting out. they are now saying the ecu has gone. could the ecu relate to  the readings on the diagnostic machine. anyone know ?
